Labour Against Transphobia Facebook group

Lily Madigan and Aisling Musson are asking for 'screenshots and evidence of transphobic behaviour' so they can make Labour 'a truly safe space for all members regardless of their gender identity or lack thereof.' In other words, doxxing people so they can be thrown out of the party for gender-critical views.

The group write-up is:

A group formed to oppose the rising tide of Transphobia in the UK Labour Party and to seek to make the Party a truly safe space for all members regardless of their gender identity or lack thereof.

PLEASE READ THE PINNED POST

If you have screenshots and evidence of transphobic behaviour please put them in the google drive folder rather than offloading them straight into the group as it may otherwise be overwhelming and trans members should have the option to not have to look at upsetting comments.

Do not add anyone unless you are sure that they:

  1. Are a member of the Labour Party
  2. Believe the basis of gender is self-definition
  3. Think that transphobia is grounds for expulsion from the party
  4. Respect the autonomy of trans people to direct the fight against transphobia (I.e will not take decisions against the will of trans people)

If you are a trans and/or non binary person and you would like to be added to the secret group (trans/nb people only) please message lily madigan or aisling musson and we will add you.

Rules:

  • No advocacy for violence, threats of violence of other illegal acts (quite apart from the morality of it, please do not get this group shut down)
  • This is a not a discourse group. If you do not agree that transphobia is bad, that the Labour party has it and that we should fight it, this is not a group for you.
  • Be respectful. As far as possible, please always be friendly, respectful and comradely and treat others as you would wish to be treated.
-No members of other parties.
  • TERF is not a slur.

No worries. I think you follow me on Twitter. I’m (((red-tory))) there. If you guys want to help, please message me. Trying to get Rod Liddle and Nick Cohen on board.

Hammerofthetwat · 22/01/2018 12:26

Oh and the mail have now contacted me.

horseyhorsey17 · 22/01/2018 12:27

Seen on a friend's FB page that one of the instigators of this list is already threatening to harm himself.

So it's all textbook so far.

Hammerofthetwat · 22/01/2018 12:29

Someone call them a wa-mbulance.

EamonnWright · 22/01/2018 12:30

The reason they want to close down any chat about it is because they know it doesn't stand up to any scrutiny

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 22/01/2018 12:30

horsey Your post makes me feel a bit uncomfortable. I think it's ok to point out that abusive males may threaten self harming as a control tactic. It makes me a bit uneasy being cycnical about a particular person saying they feel this way.

And if it is the person I think it is they really do seem to have some serious issues.

EamonnWright · 22/01/2018 12:31

Seen on a friend's FB page that one of the instigators of this list is already threatening to harm himself

Imagine my surprise Hmm

GuardianLions · 22/01/2018 12:31

Hammer have you seen this thread?www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/3144275-Urgent-Ive-had-a-phishing-email-re-my-donation-to-gofundme?pg=8 because it might be worth posting in there too - it has been running simultaneously and its possible there's a link

Hammerofthetwat · 22/01/2018 12:33

Hey Guardian, I’ll send this to my contacts. Thank you so much. Conservative Woman hasn’t bitten and committed. Other journalists are gonna get back to me.

Cuntysnark · 22/01/2018 12:34

Thank you to all the women here, I'm in a pit of despondency over this, but reading the threads here gives me hope. I'm following people on Twitter but not posting, my 3 children are trans activists & I'm horror struck at the absurdity of their beliefs & lack of listening or questioning, so I'm only using Twitter to read, I don't need to give my children any ammunition. I think I'm waffling here but my head is all over the place.

cafeaulaitpourvous · 22/01/2018 12:38

@Cuntysnark same here - can't mention anything in twitter as my daughter follows me and she already thinks I have a terfy attitude

Deadlylampshade · 22/01/2018 12:40

‘Terf attitude’ Grin

ShoesHaveSouls · 22/01/2018 12:41

Hey hang on, I agree with ItsAll - there is clearly a vulnerable young adult involved here (not talking about Lily) - who does have serious mental health issues.

Let's not turn this into our own witch hunt.

Jennifer James has been most clear that she didn't want the press involved, and she didn't want this to be used as a stick to beat Jeremy Corbyn or the LP.

