Lily Madigan and Aisling Musson are asking for 'screenshots and evidence of transphobic behaviour' so they can make Labour 'a truly safe space for all members regardless of their gender identity or lack thereof.' In other words, doxxing people so they can be thrown out of the party for gender-critical views.

The group write-up is:

A group formed to oppose the rising tide of Transphobia in the UK Labour Party and to seek to make the Party a truly safe space for all members regardless of their gender identity or lack thereof.

PLEASE READ THE PINNED POST

If you have screenshots and evidence of transphobic behaviour please put them in the google drive folder rather than offloading them straight into the group as it may otherwise be overwhelming and trans members should have the option to not have to look at upsetting comments.

Do not add anyone unless you are sure that they:

  1. Are a member of the Labour Party
  2. Believe the basis of gender is self-definition
  3. Think that transphobia is grounds for expulsion from the party
  4. Respect the autonomy of trans people to direct the fight against transphobia (I.e will not take decisions against the will of trans people)

If you are a trans and/or non binary person and you would like to be added to the secret group (trans/nb people only) please message lily madigan or aisling musson and we will add you.

Rules:

  • No advocacy for violence, threats of violence of other illegal acts (quite apart from the morality of it, please do not get this group shut down)
  • This is a not a discourse group. If you do not agree that transphobia is bad, that the Labour party has it and that we should fight it, this is not a group for you.
  • Be respectful. As far as possible, please always be friendly, respectful and comradely and treat others as you would wish to be treated.
-No members of other parties.
  • TERF is not a slur.

Everyone should have just compared TRAs to Hitler. They definitely wouldn't have got kicked out the party then.

BelaLugosisShed · 22/01/2018 18:29

I’m facebook friends with Venice, she definitely said it! Perhaps she’s had to remove it.

SophoclesTheFox · 22/01/2018 18:32

This just gets worse and worse.

Is that true about Venice? Has there been any evidence? I know she does a lot in this space, but I also believe that she has on occasion not been entirely clear about some stuff that's happened.

I mean - I can absolutely believe it is happening, don't get me wrong. Is anyone else involved?

Information relating to membership of a political party is treated as "sensitive" information for processing purposes. It is never OK to use it for purposes other than that for which it was given by the person involved, and there are specific provisions on how it is handled to reflect this.

I think this is the angle to lean on. The breach of privacy. It's got nothing to do with who's right or wrong on the question of AWS. It's just the law. And the legislative environment in which this bunch of authoritarian yahoos are making these data breaches is that, with GDPR coming in May, the competent authorities are moving towards a tighter regulation of personal data. The LP has to know this. They ought to be putting provisions in place now, and that they're not is quite troubling.

genehuntswife · 22/01/2018 18:33

Does anyone else feel like they’ve missed something. Like an important memo that everyone else got. All these smug people shouting “trans women are women #nodebate) and I’m like...no, they’re not , not even near. What on earth have I not been cc’d into , what am I missing?

Ekphrasis · 22/01/2018 18:35

Link to the WPUK flyer; it's not been shared very much on twitter.

BelaLugosisShed · 22/01/2018 18:38

She posted the actual suspension letter.

Ekphrasis · 22/01/2018 18:40

Does anyone else feel like they’ve missed something.

Yes. I don't get it. What I do think though is many people if they knew and understood it, would be perplexed. Some would accept the spoon feeding not wanting to be though of as bigots or old fashioned. A few would protest but be confused about the wider picture and so keep quiet.

So there needs to be very clear and carefully written info on it (like that flyer). I'm liking WPUK a lot.

(To add, not a labour member, or always a labour voter either or particularly political but this has hit under my skin.)

May I ask if other parties have AWS? What's going on in theirs?

horseyhorsey17 · 22/01/2018 18:42

Venice has posted on FB about being suspended from Labour. The grounds appear to be that she's posted 'Paris Lees is a man' and the same about various other transactivists on Twitter.

So it looks like the little boys' witchhunt is working.

Labour is an absolute joke.

againstvaw · 22/01/2018 18:42

Lily claims that Lily can get pregnant. On the basis that one day technology may make it possible for males to be impregnated, Lily says that justifies saying that Lily can get pregnant.

