Lily Madigan and Aisling Musson are asking for 'screenshots and evidence of transphobic behaviour' so they can make Labour 'a truly safe space for all members regardless of their gender identity or lack thereof.' In other words, doxxing people so they can be thrown out of the party for gender-critical views.

The group write-up is:

A group formed to oppose the rising tide of Transphobia in the UK Labour Party and to seek to make the Party a truly safe space for all members regardless of their gender identity or lack thereof.

PLEASE READ THE PINNED POST

If you have screenshots and evidence of transphobic behaviour please put them in the google drive folder rather than offloading them straight into the group as it may otherwise be overwhelming and trans members should have the option to not have to look at upsetting comments.

Do not add anyone unless you are sure that they:

  1. Are a member of the Labour Party
  2. Believe the basis of gender is self-definition
  3. Think that transphobia is grounds for expulsion from the party
  4. Respect the autonomy of trans people to direct the fight against transphobia (I.e will not take decisions against the will of trans people)

If you are a trans and/or non binary person and you would like to be added to the secret group (trans/nb people only) please message lily madigan or aisling musson and we will add you.

Rules:

  • No advocacy for violence, threats of violence of other illegal acts (quite apart from the morality of it, please do not get this group shut down)
  • This is a not a discourse group. If you do not agree that transphobia is bad, that the Labour party has it and that we should fight it, this is not a group for you.
  • Be respectful. As far as possible, please always be friendly, respectful and comradely and treat others as you would wish to be treated.
-No members of other parties.
  • TERF is not a slur.

Agree that Hammer has done sterling work. Am really looking forward to seeing this stuff hit the mainstream press - the only surprise is that it hasn't already.

I've seen the HuffPo article saying that Labour are going to announce that they have decided to allow self-identifying women onto all women shortlists. It seems extraordinary that they can't see how this will play in the outside world. Does anyone know when the NEC meeting is? Is it today or was it yesterday?

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 23/01/2018 08:14

It's today.

I thought self id on aws was against the equality act.?

VivaLeBeaver · 23/01/2018 08:15

NEC meeting is today. I've heard rumours they're going to announce self IDing trans women can be on AWS.

genehuntswife · 23/01/2018 08:21

When you realise that one of the admin on the site and is high up in your local council... how does one go about complaint about that ?

AngryAttackKittens · 23/01/2018 08:25

*I have never come across a trans male who isn’t either a narcissistic shit bag or a deeply damaged individual. I want to know why this isn’t talked about and acknowledged? Why are we not calling it what it is, a mental disorder?

Lily is a young adult with an attachment disorder and cripplingly low self esteem who realised hanging his pink hat on the Trans train bought him attention and an audience. I don’t for a second believe he has any kind of dysmorphia.*

The first part of this is bang on, and I wish it was possible to say it without the inevitable chorus of "oh you're so mean, that might hurt their feelings", but in terms of Madigan I'd mostly just diagnose him with being a smug little shit, which is not a psychiatric condition.

I am so so concerned that if this becomes 'normal' policy at government level, policy will filter down to education.

The majority of teachers are clueless about gender stereotypes especially in my experience primary. (As brief trawl of the TES boards shows) and things are very binary at that age. But this makes any child pushing against those stereotypes vulnerable to being thought of as trans. Most staff aren't equipped to understand, advise or deal with it (especially younger staff - you can get entire schools where all the teaching staff are under 30).

If policy influencers are operating at union level as well - and sacking people who don't agree with them eg Kiri - and the government is giving grants to organisations promoting this particular kind of ideology in schools (I'll have to search for the link), and schools are delegating our and buying in people to deliver without their own understanding being clear, this could become increasingly messy and confusing for young children and their families.

Government policy MUST be clearer on all of this from the top down.

Mainstream, centre and centre left press need to be more involved in this for people to take notice.

I used to dismiss anything written in the times as it's the times. Same with DM. I've developed a critical filter now but who else does this? We are used to being spoon fed what's right and wrong, and the general population rely on this.

