Labour party invents new bollocks made-up non-existent definition for woman

pisacake · 11/01/2018 14:29

labour.org.uk/members/get-involved/national-youth-elections-2018/

Sixteen uses of the word 'self-defining woman'. Zero uses of 'female', 'biology', or plain 'woman'.

'Woman' is now literally meaningless. A woman can be a bog-standard heterosexual teenage male (Lily Madigan), if he says so.

And obviously with half the places reserved for 'self-defining women' (not 'women', 'self-defining women'), then there's not really any reason why men wouldn't define themselves a women, is there?

If misogynistic shits like Lily Madigan can 'self-define as a woman', well ALL men are women, aren't they?

The whole bloody human race is 'self-defined women'.

Stupid Labour.

"What rights do you think trans people currently do not have, that everyone else have?"

I think this is a fair point, thanks for calling me out. I dont think i meant rights as such, I probably don't know enough about anti discrimination legislature but yes trans people can vote and marry etc so you're right to challenge this. I suppose I meant more the attitudes were simar to me, of people afraid of giving more public space (I don't know how to explain it better- more attention, more ???) to a certain part of society.

Sorry I wasn't very clear, I'm reacting without thinking enough!

Datun · 11/01/2018 19:15

I think off the top of my head I could only name Chaz Bono so yeah definitely underrepresented/talked about!

Okay. Good.

Show me the policy that is open to men, and anyone identifying as a man?

There isn't one.

Reason? Men are already over represented.

You won't find Transmen taking positions for men, because diversity quotas aren't necessary for men, or anyone identifying as a man.

This is DIRECTLY damaging women. Not men.

I would in complete agreement for a trans representation, as long as it was 50-50 between transmen and transwomen.

But it it won't happen. Because this is NOT about transpeople. This is about erasing women.

Elendon · 11/01/2018 19:17

I have been asked personally why I no longer wish to be a Party member. I simply said I have no wish to discuss it.

I'm not going to discuss it because to do so would label me a bigot and a transphobe. I am neither. Plus, when I feel the Labour Party have got their senses back, then I will rejoin. Without the labels.

Glitterypinksoap · 11/01/2018 19:17

I don't think anyone's afraid of giving more public space - just that this space should not be taken away from women who have had to fight for their public space for reasons specific to their biology and have their own struggle, and which will silence and derail their specific needs and work towards their own equality.

TakeTheCrown · 11/01/2018 19:17

I won't be guilted into voting for a party who clearly doesn't value women as a sex.

Me neither. Until this nonsense stops they don't have my vote anymore.

Personally I have no problem with a transwoman who has transitioned, but 'self-defining' literally means that any random man can tick the 'female' box on a form and take away a role that was meant for a woman. And there are definitely men out there who would do that - primarily to take a role from a woman. How far does that go until women are severely under represented?

AnachronisticCorpse · 11/01/2018 19:20

Proof, if needed, that Lily Madigan is just trolling us.

I mean I did just say in my last comment that I think trans men need more representation to, it's not that I "don't understand" it but thank you

Yes, sorry! I hadn't refreshed the page.

UpABitLate · 11/01/2018 19:22

Lily was an MRA before "transitioning" weren't they? I seem to remember.

Jimmy saville's apprentice also.

A nasty piece of work. A very male sounding nasty piece of work (how many teenage girls make jokes like that about mass child sex offenders?) who is now women's officer and has applied for jo cox women in leadership program.

Fekko · 11/01/2018 19:23

Lily argues like my 13 year old (but I can at least send him to his room and take his laptop and phone when he gets too irritating).

Ereshkigal · 11/01/2018 19:24

Wrote a post to Race for Life asking why they don't let men compete.

Glitterypinksoap · 11/01/2018 19:26

A very male sounding nasty piece of work (how many teenage girls make jokes like that about mass child sex offenders?) who is now women's officer and has applied for jo cox women in leadership program.

And has zero interest in women's issues, only trans issues as they affect transwomen.

UpABitLate · 11/01/2018 19:26

Yes this is all true.

If a woman is unwilling to sign up to gendercult she is ineligible to run. That is what the blurb says.

Most women don't self identify as women. I don't go around feeling like a woman, in fact when I was younger I was always really angry when I was going about my business feeling like a person and then some bloke felt it was important to remind me that I was female + what my place was by shouting something sexist / obscene at me.

AnachronisticCorpse · 11/01/2018 19:26

It’s like being back at secondary school really. We’ve just managed to secure a seat at the table with the popular kids at lunchtime, and one of the popular kids’ bratty younger brother has just pulled the chair out from under us and claimed it as his own.

stitchglitched · 11/01/2018 19:26

Yes compared men being excluded from Race for Life to the struggles of Rosa Parks.

UpABitLate · 11/01/2018 19:27

Oh yes race for life that was it.

What a little turd. The MRAs always get excited about race for life.

Ereshkigal · 11/01/2018 19:28

Yes compared men being excluded from Race for Life to the struggles of Rosa Parks.

Quite a frequently used comparison, is Rosa.

pisacake · 11/01/2018 19:29

Yeah this is a two-and-a-half-year campaign by Liam Madigan. He was ENRAGED when he was denied access to the Race for Life. archive.is/ShsQy

How DARE women exclude him from something, men should be able to go everywhere.

So he started with his school toilets. www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/entry/transgender-schoolgirl-solicitor-suspension_uk_5800a8dae4b0010a7f3e6647 Then he moved onto the Labour party.

Now he's showed us!

Dicksplash.

I don't think that's evidence that LM is trolling, jsut that LM is a bit thick

Ereshkigal · 11/01/2018 19:32

You speak as if the two things are mutually exclusive Grin

catgirl1976 · 11/01/2018 19:34

How do we start some sort of legal action

I am so angry but I want to DO something. They must be in breach of the Equality Act. There must be something we can actually do - loudly, visibly and with consequences

Datun · 11/01/2018 19:40

This is very telling. We are constantly reminded that we are women.

Not people.

OlennasWimple · 11/01/2018 19:41

true, Ereskigal ! Grin

As an aside, does this post by LM mean that her application to the Jo Cox programme was successful?

gunsandbanjos · 11/01/2018 19:43

I thought sex was a protected characteristic under the equalities act? Or is that why they’ve only done it on the youth side, is there no quotas there?

Gacapa · 11/01/2018 19:43

So a woman who refuses to identify as a self-identifying woman is not eligible for the post.

Fuck off Madigan and fuck off Labour. Apart from anything else, it's embarrassing. Grown adults falling for utter, farcical nonsense.

I have nothing but contempt for this Party I no longer recognise.

ButFirstTea · 11/01/2018 19:44

The question I'd like to ask you is why you think that historically and geographically, across all cultures at all times in history, women have been systematically disadvantaged as a group? Do you think it's just an accident, an accident that's repeated itself over and over again? Or do you think the question is ill posed (and if so, why)?

Please can I have five years of funding to complete a PhD on this???

It's a great question and I don't have the time now to give it proper consideration but I do think control is the main part of it. Control of reproduction, control of capital, control of society, control of wealth. Historically I think that is what has led it, with various religions also buying in to this and exacerbating it as well.
