Lily Madigan and Aisling Musson are asking for 'screenshots and evidence of transphobic behaviour' so they can make Labour 'a truly safe space for all members regardless of their gender identity or lack thereof.' In other words, doxxing people so they can be thrown out of the party for gender-critical views.

The group write-up is:

A group formed to oppose the rising tide of Transphobia in the UK Labour Party and to seek to make the Party a truly safe space for all members regardless of their gender identity or lack thereof.

PLEASE READ THE PINNED POST

If you have screenshots and evidence of transphobic behaviour please put them in the google drive folder rather than offloading them straight into the group as it may otherwise be overwhelming and trans members should have the option to not have to look at upsetting comments.

Do not add anyone unless you are sure that they:

  1. Are a member of the Labour Party
  2. Believe the basis of gender is self-definition
  3. Think that transphobia is grounds for expulsion from the party
  4. Respect the autonomy of trans people to direct the fight against transphobia (I.e will not take decisions against the will of trans people)

If you are a trans and/or non binary person and you would like to be added to the secret group (trans/nb people only) please message lily madigan or aisling musson and we will add you.

Rules:

  • No advocacy for violence, threats of violence of other illegal acts (quite apart from the morality of it, please do not get this group shut down)
  • This is a not a discourse group. If you do not agree that transphobia is bad, that the Labour party has it and that we should fight it, this is not a group for you.
  • Be respectful. As far as possible, please always be friendly, respectful and comradely and treat others as you would wish to be treated.
-No members of other parties.
  • TERF is not a slur.

The gaslighting is quite something to see.

How very male.

Gileswithachainsaw · 22/01/2018 07:07

He needs to be fired for this . People have been fired for less. He's clearky trying to cover up we aren't stupid and if there is no fall out it's a sodding conspiracy a woman would not be allowed to get away with it.

Babieseverywhere · 22/01/2018 07:08

But the Labour's membership numbers database will have the searches made by log in recorded. Nothing Lily can do to delete THAT record.

Lily will be the only 'log in' who searched for those particular membership details on the relevant day(s).

Even if Lily says a third party did these searches. Lily should still be sacked for allowing log in details to fall into the hands of a third party.

Either way Lily needs to step down, As for some reason everything Lily touches ends up hacked.

Massive security risk, like giving your 5yo your front door key. They might really want the key but we have to stand firm and say no and ignore the resulting tantrum for everybodies safety.

Surely Labour will see sense now and do the right thing and sack Lily now ?

DailyWTFMoments · 22/01/2018 07:09

someone must be watching over this & should be stepping in when required given their age & clear ignorance of the meaning of acting responsibly in the role they are in.

Democracy shouldn't work like that - afaik Lily was elected as Women's Officer by and for their local Political Party and should only be held to account by them.

Labour are rediscovering that placing power in the hands of the people comes at a price......

SophoclesTheFox · 22/01/2018 07:11

Bloody hell, they're as guilty as a puppy sitting next to a pile of poo!

Unbelievable.

I wonder what preparations Labour have made for the new data protection regulations coming into force in May? They really need to sort this shit out now.

NannyOggsKnickers · 22/01/2018 07:16

I would never do this but if someone tipped the Tories or any the blue press off to the total chaos and in fighting at CLP level at the moment I would cause massive embarrassment to the party and probably #peaktrans a lot of people.

DailyWTFMoments · 22/01/2018 07:20

Nanny - the Tories don't want to draw attention to the infighting in their own party; they won't sling mud because it can be chucked right back at them.

Gileswithachainsaw · 22/01/2018 07:29

Someone's put on the thread about how screenshots aren't admissible in court and can be photo shopped.

Please tell me he won't get away witg it based on that. The evidence against him is overwhelming now and he's already got away with far more than anyone ekse would have.

PlectrumElectrum · 22/01/2018 07:38

I can tell you that is utter crap. Securing evidence from open source online activity is definitely admissible - it has to be gathered in a specific way to preserve its integrity but it's admissible alright.

LizzieSiddal · 22/01/2018 07:39

I’m sure people have been sued based on Tweets they’ve made. Katie Hopkins for one. There are experts who can prove what someone tweeted.

My dd is a similar age to Lily. 20 year olds are capable of doing stupid things, their brains are not yet totally matured and they deserve second chances. BUT if my child was behind something as dispicable as this list, I would be so fucking ashamed and so sad that they were capable of doing something so spiteful, I wouldn’t know what the fuck to do with them apart from marching them to a psychiatrist!

GuardianLions · 22/01/2018 07:41

Yes. Also people have independently screen captutured so our images will corroborate each other. We'll have the dates our images were saved.

QueenLaBeefah · 22/01/2018 07:43

I think what this shows is that Lilly is astonishingly immature for her age and should resign.

TortiousTortoise · 22/01/2018 07:49

I'm sure it's been mentioned before, but I would refer this to the ico and request they investigate. Clearly something is going wrong at the LP in terms of data protection and if they are so blase about who has access to their membership data or indeed can say they are acting for them, then even if the anti biological women stance can't be challenged, this certainly can and most definitely should be.

I work in local government and I'd probably be dismissed for making social media claims about 'pretty data'. Let alone making a 'secret' list of all my colleagues who didn't agree with my views.

