Good news, presumably?
I want to know where that leaves a certain womens officer, surely that ruling counts for every Labour post?

What is with these women? Do they just not think it through?

Why does no one follow an idea to its logical conclusion anymore? Isn’t that basic debating skills?

BarrackerBarmer · 21/01/2018 19:54

They really are utterly humourless Battleax. I mean, the crashing irony of a group of people who are fighting for self id...
....and who are incensed at women teasingly changing their own names on a crowdfund.

Jack Monroe, for instance, isn't actually going by her given name. She's allowed to change. But she'll sue you if you do it.

But then the whole premise is one rule for them, another for you. No concept of equity or fairness.

Blokes with willies have the right to identify as women with vaginas. But women with vaginas DON'T have the right to identify AWAY from blokes with willies.

I've just nearly hacked up my dinner (and a lung) laughing at these. This one fucking killed me 😂😂😂

Reading all of these threads silently in the background, ping-ponging between sadness, shock, disbelief and blood pressure raising rage. The tapestries though... Grin

Anyone who supports Labour given their position on this is in my humble opinion seriously demented

cafeaulaitpourvous · 21/01/2018 21:59

The tapestries are genius - they have actually made me laugh when there hasn't been a lot to laugh about recently

CuppaTeaAndAJammieDodger · 21/01/2018 22:05

Oh god, I’m crying with laughter at the tapestry - brilliant.

OlennasWimple · 21/01/2018 22:45

Those tapestries are genius!

But don't google bayeux.datensalat.net from a work computer or any device where going onto a site that collects materials relevant to sadomasochism might be problematic...

passmethewineplease · 21/01/2018 22:52

I've been trying to get my head around all this...

So am I correct in thinking that anyone who wants to self ID as a woman can then rock up and enter women only spaced? The AWS for example?

Can anyone with a penis self identify as a woman and then access women's spaces?

I am confused. Blush

EamonnWright · 21/01/2018 22:57

Yes. There has already been a rapist moved to a women's prison and the law hasn't even passed yet.

QuentinSummers · 21/01/2018 22:58

passme legally not yet, but in practice yes in a lot of places.
Labour had started to allow self defined women on their shortlists/women's programmes hence the GoFundMe set up to clarify this legally.

QuentinSummers · 21/01/2018 22:58

Read the Tara Hudson thread

All the main political parties support new legislation that will allow this. That legislation hasn't yet been passed, but a lot of bodies (including political parties, the prison service, major retailers, women's groups, gyms, swimming ponds) are starting to behave as if it has been.

Women who object are accused of bigotry and hate speech.

busyboysmum · 21/01/2018 23:05

Also to correct someone earlier in the thread, you don't need to have surgery or take hormones to obtain a GRC. So you could have one and still have your penis.

nauticant · 21/01/2018 23:05

Here's a quick Mickey Mouse summary passmethewineplease:

The government were planning to amend the law so that effectively anyone who wants to self-ID as a woman can then rock up and enter women-only spaces. For some reason their enthusiasm to rush this through has waned and it's not certain it will happen but I still think it's more likely than not. Obviously this would be madness.

The problem though is that brainwashed organisations were so keen to put self-ID policies in place to show how wonderfully forward thinking they are (while not thinking about the women, who gives a fuck about those people? in fact are they actually people?), that self-ID policies are popping up all over the place even though the corresponding law has not been put in place and some of these policies might actually be against the current, as yet unamended, law.

passmethewineplease · 21/01/2018 23:16

Thank you that's really helpful.

I just can't believe it tbh. It makes no sense to me.

I donated to JJ gofundme.

MorrisZapp · 21/01/2018 23:22

Random musing but surely the House of Lords won't let self ID through?

The dozing old farts are quite good when faced with errant nonsense.

EamonnWright · 21/01/2018 23:25

Random musing but surely the House of Lords won't let self ID through

They have made a exemption for their sons to inherit their title believe it or not Smile

thebewilderness · 21/01/2018 23:57

The proposed self identity law is in conflict with the equality law. Rather than discuss and debate, how to comply with the equality law and give all trans people, not just males, the protections they say they need, the trans advocates have demanded #nodebate.

Vicxy · 22/01/2018 13:17

All the main political parties support new legislation that will allow this.

I think the political parties may possibly not be as supportive as they once were. They did only have input from extremist groups such as ActionForTransHeath. They have now had input from women, transsexual people and womens groups. Their MPs have been bombarded with concerns and surely even if they have sent back generic bullshit replies its given them something to think about at least. And once people actually think about it properly, they tend to diagree with the whole thing.

They have made a exemption for their sons to inherit their title believe it or not

Yes, absolute bollocks it is. The lords will pass it as long as this exemption remains.

LangCleg · 22/01/2018 16:12

I think the political parties may possibly not be as supportive as they once were.

I certainly think the Tories are backtracking. Recent letters from ministers confirm that, while they are still considering amending the GRA, they have abandoned plans to change the EA single sex exemption protections. So that is a victory.
