Lily Madigan and Aisling Musson are asking for 'screenshots and evidence of transphobic behaviour' so they can make Labour 'a truly safe space for all members regardless of their gender identity or lack thereof.' In other words, doxxing people so they can be thrown out of the party for gender-critical views.

The group write-up is:

A group formed to oppose the rising tide of Transphobia in the UK Labour Party and to seek to make the Party a truly safe space for all members regardless of their gender identity or lack thereof.

PLEASE READ THE PINNED POST

If you have screenshots and evidence of transphobic behaviour please put them in the google drive folder rather than offloading them straight into the group as it may otherwise be overwhelming and trans members should have the option to not have to look at upsetting comments.

Do not add anyone unless you are sure that they:

  1. Are a member of the Labour Party
  2. Believe the basis of gender is self-definition
  3. Think that transphobia is grounds for expulsion from the party
  4. Respect the autonomy of trans people to direct the fight against transphobia (I.e will not take decisions against the will of trans people)

If you are a trans and/or non binary person and you would like to be added to the secret group (trans/nb people only) please message lily madigan or aisling musson and we will add you.

Rules:

  • No advocacy for violence, threats of violence of other illegal acts (quite apart from the morality of it, please do not get this group shut down)
  • This is a not a discourse group. If you do not agree that transphobia is bad, that the Labour party has it and that we should fight it, this is not a group for you.
  • Be respectful. As far as possible, please always be friendly, respectful and comradely and treat others as you would wish to be treated.
-No members of other parties.
  • TERF is not a slur.

Gapaca

If your friend gets any shit from your employer pm me.

Point out to them that beliefs are a protected characteristic and if they sack or discipline her for her beliefs they are breaching the equality act of 2010. (there's qualification but feminism and therefore radical feminism and / or being gender critical I believe would qualify - veganism for example recently stood up in a tribunal as a protected characteristic)

If she doesn't have who she works for on her public profiles she can't be in trouble for bringing the company into disrepute etc either so get her to check where this is

And get her to phone the police and report this harrasement

Hammerofthetwat · 22/01/2018 20:39

Thanks Shoes. He’s a personal friend, so I’m pleased. He’s pretty damn righteous on things.

Theowlinthepussyhat · 22/01/2018 20:40

Facebook, LinkedIn, company website, to name but a few.

I've shared the WPUK flyer on FB, saying that it's in support of Venice Allen. I'll wait to see what comments I get before I post anything else.

catgirl1976 · 22/01/2018 20:40

And good work Hammer. I'd be happy to talk to Nick Cohen though I've not received any direct threats.

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 22/01/2018 20:42

I donated with my name but I'm ten-a-penny & not in Labour, so they're highly unlikely to find me. You're doing great stuff, Hammer.

Hammerofthetwat · 22/01/2018 20:42

I’m angry for you guys, but I’m not surprised. This is always how the left has operated. I’m just sad it happens. Doxxing women is the lowest of the low.

Labour should be a broad church and mainstream party, not niche. It’s all terribly concerning for the electorate. And to be honest downright insulting.

RedToothBrush · 22/01/2018 20:43

A little IT knowledge makes it easier than you think to internet stalk someone.

People often give away more information than you think.

I don't want to scare anyone here saying this. Its frightening when you see it done (DH is an internet geek and has done some security related work, so knows a lot of tricks).

But all that said, I'm still here and I don't name change on MN, and I use social media.

Because you have to still keep living or they win anyway.

NotTerfNorCis · 22/01/2018 20:43

Thanks for your work on this @Hammer!

Labour are supposed to be issuing a statement on all-women shortlists and gender self-identification. Some of us have written reminding them that sex (NOT gender) is a protected characteristic under the 2010 Act and that this is the basis for all-women shortlists.

If they bend to the trans-activists there could be a lot of resignations from the party.

RedToothBrush · 22/01/2018 20:44

Nick Cohen would be cracking on this one. I thought the subject would be right up his street and hoped he'd cover it at some point.

Anlaf · 22/01/2018 20:46

Nick Cohen is really great on censorship and on when left-wing politics goes wrong. Awesome.

