"Look how far we have come" says Paris Lees in a feature celebrating 100 years since women have had the right to vote in the UK.

Em except - your sex have always had the right to vote.

Or am I missing something?

I'd rather have Danielle Muscato on that cover then Paris Lees.

DeleteOrDecay · 05/01/2018 14:16

Paris Lees does talk to a certain breed of (often young, but not all) porn and prostitution supporting, "sex positive intersectional feminists". Generally fans of postmodernism and queer theory. I've seen women like that rubbish sexual harassment in online discussions and claim women alleging it are just attention seeking.

It's weird. The person I'm talking to is not like that at all. Quite the opposite although not especially old. I don't think this person even knew who PL was until today. They see a trans person and automatically think they are inspiring. Weird. Apparently I can't be educated, yet they used intersex people to try and back up their argument. I have remained calm, hoping one day they will see the light but as of now I'm the worst person in the world for saying transwomen aren't women and never will beGrin

Dear Paris. We know how much you love us. By trolling women so blatantly and appropriating our history do disrespectfully you are just encouraging more and more of us to push back against the transagenda. Cheers 🍻

I have experienced women who have gone through DV who have told me that I (as a survivor) need to 'get over' my fear of biological males in my spaces. That men can access all spaces and so my fear is irrational. They were quite young women. But still. Still working on how I should get over that. Better sign up for some Massive Bigot Evening Classes or summat I suppose.

I think that's a very common position. And they won't be able to argue if you know your stuff because they are just parroting it, like the clownfish Facebook idiot.

Don't worry we'll all be there with you!

Ereshkigal · 05/01/2018 14:22

If we're talking "the very slightly lesser of two possible evils" then I'm glad they chose Paris over Shon Faye. Horrors!

Post Paris's article about sexual harassment and watch them squirm as they try to justify their position and maintain the cognitive dissonance.

DeleteOrDecay · 05/01/2018 14:27

Got a link to the article? The discussion has moved on a bit now and is getting dangerously close to "you're a transphobic uneducated bigot" territory at which point I expect to be blocked.

DeleteOrDecay · 05/01/2018 14:29

But I'd like to bookmark it for future reference (pressed send too soon).

This is the article. It's horrible.

Thehairthebod · 05/01/2018 14:30

Interestingly Paris has acknowledged the article and said that she might not write something like that now. Possibly.

DeleteOrDecay · 05/01/2018 14:30

Thanks, think I've read it before actually and you are right it's horrid.

GreenPurpleRed · 05/01/2018 14:35

Ffs this is getting ridiculous now. Surely they could have found someone else who actually epitimises the article?

Ereshkigal · 05/01/2018 14:37

Or say the cotton ceiling of MTFs expecting sexual access to lesbians is "a cheeky play on words", perhaps.

Boredofwinternow · 05/01/2018 15:02

I honestly don’t see the difference between this, and me donning blackface and turning up at an event to celebrate black people getting the vote and centering myself in it.

Ereshkigal · 05/01/2018 15:05

Nor do I.

Thermostatpolice · 05/01/2018 15:07

Me neither Boredofwinternow.

Boredofwinternow · 05/01/2018 15:07

Then imagine I'd written articles about how being called a nigger is empowering, about how much I loved being the object of racism as a trans black person. Imagine other powerful white people holding me up as a beacon of black rights, saying how brave I am, and telling black people that they're hateful bigots for questioning this.

THAT is the position women are in now. There is no difference.

Ereshkigal · 05/01/2018 15:10

YY. Exactly.

Thermostatpolice · 05/01/2018 15:12

silkpyjamasallday Just catching up on the first page. Great comment. I completely agree.

guardianfree · 05/01/2018 15:16

Today Vogue, tomorrow Woman of the year, an Olympic medal, posts of woman's office in a political party, place on a training programme for women leaders.. oh wait.........

Thermostatpolice · 05/01/2018 15:16

THAT is the position women are in now. There is no difference.

YY. There really is no difference whatsoever. I just don't understand how we got to this place. How on earth did we reach a situation where offensive mental gymnastics are acceptable?

Boredofwinternow · 05/01/2018 15:31

I don't know Thermostat. The very pessimistic part of me says that this is society's way of showing how little they value women. Which makes the fact that so many women are promoting this so hard to understand.
