I have a twitter account, have had it, largely unused for years, I followed about 10 people, all tech, related to my area of expertise.
During all of this, I've returned to lurk (and follow a load of GC people) - but in reading the GC tweets, I've also been reading the tech tweets (many, many fewer than the GC tweets) - and I've seen something that I didn't when I was last on twitter (about 5 years ago):
About once every other day, one of the tech people I follow retweets something from a TIM tech person (different TIMs - 3 or 4 in the last week I've been back reading twitter) . I know this, because I look at the avatar/the content of their tweet (one TIM talking about bringing a mermaid tail to a work offsite for instance), my head goes 'that's not a woman' and when I look at their profile, it turns out I'm right.
In fact, the people I follow retweet more TIMs than women (I just went and counted)
TIMs are hugely over-represented in tech - more than I'd actually realised (I've been freelance for years, and tend to avoid large companies anyway).