Hammerofthetwat · 22/01/2018 12:45

It’s public I’m afraid. And the press have a duty to print this. Too many depoliticised women don’t understand what the GRA means. And quite frankly I give no fucks about Corbyn. None at all. Like Mandleson I work daily to undermine that antisemite. This has to be cross party. Let’s not go all political sect mad political purity. This is why this is happening in the first place. And Jennifer is not the only one on that list, a bunch of people are. It’s out there. It must be public.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 22/01/2018 12:45

TBH I think the press should be involved, but a witch hunt is never a good look. This only "broke" yesterday and hopefully there will be some bods in Labour putting their own disciplinary process into place.

As a generalisation what happened is very reportable and a shocking indictment of labour. But mocking individuals who obviously have issues who are threatening self-harm is not on.

MrsUnderwood · 22/01/2018 12:46

Thanks for bringing this to people’s attention. I’m fucking appalled and have just resigned my membership.

BeyondWW · 22/01/2018 12:47

JJ was talking about the gfm though when she said that - I haven't seen her say the details of the potential misuse of data (which is an offence under the DPA) was not for the press.

Vicxy · 22/01/2018 12:47

Yes I think LM (insert whichever first name you feel is more appropriate) may well be trolling to expose the ridiculousness of the left.

But Lily could possibly have got themselves into trouble with the law over this whole thing. I am not too up to date on it all but surely breaching data protection in this was is an actual crime, that could possibly have a criminal record attatched to it? Or is it just a large fine? Either way, its gone a bit far to be deliberate trolling surely. Noone would get themselves into this amount of trouble to expose how ridiculous the left is Confused Unless Lily is just too thick to realise there could be very serious consequences for their actions of course. Or so arrogant that they think deleting all trace and denying it will be enough for it not to come to anything...but once something is on the net it stays there forever, deleting the group is no good as facebook will still have record of it all and IF it did go to court and a judge ordered facebook to hand over the evidence...well, the wide eyed denying will not help them at all.

Deadlylampshade · 22/01/2018 12:48

I agree that we have to very careful not to put ourselves into a precarious situation and we have to be sensitive when dealing with this as these are real people and I wouldn’t want harm to come to any of them.
But I do think it’s wortb pointing out that there is a particular pattern of behaviour when trying to silence women and threats of self harm is one of the behaviours.
Obviously I think all self harm is horrendous and the person doing it must be unwell but I think we need to be aware that it can also be used as a silencing technique.
I don’t however think we should be making jokes about it.

Hammerofthetwat · 22/01/2018 12:51

I took an overdose on NYE, hasn’t stopped the non stop abuse I get from the hard left. My heart breaks. Seriously, this is textbook gaslighting and abuse. The Mail have confirmed now btw.

ShoesHaveSouls · 22/01/2018 12:53

I think some press exposure is good - this needs to be more out there - particularly the way the GRA and self ID is going to affect women and girls.

But please no witch hunt - that (very) young autistic lad is very vulnerable - and I really hate to think what the Daily Fail would do with this.

BeyondWW · 22/01/2018 12:54

Vicxy, this is an interesting read...
www.cps.gov.uk/legal-guidance/data-protection-act-1998-criminal-offences

BeyondWW · 22/01/2018 12:55

From section 10 dpa...

"A persons name and address may already be in the public domain but that does not mean that it is any less personal data. Any processing of that data, including putting it on a website would have to comply with the Data Protection Act."

Hammerofthetwat · 22/01/2018 12:56

The Daily Mail that bought Stephen Laurence’s Killers to justice?! Yeah it’s evil. 🙄

There’s no witch hunt, just someone getting shown up for exactly what they are. I’m not in labour or any party, so I’m not tribal about this. It’s an outrage, it’s a story, and it needs covering.

Vicxy · 22/01/2018 12:57

Glad this is going public. Its absolutely outrageous that this has happened in the first place and surely if it goes public Labour have to make some kind of statement and take action.

As for the abusers 101..yes. I see. I have not been on here ong enough ti spot abusers quickly, but I think I am learning a lot.
