I might have to join Labour just to go along and ask, 'Is that honestly the main issue facing most women in the UK today - fighting against feminists? Why?'

ArcheryAnnie · 19/02/2018 19:52

I would consider myself quite far left, but I fell out of liking Corbyn long, long ago. He's the sort of person who is quite good at raising an issue from the backbenches (except nobody listened because it was Corbyn), but is utterly shit as a leader. His acceptance of antisemitism was the final straw for me, even before the trans stuff kicked in. His deceit about brexit didn't help, either. The people around him do him no favours, useless lefty-bros that they are. It's no secret that he's hated in the Parliamentary Labour Party, whatever they say in front of the cameras.

I'm going along to a local party thing this week, and am going to come out as gender-crit - I have already done so with some individuals, and with the Labour MP, but I want to see how it's received amongst other local activists.

LapdanceShoeshine · 20/02/2018 12:47

Someone in my CLP posted something on FB about the Transgender Day of Remembrance, & I commented that there really aren’t that many deaths worldwide, most of them are sex workers in C & S America, & there’s little evidence that they’re killed because they’re trans; why isn’t there a big fuss about the millions of women murdered worldwide?

I got trounced. Staying well out of it now Hmm

FearedAndLoathed · 20/02/2018 13:26

Lily decided to share a platform with Ben Gliniecki despite being advised by a number of people that he is a rather unpleasant anti semite.
Doesn't care about women or Jews. Perfect fit for Labour then these days.

FearedAndLoathed · 20/02/2018 13:45

Lily was bleating about being held to too high a standard when challenged.... Although I'm sure Lily would not share a platform with anyone she considered transphobic. And of course refused to speak with someone Lily had judged transphobic when on Radio 4.

If it doesn't affect Lily, then Lily doesn't care.

Melamin · 20/02/2018 15:17

I was looking at another profile of a young labour womens officer candidate. It was fairly normal. Lily does not stand a chance.

LapdanceShoeshine · 20/02/2018 22:49

Just came across this thread.
If he seriously thinks this, & isn’t just on a wind-up mission, he actually has mental health issues, surely?

Lily is a special sort of stupid.
I'd point out the terms Queer and the n word as words people use to describe themselves but are still abusive, but she blocked me for pointing out she shared a platform with a rather unpleasant man.

Archery thank you for speaking up for women. Would love to find out how this goes.

pamish · 21/02/2018 14:29

on the other hand, have been hearing some very positive stories of women in the LP who have brought up the subject (in trepidation ) and found loads of support, especially once they explain what's going on and what Self-ID means/ could mean. So please don't despair O Mumsnet Army, this is shifting in our direction.

Find other women in your ward/branch and talk to them first. Then try bringing the suggested motion that asks for a pause in the GRA to start with.

ArcheryAnnie · 21/02/2018 19:19

I'll report back, Ouch!

pamish · 22/02/2018 01:08

JC's constituency.

ButteredScone · 22/02/2018 02:03

That suggested motion is still pretty creepy though, tbh.

DarthArts · 22/02/2018 02:35

Notice that all these statements have been made by men?

Huntingdon member abstained on the basis of being against AWS but anti transphobic.

FearedAndLoathed · 22/02/2018 08:26

Use of umbrella term transgender too. Did they even know what it means? The panto dame could go on an AWS.

DodoPatrol · 22/02/2018 09:19

They could indeed, Feared. I just double-checked Stonewall's current definition of transgender, and 'crossdresser' is still there on their list of who is included:

'Trans – an umbrella term to describe people whose gender is not the same as, or does not sit comfortably with, the sex they were assigned at birth. Trans people may describe themselves using one or more of a wide variety of terms, including (but not limited to) Transgender, Transsexual, Gender-queer (GQ), Gender-fluid, Non-binary, Gender-variant, Crossdresser, Genderless, Agender, Nongender, Third gender, Two-spirit, Bi-gender, Trans man, Trans woman, Trans masculine, Trans feminine and Neutrois.'

Ereshkigal · 22/02/2018 09:22

We are all transgender.

BigEthel · 22/02/2018 10:04

Perhaps we should all go to our local CLPs and self-id as a man - just for the night.

Mansplain, talk over people and accuse anyone of talking over us as transphobic, manspread, demand to use the men's toilets and complain that urinals are discriminatory, ask the gay men to fancy us and then say they're transphobic when they don't, tell them discussing prostate cancer is discriminatory, fart and belch and do all the other stereotypical things men are supposed to do because you feel like a man and tell the trans women to "calm down dear" and "suck my fanny lips".

How long do you think we'd be allowed to act like that?

pamish · 22/02/2018 17:53

Lily is such an ambitious young woman.... local party cannot contain them any more. Being guest speaker around the country is no longer enough. I keep imagining the reception when Lily walks into a room full of handmaidens. It must be very sustaining.

FearedAndLoathed · 22/02/2018 18:19

She was snowed under when asked about sharing a platform with an anti semite

Terftastic · 22/02/2018 19:34

God, Lily's going to get the National women's officer role. What a fucking travesty.

Terftastic · 22/02/2018 19:36

"suck my fanny lips".

How long do you think we'd be allowed to act like that?

Right. No woman speaks like that - they're all just showing their very maleness.
