Labour party invents new bollocks made-up non-existent definition for woman

labour.org.uk/members/get-involved/national-youth-elections-2018/

Sixteen uses of the word 'self-defining woman'. Zero uses of 'female', 'biology', or plain 'woman'.

'Woman' is now literally meaningless. A woman can be a bog-standard heterosexual teenage male (Lily Madigan), if he says so.

And obviously with half the places reserved for 'self-defining women' (not 'women', 'self-defining women'), then there's not really any reason why men wouldn't define themselves a women, is there?

If misogynistic shits like Lily Madigan can 'self-define as a woman', well ALL men are women, aren't they?

The whole bloody human race is 'self-defined women'.

Stupid Labour.

They lost my vote when LM was appointed to represent them - in ANY capacity.

Elendon · 11/01/2018 19:47

My son has just made another comment. He supports more women in politics (he's recently met someone he likes). She is politically minded too. However, he feels that she will be overtaken by a 'man' his words, and that his friend will not get a look in politically because she is female.

jeaux90 · 11/01/2018 19:48

I'm with Catgirl. I'd be up for some crowd funding for legal action. Be great to get this right in people's faces. Just been talking the same on twitter about trying to find a SHL who would take it on.

UpABitLate · 11/01/2018 19:51

The whole of feminism has been about and still is about trying to get women recognised as full, whole people who are just as important and capable of making their own decisions etc as men.

This is all about putting us back in the box - no we are not people, we can be self-identified women if we want, or non men, or menstruators, or whatever it is today. The word women, meaning the 50% or so of the population of the world who have a pretty distinct set of challenges and so on around being born to the cry of "it's a girl" and all that goes with it both physically and socially, no longer have any word to describe ourselves as a distinct group. And, this is the aim. To split, divide, and slow or reverse our progress.

Meanwhile 99.9% of people in the world know what a woman is, the old style cunty type, and continue to treat them accordingly.

PricklyBall · 11/01/2018 19:52

I wouldn't hold out for much in the way of crowd funding, btw. I donated to James Caspian's appeal to fund a legal challenge to the University of Bath about a week ago - the amount he's raised has only gone up by a couple of hundred quid since I donated. He's only raised 1/3 of the money he needs, with about 3 weeks to go.

Elendon · 11/01/2018 19:53

I'd be up for crowdfunding to.

Haven't read the full thread yet but think someone over 19yo should apply for the UNDER 19 youth role and tick that they're under 19. Then when it comes to interview or whatever and they say that you're clearly NOT 19 , just reply with " Well, I FEEL 19 yo, I thought we were self defining things nowadays, or does that JUST apply to women?"

catgirl1976 · 11/01/2018 20:02

What if we all email the equalities commission to ask them to investigate

And go to the press. I hate the Daily Fail but they would lap this up

Ereshkigal · 11/01/2018 20:03

It's a great question and I don't have the time now to give it proper consideration but I do think control is the main part of it. Control of reproduction, control of capital, control of society, control of wealth.

I think the main question is what does that have to do with males who feel they are women. This is about women as a sex class.

Elendon · 11/01/2018 20:07

Oh perhaps as a woman in her 50s I could identify as a 19 year old. Which wouldn't be creepy at all.

53rdWay · 11/01/2018 20:15

Think they’ll let us on the front benches if we turn up identifying as the shadow cabinet?

UpABitLate · 11/01/2018 20:15

I think there is a lot more to the idea of trans age than trans anything else.

Time really is relative, we all experience it in a different way. It can be shown that different people's bodies - cell replacement slowdown and whathaveyou - happens at different rates. Some 40 really do have body and brain of 35, some 45. As we age our perception of time changes, time also seems to pass differently depending on if we are doing something new or not. In an emergency people talk about time "slowing down". The idea of someone who "stays young" or is always kind of like an older person is common. And so on.

So trans age to me does feel like it could be a thing.

Of course it wouldn't be allowed as so much of our society is based on calendar age, and of course people in general have shared sets of characteristics at different ages so you have stuff set up around that, plus of course we don't want the likes of stephonknee in schools. But, in general, if a teenager says "I often feel older than all my friends" or a 50yo says "I feel 30" then everyone instinctively can get that.

Anyway. Off topic.

Can I self identify into being eligible for a young persons railcard

Petalflowers · 11/01/2018 20:22

I'm wearing trousers, so can I self-define as a man?!

OlennasWimple · 11/01/2018 20:25

I'm self-identifying into getting my state pension (while there is still one to get)

BobsyourAunt · 11/01/2018 20:27

posted this on the chat thread
The point has probably been made but this was remarkably well played by labour.

Young activist women are all identifying as "non binary" or "agender" so they basically put themselves out of the running for these spots. Meanwhile, transmen who actually are female and will deal with all the shit that comes with female on top of potential transphobia are also put out of the job. They've had exactly the same female socialisation, less likely to put themselves forward. but now get to run against men. Boys that look like boys can wear pnik hoodies and call themselves girls and get the job and it's all great. Well fucking done.

I didn't like the green's "non men" but I didn't realise this was the alternative.

Slow clap for the left for managing to totally erase women while looking like the good guys.

It really is all about Lily isn't it? How can a women's officer be happy about the appointment of an anti-abortion vice chair for women?

This is reflected everywhere else too. Men's desires and opinions trump women's rights over and over and over again.

ALittleBitOfButter · 11/01/2018 20:32

The crux of it is that logically it means that woman means a feeling in your head. Penises are now just as female as vulvas. Talking about abortion, endometriosis as women's issues is trans exclusionary and bigoted. Who decided this? It wasn't women. Women no longer have a definition. Male sex offenders are being recorded in women's statistics, making women even more meaningless.

There are nice trans people, but they are the ones who don't insist they actually are women, or intrude on women's spaces or apply for women only positions. These transwomen are not aggressively trying to redefine woman as a ladybrain.

pisacake · 11/01/2018 20:32

"It really is all about Lily isn't it? How can a women's officer be happy about the appointment of an anti-abortion vice chair for women?
"

Because he only represent transwomen. I.e. men.