Hammerofthetwat · 22/01/2018 20:51

Fingers crossed.

Battleax · 22/01/2018 21:07

Has anyone got a shareable non-MN link about Venice's suspension?

NotTerfNorCis · 22/01/2018 21:19

Does anyone fancy joining an email campaign? I received this today:

Labour women are sending letters en masse to Ian McNicol and Andy Kerr to show how many are against including self-ID trans identified males in all women shortlists.

I thought you might want to do it too:

an urgent email campaign to Ian McNicol (Gen Sec) and Andy Kerr (NEC Chair) is needed to demonstrate the strength of feeling of women members. The NEC will apparently be making a decision on self-ID early next week. Please write as a matter of urgency. Email [email protected] and [email protected], and CC to Yasmine Dar, Jon Lansman and Rachel Garman (email addresses below in comments).
Only sheer weight of numbers will be enough to put the willies up them and (hopefully) put the brakes on this.
I suggest you make the following points in your emails (but type in your own words):

  1. We understand the NEC may shortly make an announcement on self-identification of gender
  2. This is not Labour Party policy. There has never been a discussion, debate or vote about this in conference. This discussion is urgently needed. More members are realising what self-identification means, and are increasingly unhappy with the impacts of this on women's rights to organise and define themselves, and the sex-based protections we fought hard for. This is also unpopular with the electorate and will cost us votes
  3. Self-identification of 'gender' is contrary to the Equality Act 2010 where 'sex' is a protected characteristic. All-Women's Shortlists, for instance, are clearly covered in the Equality Act under the protected characteristic of 'sex'.
  4. The Labour Party Rules clearly uses the term 'woman' throughout and not 'self-defining woman' when describing roles and functions created to tackle sexism (with one exception of the Youth Equalities officer for women)
  5. Please produce the Equality Impact Assessment for any potential policy change, to assess the impact on women as a sex, and the ability of the Labour Party to measure sex discrimination and sex equality
CC your emails to the following CLP NEC members: [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] [email protected]

Then leader is just [email protected]

@Hammer keep at it you are brilliant.

I've learned so much from reading the feminism threads. Genuinely shocked about the potential new law about gender identity.

Does it mean that any man can say I'm a woman now' and use tie women's changing rooms and toilets etc? That's just ridiculous. We have to stop that happening

Battleax · 22/01/2018 21:29

Yes that's what it means Officer.

ShoesHaveSouls · 22/01/2018 21:33

Yes, it means exactly that, OfficerGrant. And do your smear test, or be a rape crisis counsellor, or take your daughter's place on any AWS, or go into a University women's college or hall of residence, or take your daughter's place on a women's sport team.

I'd e-mail my MP, but it's Michael Fallon.

NotTerfNorCis - can labour voters do the emails? I'd do it - I'm a genuine labour voter, but not a party member.

OfficerGrant · 22/01/2018 21:33

Bloody hell.
That's what I explained to my dh. He looked at me like I was mad. We need to engage regular men as the absurdity of this.
Surely all the MPs won't agree to this? It's putting at risk half their constituency

OfficerGrant · 22/01/2018 21:34

Sport too? Well that's the end of women in sport then isn't it. Jeez.

DamnDeDoubtanceIsSpartacus · 22/01/2018 21:41

Just catching up with the thread. Nothing to add but happy to see so many women coming together to protect our rights.

Hammerofthetwat · 22/01/2018 21:44

Engaging men is important. Totally. Once they realise how barmy this is, they get on board. A fair few of the gay community think this is bonkers too.

Battleax · 22/01/2018 21:45

Sport too? Well that's the end of women in sport then isn't it. Jeez.

Yes that's what made me see the threat.

KillDora · 22/01/2018 21:45

The rate people are 'peak transing' seems to be increasing.

My extremely liberal Aunt has just been talking about it!

NotTerfNorCis · 22/01/2018 21:46

@ShoesHaveSouls Anyone can email.

The TRAs have already been onto Rachel Garnham and think she's onside.
