Here's the URL: please do the consultation. (I think this has been posted before, but it bears repeating.)
consult.gov.scot/family-law/review-of-the-gender-recognition-act-2004/
To note:

  1. At the end, you will be asked whether you are resident in Scotland, the rest of the UK, or elsewhere - i.e. you don't have to be in Scotland, though obviously it's more important to be heard if you are.
  2. You will also be asked whether you want your response published with your name, without your name, or not at all - if that makes a difference to how you write your answers, it might be helpful to know this up front. Closes on March 1st, but don't wait till then!

Thanks for the reminder. Good recent article in the Evening News (local Edinburgh paper): www.edinburghnews.scotsman.com/news/opinion/susan-dalgety-my-problem-with-men-who-self-identify-as-women-1-4677359

It would be great if someone could put together GC guidance for completing this consultation as I think mentioned above.

I have struggled to wade through the questions and the report. Given up and aim to respond when brain is working a little better.

Equal Recognition Scotland have very comprehensive guidance as to how they recommend folk respond to the consultation. equalrecognition.scot/consultation/

I am unashamedly trying to get this back on the front page. Do all of you England and Wales people who are still waiting for your consultation realise that this could be the only one you get? If Scotland allows self ID (very likely despite our best efforts) and they allow other countries ( yes in Scotland politics speak that means England and Wales) to use their system ( that is in the consultation) and Uk govt ratifies Scotland’s GRC (which will happen) then there will be no need for a controversial UK consultation it will all be done by the back door. Trans people from England and Wales will sign up for a Scottish GRC and you will have lost your rights without being asked. If you want a say fill in the Scottish consultation and tell them about the impact of their policy on women in the rest of the UK! Go for it, it might be the only say you get.

WildAndPrecious · 05/02/2018 16:19

SillyDoggy I totally agree, it is important as many people as possible respond to the Scottish consultation. How do we get the word out?and that it will have a knock on effect on England too? It's pretty low on the agenda for most people.

Sillydoggy · 05/02/2018 20:15

Keep putting reminders on every thread?

Pootlebug · 06/02/2018 10:15

Just doing it now but blimey it is giving me the rage...

BetsyM00 · 06/02/2018 23:50

I second what Sillydoggy says above. England, Wales & NI this is your consultation too so please complete it.

There was a post earlier today which links to an excellent guide for completing the consultation. Well worth a read.

That Fair Play for women guide is brilliant! I'm going to try and get the consultation done this month, and that will be a huge help

doesthatmakesense · 07/02/2018 13:29

Done

Aloneinacrowd70 · 07/02/2018 13:33

Done as well. Is it worth writing to both MSP and MP if in Scotland?

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 07/02/2018 16:00

I'd say just MSP re the consultation as it is a scotgov issue - MP to express your general disquiet though...

Aloneinacrowd70 · 07/02/2018 19:23

Thanks, Itsallgoingtobefine - will do both.

MadamMinacious · 08/02/2018 09:52

I'm just giving this a bump to the top

Weezol · 08/02/2018 21:42

Bump

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 08/02/2018 22:24

Done. I am a wuss, though - I have said I am willing to have my response published but not my name.

gingergenius · 08/02/2018 22:49

Completed the consultation

Datun · 09/02/2018 11:20

Done.

It's a right faff, and questions are loaded. But least you get to have a huge space for comments.

Can I urge everyone to fill it out.

Even if they just collate yes/no answers, numbers will be vital.

You don't have to agree to having your name published.

This is really going to count. Parliament will be watching Scotland.

Waddlelikeapenguin · 09/02/2018 11:49

Bump

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 09/02/2018 12:53

Done.

I found this very useful

StrangeIdeas · 09/02/2018 14:58

Have done. Signed the women's aid petition earlier. Still have to do the sex ed one before Monday.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 10/02/2018 19:45

I'm just going to give this a wee bump - please do fill it out, it'll only take a minute if you just tick boxes and don't fill out the comments.

Of course, if you have the time then filling out the comments may have more impact.