RedToothBrush · 22/01/2018 07:53

Just because you delete something online does not mean it has not left a trace. Its a question of getting hold of that information.

Given that social media is under scrutiny for stuff, and they are being told that politically they have to cooperate with authorities in this country more, then that might be more possible than it has been.

There is an element of political will here though. Is there enough for this particular issue? Questionable, especially when Labour infighting suits the Tories and they are looking to gain women voters (or encourage non tory voters to stop voting). I believe that in certain areas of the us it did enough damage to the democrats to tip the balance amongst white women.

ChattyLion · 22/01/2018 07:54

Shock What an unbelievably obnoxious agenda to seek informants to publicly report ‘thoughtcrime’.. genuinely disturbing.

If there has been any mining of the Labour party’s ‘pretty data’ for inappropriate purposes and and putting members’ details into this into a publicly accessible database then this could be illegal. The Information Commissioner’s Office (the regulator for the Data Protection Act) should be informed (anyone can do this including members of the public) because they can conduct their own investigation into whether this breaches the Data Protection Act.

Labour should also obviously do their own immediate investigation into this dystopian ‘activism’ apparently being carried out in their name. Hopefully Labour will also refer the entire thing to the ICO and make a public statement to say they have done so.

Personally I hope the media covers this because it’s really appalling.

(I’m assuming political parties must and do already provide a whistleblowers’ route for anyone genuinely concerned about actual misconduct of a party post-holder to report it. No need for anyone to appoint themselves as the party police.)

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 22/01/2018 07:55

LOL at Lily threatening about being deadnamed or misgendered in the 3rd screenshoot from “ItsAllGoingToBeFine” Grin
Because that is more grave that compiling the list to expel people. He’s deluded.

LizzieSiddal · 22/01/2018 07:59

I agree. It puts me in mind of all the nasty regimes in history, who encouraged the “faithful” to make lists. The people on days lists were then “dealt” with.
Lily is treading a very nasty, well worn path.

Gileswithachainsaw · 22/01/2018 08:01

This has to be it doesn't it?

How much more do they need.

He has shown his intentions and who he really is.

ChattyLion · 22/01/2018 08:05

Agreed Lizzie. Absolutely chilling to be promoting tactics like this.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 22/01/2018 08:09

Is there any possibility at all that this is all a massive set-up to oust Lily?

After all the links to the spreadsheet / files were just dropped here on MN with no comment. It is obvious that they would be shared.

And is it possible that the screenshots from inside the group were faked? - there are not that many sources...

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 22/01/2018 08:15

From my experience long ago as a school governor, I learned that organisations that put a lot of responsibility onto volunteers with minimal scrutiny before electing/appointing them and without giving them the necessary training and oversight are taking a big risk. Political parties seem to be very vulnerable to this.

I had a quick skim through LM's twitter feed last night. Astounded to see a tweet from a few days ago saying how unfair it was that you have to pay to put in a UCAS application and what a disadvantage it was going to put LM at not to be able to apply by the deadline because of not having the money at present. Uncharitably I wonder if that was put there in the hope of attracting a donation from one of the many people who think Lily is fabulous and an inspiration and regularly say so. Hmm I wonder how much money these people will put up to pay for legal representation.

I also wonder why LM doesn't do what most teenagers estranged from their families and struggling for money do and get a job, possibly several jobs, to pay their way. Would provide excellent life experience as well.

Gileswithachainsaw · 22/01/2018 08:16

Why would he hurriedly create a group as a cover if it was faked? He's worried which he wouldn't be if it was all rubbish and they wouldn't find anything

TheCopyist · 22/01/2018 08:20

Is there any possibility at all that this is all a massive set-up to oust Lily?

The group exists and the group compiled the list. I'd like to thank whoever leaked the sheet because, as I said, my name was on it. I would have had no idea that my name was being circulated on a group of several hundred labour members - some of whom are quite high profile - and that I'd been labelled a transphobe.

There was not one shred of evidence against my name. Largely because my 'transphobia' extends to having concerns about the GRA. I've never 'misgendered', 'deadnamed' or been aggressive to anyone online or off. I have asked questions.

FWIW I think the focus on Lily -though understandable because of her profile - is missing the point. This is a large number of Labour Party members, who are active on social media, and thought there was no problem in 'gathering evidence' of people to report or watch because, in most cases, they had the audacity to disagree with them. That is where the Labour Party is now.

Deadlylampshade · 22/01/2018 08:22

I wish people would stop with this ‘lily is 20 crap’

She is 20. 20 years old.

That’s not a child on any level. Yes 20 year olds can do stupid things but she is not a teenager or a child, she is an adult. Lots of twenty tear olds have babies and jobs and homes to looks after, she is behaving like a child and we shouldn’t pander to it.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 22/01/2018 08:24

I have no idea who set this group up or why. However, even if it had been set up as a way of manipulating LM (and I do think that would be easy to do, LM is not the sharpest tool in the box) the fact is that several people who are indisputably Labour Party members were only too happy to pile on and add 'evidence' trawled from social media and made no effort whatsoever to check that they were even targetting Labour Party members! They clearly have no clue about the Data Protection Act and given that some are Labour Party officers with access to membership lists this is concerning.

The arrogance involved is astounding.
