Has he ever been to something with an all-woman panel, out of interest?

CharlieParley · 12/02/2018 16:11

Delurking to say that I decided to go when I realised that I was actually scared to go. Which pissed me off enough to book my ticket. Coming from outside of Edinburgh by train and would be happy to meet up beforehand.

OOAOML · 12/02/2018 16:13

Well done Charley - to be honest I thought of going through to Glasgow for that one but was a bit scared.

I work in the centre of town if people are meeting?

SuperLoudPoppingAction · 12/02/2018 16:27

It's been ages since I had a Mumsnet meet up!

It used to be a posh tea in a wine bar.

Now we seem to be kick-starting a revolution!

PlonitbatPlonit · 12/02/2018 17:33

This looks like it's going to be a massively important meeting in Scotland, I'd really urge everyone considering going to go! Everyone who has been to a Woman's Place meeting has raved about it....

WildAndPrecious · 12/02/2018 17:39

I am coming along. Would like to meet beforehand. Strength in numbers!

AssignedPuuurfectAtBirth · 12/02/2018 19:52

Please get your tickets asap

Last-minute bump

goodthinking99 · 13/02/2018 10:33

I would have been there, except for being away because of half term. I hope the event goes well and light is shed on the issues that many women have with self ID, not the trans community.

failingatlife · 13/02/2018 12:49

Does anyone know if its sold out? I have decided to go but when I try to buy tickets it goes to a wait list.

SuperLoudPoppingAction · 13/02/2018 13:32

E-mail the organisers - there might be cancellations as forecast is not looking great for anyone travelling. E-mail is on their eventbrite. There was a tweet saying it was sold out but I think it's worth e-mailing

PlonitbatPlonit · 13/02/2018 13:47

There is a waiting list. Most events have cancellations.

dragongirlx · 13/02/2018 16:29

It is sold out but the organisers have said that people should try for cancellations so put your name on the waiting list and hope for best.

Robbabank · 13/02/2018 17:59

How are people meeting up? Are we doing it by PM? I’m going with a friend but would like to meet up. So pls do PM if anyone wants company.

Freshlylaidterf · 13/02/2018 18:45

Bumping.

varvara · 13/02/2018 20:34

Charley I know what you mean. I had a nosey at the ATH Facebook page and as I expected, they are planning on disrupting the meeting. I nearly got cold feet... But then I got mad. How dare they try to prevent women from simply meeting and discussing an issue that affects them? I’m absolutely determined to go now.

OOAOML · 13/02/2018 20:56

Any idea what they're likely to do?

SuperLoudPoppingAction · 13/02/2018 21:35

Hopefully nothing, like in Bristol!

There was a counter-protest to a cheese festival recently - presumably it'll make about that level of an impression on anyone seeing it.

varvara · 13/02/2018 21:41

Ah, just checked their FB page again (it’s public) and it’s Sisters Uncut who are organising th protest, ATH are just publicising it on their page. No doubt they will be involved as well. They are calling it a counter-demo which is odd as the Woman’s Place event isn’t a demo as far as I’m aware?!

According the FB they intend to bring banners and whistles and make lots of noise. The post didn’t have very many likes. I’m actually wondering how many people are actually involved in these groups...

HerFemaleness · 13/02/2018 22:03

What happened in Bristol? @Superloud.

SuperLoudPoppingAction · 13/02/2018 22:08

The protesters couldn't find the venue.

The 'free the she-wolf' thing is also a counter-demo. As though a court hearing is political protest of some kind...

HerFemaleness · 13/02/2018 22:14

Oh bless. I'm picturing them wandering around the streets all forlorn, clutching their banners and placards.

It's bonkers that a feminist organisation is actively trying to stop women meeting and talking.

SuperLoudPoppingAction · 13/02/2018 22:27

The only thing I knew them for before this was picketing the Suffragette film.

OOAOML · 13/02/2018 22:34

Picketing Suffragette?? FFS!

SonicBoomBoom · 13/02/2018 22:40

I'm really looking forward to it. Anyone travelling from Glasgow that fancies a train buddy? Grin
