I think it will depend on whether this is a wake up call for Labour and they sort this out properly.

OnTheList · 25/01/2018 08:52

It was unanimously agreed that self-ID is wrong and that doxing, threats etc. should be a police matter. The more experienced members also recommended reporting the List to the members’ hotline, which I’ll investigate.

Good news. I do think near everyone would be against self-ID if they thought properly about it just a little bit.

I bet Tara argues that they were scared of Maria in some way, or uses the TRA interpretation of the video and says Maria attacked him Hmm I am sure the police can see thats bollocks. I wonder if he will try the 'literal violence' thing too. 'She looked at me with a raised eyebrow, it was like being stabbed so I retaliated'

Morning ladies. Or whatever we are identifying as today. Anyone had a look at The Spectator this morning? I have a subs so if people want a copy of Rod Liddle’s piece I can send them a grab. Don’t know rules about posting stuff.

UpstartCrow · 25/01/2018 09:01

Goldmonday

Its not unreasonable, we're in this for the long haul. The Tories have had 2 female Prime Ministers; Labour haven't had a single female leader.
How are women supposed to 'achieve' 50% female MP's if we don't make a stand? Are we represented at all if all the female MP's are biological men?

Help if I added the bloody link.

Rod Liddle in The Spectator;

Thank you, Rod.

That is a great article. Massive cudos to @Hammerofthetwat, you are a total hero.

NettleTea · 25/01/2018 09:17

Ahh yes I was just coming on to post that Spectator link.

MiniTheMinx · 25/01/2018 09:22

I have cancelled my Labour party membership.

pamish · 25/01/2018 09:25

It's a shame he focuses on Momemtum. This is not a Momentum thing. We're getting the same in Haringey where a real cross-party grouping just deselected a load of councillors because of one key housing/planning issue, and it's being sold by the lazy press as done by Momentum. No, it was a coalition. So is this.

NettleTea · 25/01/2018 09:30

ahh, in my CLP is it definately Momentum driven. But I do know that across the board it is not

Badweekjustgotworse · 25/01/2018 09:35

Great article, I don’t have a subscription to the spectator so any see the comments, what the general response?

ATeardropExplodes · 25/01/2018 09:36

Well done Hammer. You rock.

Will be namechanging laters.

AssignedPuuurfectAtBirth · 25/01/2018 09:39

Brilliant work Hammer

AreYouOrHaveYouEverBeenATERF · 25/01/2018 09:39

Interesting - I've suspected for a while that Momentum is harbouring a fair bit of left wing misogyny. I find the left wing misogyny is the hardest to counter - you know - because they're so worthy in every other way. Eg Ralf Little's little dance-on-dance-off-again last week.

A friend of mine stopped going to her Momentum meetings, because she said it was full of very vocal men telling the women what to do - and she got fed up with it.

therealposieparker · 25/01/2018 09:42

This is going to get much much worse. You will find that women in positions of power in Labour refuse to speak up. There is a huge culture of fear.

Action is required.

That article by Rod Liddle is brilliant. Thank you Hammer.
For every person writing ‘thank you’ on this board, there will be another hundred thinking it, I’m sure.

allTERFSareequal · 25/01/2018 09:55

Name changed, checking in. Not a member of the Labour party, but I did vote for them last election and I live in a very strong Labour area. Disappointed isn't a strong enough word.

LangCleg · 25/01/2018 09:56

The Momentum leadership is definitely behind self-ID although I don't think their activists in every constituency are (certainly not in mine). I honestly think it depends where you are - big city? University city/town? Sitting MP involved in the chicken coup?

In some cases, I'm pretty certain that pro-trans stances are being offered by anti-Corbyn MPs as olive branches to Momentum activists if they are worried about possible deselection fights. Because, whatever Jon Lansman says about the national policy, there will be sticky wickets for some MPs where Momentum has taken over the CLP committees.

YomTov · 25/01/2018 09:57

Liddle being Liddle, he can't resist the sideswipes at Momentum et al, but at core this is on the mark. Hugely grateful to Hammer (sorry, I'm new here and haven't worked out how to get her name properly and highlighted) - tbh I doubted Liddle could do anything reasonable and I was well wrong.

NettleTea · 25/01/2018 10:00

I am always worried when interviewed that Ive said something I shouldnt have done, but thank god, it was all OK