In the same way, Lily may one day be able to get a GRC. So that justifies Lily saying that Lily has a GRC.

genehuntswife · 22/01/2018 18:46

Brilliant, I have a PhD in linoleum flooring...I mean I haven’t at this moment, but one day I could..so you know

crunchymint · 22/01/2018 18:47

I run Mumsnet.
I mean I don't....but one day I could.

Hammerofthetwat · 22/01/2018 18:47

To be honest the GRA is bigger than labour. That’s why a lot of people are angry. The little shit list is just the icing on the cake and the catalyst for the press to latch on too. This is massive. And I’m sorry you are having a bad time in the party, but that’s labour for you. I had a horrendous time when I was targeted by Labour antisemites. Labour is toxic. Don’t enable this.

Vicxy · 22/01/2018 18:48

Some of them say they are.

Great. The little shits aren't going to get away with this in that case. And Labour will be forced to take a stand one way or the other. I am so worried about which stand they decide to take though, genuinely.

genehuntswife · 22/01/2018 18:51

How do you all stop yourself going bat sh£t crazy...I’m seriously going to break my expensive dental work if I grind my teeth much more.

Gileswithachainsaw · 22/01/2018 18:53

So he obtains information.illegally and the victims get suspended for stating biology?

DaisyDrip · 22/01/2018 18:57

My parents were committed and loyal Labour voters all their lives, they will be turning in their graves at this development. My dad was a real gentleman and the idea a man claiming to be a woman could push woman out of their role and allow men to appear on AWS would have infuriated him. My mum would have blown her top.

This current situation is intolerable.

Labour is no longer the Labour Party my parents supported and it scares the hell out of me.

Ereshkigal · 22/01/2018 18:57

I don't get it? How can these people be so blind and so thick? Do you think deep down they know this is all a load of shit but the need to virtue signal and show everyone how 'inclusive' they are is stronger?

I know. That's what I find hardest, the blind acceptance. Lily is a narcissist. This is the kind of thing narcissists do. It's what rocks their world. But these hunning idiots, FFS!

crunchymint · 22/01/2018 18:58

Seen one of the women named saying she is reporting this to the police.

horseyhorsey17 · 22/01/2018 18:59

So....are Labour going to support the women or the transactivists in this, or are they going to do nothing and hope it all somehow goes away, or something? My money is on the latter. Although suspending Venice suggests possibly they're going to just going to throw all the female party members who've actually campaigned in General Elections - instead of being in the party for five minutes and working to kick women out, like Madigan is doing, which let's face it isn't going to win them any elections - under a bus.

According to Jennifer James' Twitter account, most of Labour Against Transphobia are natal males. What a surprise, eh? Ahhhh misogyny - it's got a new face now (and lipstick) but it's the same old same old.

SophoclesTheFox · 22/01/2018 19:00

Blimey flip, bela, sorry for being a doubting Thomas Shock

This is insane.

crunchymint · 22/01/2018 19:01

Venice comes from a big Labour Party family I think?

Ereshkigal · 22/01/2018 19:04

In other words ANY Labour member can complain to the Labour party over data protection concerns they might have arising out of this. I would suggest that the line to take is around the security and storage of information.

If the Labour party do not give you an answer you are happy with, you then have the right to complain to the ICO. If Labour do fuck all and the ICO got a number of similar complaints, then I'd have thought they would be duty bound to investigate.

Thank you. I will do that, and take it to the ICO if no success with Labour.

Actus · 22/01/2018 19:05

You aren't alone, there are more of us than you think. If and when I get expelled from the party I shall see the expulsion notice as a badge of honour for standing up for not only what I believe to be true but what is materially factually true.

Ereshkigal · 22/01/2018 19:13

I don't see a way forward which doesn't end badly for someone, simply because there is so much emotional energy invested into it and the collision course is fully set, with few options for anyone to back down.

I don't get pleasure from knowing that there seems to be an inevitability about it now. At the same time, it can't be resolved without that.

100% agree with every word of this. There is no putting the genie back in this bottle.
