Here's the URL: please do the consultation. (I think this has been posted before, but it bears repeating.)
consult.gov.scot/family-law/review-of-the-gender-recognition-act-2004/
To note:

  1. At the end, you will be asked whether you are resident in Scotland, the rest of the UK, or elsewhere - i.e. you don't have to be in Scotland, though obviously it's more important to be heard if you are.
  2. You will also be asked whether you want your response published with your name, without your name, or not at all - if that makes a difference to how you write your answers, it might be helpful to know this up front. Closes on March 1st, but don't wait till then!

Also reading through the Fair Play for women site linked to upthread, this jumped out at me:

’IMPORTANT: It is extremely likely that the UK government WILL legally recognise the validity of a Scottish GRC. This means that people will be able to obtain a GRC in Scotland and then be legally recognised as the opposite sex throughout the whole of the UK. This will impact everyone in the UK and could represent GRA reform by the back door for England and Wales without further consultation. This may be the only chance women in England and Wales get to express their views. Also, once Scotland has introduced GRA reforms it will be used as a reason for the rest of the UK to follow to unify the process. This affects EVERY woman in the UK – we must all speak up now before its too late.’

As well as doing the survey, also write to your MSP (if you live in Scotland).
You can do that through www.theyworkforyou.com

Hackedoffwoman · 25/02/2018 21:17

Giving this a bump. The consultation is open to all. Please take a few minutes to fill out. The results of this will have ramifications for the rest of the UK.

Bump. Links to the consultation are being widely shared by people (often well-meaning but ignorant people) who are in favour of the trans agenda, complete with instructions on what boxes to tick; while most of us, including me, are too afraid of - well, at bottom, it's of male violence, isn't it? - to share the link non-anonymously. If we want the Scottish government to say anything but "the population of Scotland is overwhelmingly in favour of these changes"... now is our only chance.

TWO DAYS LEFT

I live in Scotland. Completed it and slightly concerned about the SNP trying so hard to be 'progressive' that they are overlooking any potential damage.

Popchyk · 26/02/2018 11:52

There is absolutely nothing stopping anyone from providing different names and email addresses and submitting the form multiple times.

Therefore the survey is fundamentally flawed for me before it even starts. And of course all the questions are leading and are designed to make you give the "correct" response.

There needs to be proper real-life consultation, not just with internet warriors who can claim to be anything.

RedToothBrush · 26/02/2018 16:48

I put in the comments that the entire consultation was bias and about the lobby groups and had no interest in those groups who might be most affected by changes and would lose rights.

The wording was leading. The questions were framed deliberately in a way it was difficult to make a point.

The entire proposal is being led by feelings no evidence and was in the absence of evidence and with the use of propaganda.

I have it on record, that I have made a point that it is setting up a situation where there will be a scandal because of the way in which it actively is trying to avoid proper debate.

The entire thing was UTTER UTTER bullshit.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 26/02/2018 18:08

I may have written something very similar Wink

pepperminttaste · 26/02/2018 20:20

I have started to fill in the consultation 3 times now and have given up each time as I am too baffled by the appalling questions. I came on here to look for advice and found this thread.

Thank you!

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 26/02/2018 20:22

peppermint you may find this useful too if you didn't already see it

pepperminttaste · 26/02/2018 20:49

I did but thank you!

pepperminttaste · 26/02/2018 21:25

Not sure if this is the right place to put this but thought you may be interested in this 'open letter to LGB people and trans allies' from the Development Manager at Equality Scotland.

RedToothBrush · 26/02/2018 22:00

DH is filling it in.

There are lots of 'WHAT!?'s and 'JESUS WEPT's going on from the other end of the sofa.

RedToothBrush · 26/02/2018 22:04

Should you be able to be able to change your gender without your partners consent?

His response: Well you are supposed be counselled together if I want a vasectomy and you can't implant embryos for IVF without your partners consent.

He can not believe the nonsense in it.

Its special watching him rage.

Ereshkigal · 26/02/2018 22:09

Just done it on the way home.

Absolutely. It's shit. Also internet only will mean sampling bias. There are populations who will be largely excluded.

Popchyk · 27/02/2018 10:00

Closes 1st March.

So needs to be done today or tomorrow.

Just reposting this link as I found it very useful when filling it in.

Well that was rage making. Nice misrepresentation of people's concerns Hmm

HollyHazard · 27/02/2018 21:06

Wasn't able to go to the Women's Place event tonight so did this instead. Not as eloquent as I'd like to be but hopefully there'll be enough gender critical voices to prompt a closer look/
