A very good friend of mine and a long time poster here has spent most of her day crying because this fresh wave of transphobia in a community she thought she was welcome in has finally broken her spirits. After obtaining her permission, I am posting this because it needs to be said.

She is a woman with a penis and has identified as such since she was old enough to understand the concept of gender. Being female is part of her identity but so is her body, such as it is and untouched by surgery and artificial hormones. She is a beautiful individual and, to my eye, presents a much more feminine image than, ironically, Linda Bellos and several of her fellow bigots.

Arguing that, because of potential past trauma involving males, causing seeing a penis or even an individual likely to be in possession of a penis to be triggering is justification for segregation is as absurd as it is offensive. Would it be acceptable for a woman who was the victim of a violent crime commuted by a particular ethnic minority to demand that all members of that race be segregated in changing rooms and domestic violence shelters? Of course not.

Equally ludicrous is the claim that transgender women somehow had the privilege of living as a man. Cisgendered women are light years ahead of transgender women in terms of privilege and if you wish to continue denying this, you are no better than the most vile male misogynists.

Finally, think about how disrespectful you are being to all women, you are reducing all the wonderful differences between the genders to what someone has between their legs. The same feminist ancestors who fought for your right to vote, to be regarded as more than domestic servants and baby machines would spit on you for your intolerance.

And don't get me wrong. I have seen some slurs towards trans identified people on MN. They usually get deleted, which I think is right and proper.

But "transphobia" is a thought crime, and "transphobes" are thought criminals (and almost always women). There's no definition and there's no defence.

Just ask Rose McGowan, who this week has, despite calling the trans identified male who showed up to yell at her "sister" and saying she understood how the TIM felt, was nonetheless denounced as a transphobe. You can almost see it dawn on her, in the video, that nothing she does or says will ever be enough. Her very existence as a woman talking about male sexual violence is the issue.

And that's what people here object to.

I am not female because I present any image but because that is my sex. I can wear trousers everyday, never use make up and have short hair, I will still be completely female. Equally I could wear short skirts, make up and have long styled hair, I would still be female. The image I present does not impact in any way on the sex I am, it has no bearing at all on this issue.

I'm a woman who's had a hysterectomy. That doesn't make me a man. Although given that I don't wear skirts and hardly ever wear make-up, I'm not a "proper" woman anyway, according to the likes of Mike.

Also, OP, please know that women don't have to have long hair, big breasts, painted nails, smell of perfumes, wear high heels, wear earrings, fitted clothes etc... a woman is just as much a woman if she doesn't ''adorn'' herself or grow her hair or wear make up, so there is no competition to be frilly and decorated that makes you a woman.

Morning, everyone. We took this thread down last night so we could look behind the scenes. Having done so, we think all seems above board so we're reinstating the thread now.

I have never understood why if reality is so hurtful to certain people, they go on social media. People will usually not call you out on not believing in reality face-to-face. They will on social media.

It is really disappointing to see the "insufficiently feminine" homophobic attack on Linda Bellos from someone purportedly here to defend trans rights, who no doubt sees himself as an ally to the LGBT movement.

Linda Bellos is a bloody hero and is not on this planet to look frilly and simpering and smooth for male approval.