Ekphrasis · 23/01/2018 08:30

(Not that Kiri has been sacked, but it seems certain people want to for her beliefs.)

Terrylene · 23/01/2018 08:31

It is already filtering up as lobby groups are allowed to do inclusion training - Cameron's plan of getting the charities to do public work.

Ekphrasis · 23/01/2018 08:36

Yes that's what I mean.

Should link but School run.

Can I identify out of that please?

affectionincoldclimate · 23/01/2018 08:58

Ea

affectionincoldclimate · 23/01/2018 09:02

Oh dear. DD grabbed the phone and sent the message before it was finished Grin

All I wanted to say is: I'm following with interest and thank you for all the debate on the topic. When I first joined mumsnet my view on trans issues was along the lines of "oh what's the harm, why can't we all get along". Thanks to the Mumsnet community debating these issues with huge amount of thought and evidence I can now see the absurdity of what's going on and the blatant trampling over women's rights in favour of trans activists. It's actually mind-boggling. Thank you for what you do guys.

Ereshkigal · 23/01/2018 09:05

Arguably it is against the EA. But it needs to be tested in court.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 23/01/2018 09:10

Good thing there's a wee legal fundraiser then... Grin

Ekphrasis · 23/01/2018 09:22

Affectionate, I was the same.

TheCunkOfPhilomena · 23/01/2018 09:29

Can all social media people please use this hashtag, especially today as we are expecting the statement that Labour are supporting self-id for all posts, including all women shortlists:

#LabourLosingWomen

We need this to go viral. I am so upset I really don't know what to do, I'm going to resign from my officer role and looking at my membership too.

Gacapa · 23/01/2018 09:30

Thanks as always everyone on here.

We are taking advice and also going to the police.

I don't want to out my friend. But I am in a rage. A middle aged woman who works her arse off and raises children on her own and is strong has been wrecked by worry due to some little shit of a kid who is supposed to be representing women. It's an irony of momentous proportions.

SHAME ON THE LABOUR PARTY.

TheCunkOfPhilomena · 23/01/2018 09:35

Completely agree Gacapa. The same thing has happened to a couple of my friends, I cannot believe this is happening.

I'm meant to be doing Labour Party work this week, my local party are great and there are lots of gender critical members but I am torn now.

RedToothBrush · 23/01/2018 09:38

AssignedPuuurfectAtBirth its taken ten years and all the shit coming out recently for him to go wtf.

He thought I was exaggerating until I started to show him tweet after tweet after tweet of this stuff.

Up until then i've had to deal with him saying "there is no problem, I don't understand why it upsets you so much".

And this is despite him being treated like utter shit by my sibling and my siblings ex. (Me and my Dad too have been treated poorly too, whilst my mum has been smothered with love). Despite being prejudged and totally supportive about it all too.

GinAndSonic · 23/01/2018 09:41

I know people are leaving labour over this but I've actually joined so I can make my voice heard on this.

redshoeblueshoe · 23/01/2018 09:49

Gin if you are female the LP can't hear you

GinAndSonic · 23/01/2018 09:51

I know, but I feel like I have to try.
My local (female) MP doesn't seem to have voiced support for any of the self id crap, so there's hope surely?

NannyOggsKnickers · 23/01/2018 09:55

You aren’t alone Gin. I joined too to try to help the women inside the party who are fighting.

I wish I could email Jennifer James and tell her she has all my support. I doubt it would get through the mass of abuse she’s getting.

Does anyone fancy a petition or mass e-mailing along the lines of ‘I stand with Jennifer James’?

Datun · 23/01/2018 10:16

It looks as though the NEC are going to announce this afternoon that they are allowing self ID.

Labour women have been seriously lobbying NEC members yesterday and today, and today are going to really go for it with the twitter handle #LabourLosingWomen

PLEASE let @UKLabour know they are losing women members and voters.

Urgently.

I almost can't believe this is happening.

RedToothBrush · 23/01/2018 10:19

In case anyone is wondering apparently the LDs ALREADY have all women short lists which allow self ID.
