www.youngfabians.org.uk/transmisog

''100 years on since the first women got the vote, there are still inequalities in the feminist movement. Why are some feminists still failing transwomen?

The evidence is there if you look for it – Transphobic leaflets being given out in the safe zone at Labour annual conference; prominent party feminists suggesting violence against transwomen; someone being kicked out of a Labour Women’s Network party for harassing a teenage trans woman; fundraisers being started to try and legally challenge Labours trans-inclusive policies; transwomen being excluded from Labour run women’s events by a women’s officer. The list goes on.

Most state their actions aren’t transphobic at all, but they are merely seeking the protection of women’s spaces. Some go further, suggesting transwomen are men’s right activists working purposely to erode women’s hard won protects. They commonly misgender people like me as a means to belittle our experiences and score social media points. And so I think its fair we question how much authority they have as cis-women to decide whether they are being transphobic.''

It continues in this vein.

All Lily has done is have her begging bowl out and sponging off her mum and dad. She's done fuck all for women.

miri1985 · 01/02/2018 19:01

Does the independent not have proof readers any more? "in Britain we have seen May sign a collation with the DUP "

LangCleg · 01/02/2018 19:09

My comment lasted a while but it has been deleted now.

It's really outrageous to watch reality being manipulated like this in real time, isn't it?

OvaHere · 01/02/2018 19:11

That comment section is a joke. They are trying so hard to quell all the dissenting voices and it's so obvious they are doing this. Pathetic.

HomeTerf · 01/02/2018 19:18

I would seriously like to ask Lily to expand on the statement about fighting for women. If he could name three actual things that he's done for women's causes (in fact for any causes beyond his own narcissistic agenda) I'd be surprised, whereas it would take Linda Bellos the rest of LGBT+ History Month to list what she's achieved.

Comments disappearing again, most notably from the extremely articulate SRR. Jeez.

NotTerfNorCis · 01/02/2018 19:31

Linda Bellos should make a complaint about Madigan libeling her. Threatening violence is a criminal offence, so he's accusing her of a crime.

OvaHere · 01/02/2018 19:34

Yes I think the libelling is quite serious now it's being featured in MSM. I hope Linda takes legal advice.

ChattyLion · 01/02/2018 19:38

The Independent BTL commenters are being relentlessly.. factual.

ChattyLion · 01/02/2018 19:40

And they are all very politely expressing the facts too. Smile

Agerbilatemycardigan · 01/02/2018 19:41

It looks like women are committing 'literal' violence just by daring to exist and by not kissing Madigan's lily-white male arse.

OvaHere · 01/02/2018 19:53

Interesting that Lily's handmaidens are seemingly out in force flagging comments for moderation but very few are daring to challenge in writing. Could it be that they don't have coherent arguments?

slightlybefuddledlibrarian · 01/02/2018 19:56

Miss - I just noticed in another thread that you are in crisis, and I apologise for being insensitive - I hadn’t noticed the similarities between BPD thought processes and trans thought processes until the light went on when someone mentioned cluster B dx upthread.
I hope you manage to access some support, and I totally get that you aren’t in a position to discuss it right now. I hadn’t meant to explicitly link different dx, but just to note that the same type of issues around disordered thinking (which can be ‘read’ as lying, but not perceived that way by the individual with the dx) can be seen in both, and while I understand your need to exclude your own dx from the list, it very much does need to remain there for a fuller picture. That isn’t meant as an attack on either trans people or people with BPD - it’s a very neutral comment about two mental illnesses where disordered thinking can lead to problems for the individual and others around them.
I really hope you have someone to talk to about this. I know my friend accessed a DBT group and has a MH toolkit with a number of strategies that can help. BPD is very hard for everyone xx

AllMyBestFriendsAreMetalheads · 01/02/2018 20:00

I didn't read the headline properly on the Independent article and halfway through the second paragraph I was thinking, "bloody hell, this author is laying it on a bit thick comparing 20yo Madigan to this guy".

And then I realised who had wrote it! Wow!

Some great comments though.

TransHobbit Dr Webberley would beg to disagree:

Mermaids also promoted a German doctor who did this remotely.

Also in 2011 Tavistock experimented with giving blockers to 12-15 year olds. Or at least proposed to do so.

Wren said the youngest child receiving medical intervention at the clinic was a girl aged 11, who identifies as a boy and is receiving hormone treatment to suppress early puberty

Bernadette Wren, of the Tavistock & Portland GIDS clinic, being interviewed by the Times a couple of weeks ago.

NataliaOsipova · 01/02/2018 21:13

This makes my blood boil.

If my cousin's daughter, who is 25, has a degree and a good job and is an entirely aware and intelligent young woman, went to the doctor and asked to be sterilised because she didn't want to have children, would they do that? They would not. Because she might change her mind with the passage of time. Is this a sensible response? Possibly.

If a pre pubescent child wants medical intervention which may harm her future fertility, I sure as hell think the read through from the above should be to say no! So much changes during puberty; this sort of intervention should only be allowed for fully informed adults. Surely?

SmurfOrTerf · 01/02/2018 21:26

Natalia I agree, and in 15/20 years time the NHS will completely collapse, due to all these kids successfully sueing them. I just hope they sue all the other people who are complicit in this BS

PencilsInSpace · 01/02/2018 21:43

Yes I was wondering if the dates would add up if Lily had been to Tavi before the age cut off. From what I have read, you don't need to have actually had any hormones or surgery but if you haven't had surgery you have to say why not. UK Trans Info say:

If you haven’t had any surgery then the report must explain the reason why. This could be because you are on a waiting list, because you aren’t medically able, because you are waiting for improvements in surgical techniques, because you don’t feel the need for surgery or for any other reasons, but an explanation must be given.

I do find it extremely hard to believe that Lily has a GRC though. The Times article from November said Lily had been on a waiting list for 2 years for hormones. That doesn't happen does it? The waiting list is for initial referral I thought. There's no logical reason to make people wait 2 extra years from referral and initial assessment to get a prescription Confused

More than happy to defer to anyone who has been through this process and if this is the case then I think it's absolutely shocking and would support any campaign to reduce this wait.

Lily, humble as ever, on Twitter a little while ago.

Anlaf · 01/02/2018 22:11

Is one of you Rory on this?

Dear Lily, what have you done for non-transwomen women lately? (formerly known as women, and hopefully again in the not too distant future)

And then there's this [pic] and Alan's response [other pic]

A TIM on reddit/asktransgender told fellow TIMs to stop complaining about NHS waiting times because you can readily buy oestrogen online for £1/day. As he pointed out, much less than a latte.

So if Lily wanted hormones, he could obtain them easily.

QuentinSummers · 01/02/2018 22:17

I'm loving what Lily is retweeting:
"You say misgendering, i say "accurately describing reality
I actually have no problem using a person's preferred pronouns if they're not being complete bell-ends"
