So many important issues just seem to be falling by the wayside. When did we last have any sort of discussion about reproductive rights in US? The Million Woman March-remember that? Weinstein and the follow up? FGM? The abortion debate in Ireland?

I do think Boyslikepinkgirlslikeblue is on to something. How do we enable networks of consciousness raising? Because, for all the talk of intersectionality in social justice circles, there's precious little attention paid to class.

What about meetings in libraries?

“I don't agree with the comments on the Men's day thread that women do not need to concern themselves about male on male violence.“

If I said that, I didn’t mean it the way it sounds!

You didn't. It wasn't your comments I was referring to.

New Year's resolution is to meet more feminists and engage in more feminism. I already follow all the obvious feminists on Facebook & Twitter. Want to be part of a constructive group rather than online arguments. (Possibly with the long-term aim of setting up a political party, if that's not too ambitious, which it probably is, haha!) Looking for others on here who are both feminist and leftwing and green ? Anyone ? I'm in York though....

Libraries would be good. I don't have the first clue how I would get women in my (council estate) area to be interested though.

The way to get women interested and involved is to get them involved with an issue that affects them, or run classes to benefit them; not to try to change their culture or politics.
Don't expect women to turn their backs on their entire religion or culture and their community, to embrace feminism. Change happens slowly if at all.
In the meantime make it as easy as possible for as many women as possible to engage with public life.

What sort of thing are you thinking about?
