Lily Madigan and Aisling Musson are asking for 'screenshots and evidence of transphobic behaviour' so they can make Labour 'a truly safe space for all members regardless of their gender identity or lack thereof.' In other words, doxxing people so they can be thrown out of the party for gender-critical views.

The group write-up is:

A group formed to oppose the rising tide of Transphobia in the UK Labour Party and to seek to make the Party a truly safe space for all members regardless of their gender identity or lack thereof.

PLEASE READ THE PINNED POST

If you have screenshots and evidence of transphobic behaviour please put them in the google drive folder rather than offloading them straight into the group as it may otherwise be overwhelming and trans members should have the option to not have to look at upsetting comments.

Do not add anyone unless you are sure that they:

  1. Are a member of the Labour Party
  2. Believe the basis of gender is self-definition
  3. Think that transphobia is grounds for expulsion from the party
  4. Respect the autonomy of trans people to direct the fight against transphobia (I.e will not take decisions against the will of trans people)

If you are a trans and/or non binary person and you would like to be added to the secret group (trans/nb people only) please message lily madigan or aisling musson and we will add you.

Rules:

  • No advocacy for violence, threats of violence of other illegal acts (quite apart from the morality of it, please do not get this group shut down)
  • This is a not a discourse group. If you do not agree that transphobia is bad, that the Labour party has it and that we should fight it, this is not a group for you.
  • Be respectful. As far as possible, please always be friendly, respectful and comradely and treat others as you would wish to be treated.
-No members of other parties.
  • TERF is not a slur.

Ginger that is awful! WTF?!

Hammerofthetwat · 22/01/2018 16:03

This train ain’t stopping. They can do what they like. popcorn

Akire · 22/01/2018 16:04

Anyone’s who read the original fund raiser can see it clear says Trans are welcome in Labour Party but just not to take up AWS at least until who this includes has been clarified by Labour Party. No one has said they are not welcome. At least if they are goingbe so aggressive to us for that, they could at least get it right.

Deadlylampshade · 22/01/2018 16:04

Oh my god that crowd funder is so annoying. Well of course if you think the issue is we don’t want trans people standing for elected office you’re going to think we’re evil!

No poppet. We want the Labour Party rules to reflect the current law.

Nineteenagain · 22/01/2018 16:06

To exclude trans women from standing for elected office
This is a blatant lie.

Grin I had that reaction too. It is however representative of the TRAs' erm... unconventional use of language in general.

Hammer get some sleep! Flowers

Ekphrasis · 22/01/2018 16:11

I don't know if this has been shared but WPUK created this flyer which to me clarifies how non- transphobic it is:

Our trans siblings?

Seriously?

This has cult written all over it. It's dangerous and misleading.

TheCopyist · 22/01/2018 16:12

FYI

What is considered fraud on GoFundMe?
A campaign organizer may be committing fraud if:
They are intentionally including factually incorrect information on their campaign.

BeyondWW · 22/01/2018 16:14

Ooo interesting, copyist...

Collidascope, I usually reign in my inner pedant - but I can make an exception for the TRAs Grin

GuardianLions · 22/01/2018 16:15

Is that Aisling on the crowdfunder the same Aisling who seemed to be making the most comments on the spreadsheet?

When she wakes up she is going to feel like such a tit

Deadlylampshade · 22/01/2018 16:20

I’m genuinely concerned that that is what people think though. That we just don’t want trans people in politics. How is that happening? What can we do to remedy it?

AnachronisticCorpse · 22/01/2018 16:28

Can anyone comment on it to refute that? I’m a bit chicken as you have to link it to your FB.

AbsintheFriends · 22/01/2018 16:33

I think this is what came across from the Guido Fawkes article, which is really unfortunate. The self-identification angle needs to be emphasised as that's where the really dangerous madness lies.

bellabelly · 22/01/2018 16:36

@BeyondWW or even "rein in" your inner pedant. Sorry, couldn't resist!

Geronimoleapinglizards · 22/01/2018 16:36

I cannot stand Rod Liddle bit for once I'm glad he's covering sonething I care about. It needs some media attention

GuardianLions · 22/01/2018 16:37

That we just don’t want trans people in politics. How is that happening? What can we do to remedy it?

I think it defeats our purposes to always be on the defensive, countering their lies. We should stick to what we do mean otherwise onlookers will get really confused.

ie- rather than:
TRA: You want to erase transwomen
Feminist: No, we welcome transwomen, its just that we don't want this to come at the expense of women
Onlooker: F*cked if I know what they are on about, I'm staying out of it

This would be better imo:
TRA: You want to erase transwomen
Feminist: I am fighting for women's rights
Onlooker: Strange - I don't see why there is a conflict. Might look into it when I can be bothered later

Hammerofthetwat · 22/01/2018 16:38

You might hate Rod, but Burchill, Moore and Bindell all get on with him. And he’s on board with this. He will so brilliant work. Promise.

AnachronisticCorpse · 22/01/2018 16:38

I’ve reported it to GoFundMe for breaking their terms, as it contains factually incorrect information.

Beachcomber · 22/01/2018 16:38

I think it's best ignored. It's raised 70 quid and I don't think it will come to anything much.

I really don't think the lie about money being raised to keep trans identified people out of public office will be believed or cared about by many.

Although I do think we should point out to gofundme that this campaign breaks their rules.

Deadlylampshade · 22/01/2018 16:39

Unfortunately I think we’re going to get more allies on the right with this because they don’t care about being called a ‘phobe’.

This issue has really opened my eyes to how all this silencing works and I’m far more likely not to take things at face value.

BeyondWW · 22/01/2018 16:40

I blame the autocorrect. Grin

Vicxy · 22/01/2018 16:42

At least one of the names in the evidence folder has been suspended from the Labour Party.

How do you know this, this is ridiculous if true..

They've got their own crowdfunder now to raise money for bloody Mermaids.

Another ridiculous one as surely anyone who wants to donate to Mermaids would go direct and give to them.

This is just like the other one where I would be very shocked if the money actually went where they say its going as instead of raising awareness of the fundraiser, they would be canvassing for people to donate actually to mermaids or donating themselves..
