Not sure if this is a daft question, but could I take my almost 14 year old son with me?

Traffig · 18/12/2017 19:19

Ask the organisers @Ihavepatrick

ILikeyourHairyHands · 18/12/2017 19:40

TBF I couldn't give a shit about people knowing my identity, It's not an issue I'm quiet about in RL but as the mother of a child with SN and no current career or standing to jeopardise I can see that I potentially don't have as much to lose as others.

TRAs and MRAs don't frighten me. I won't be cowed by those fucking bullies. I've been standing up to dickhead men for years.

Cooroo · 18/12/2017 20:01

I'm another who'd love to go but tricky to get over to Manc on a work night. Would def go to one in Leeds.

thecraftyfox · 18/12/2017 21:34

I'm going. I work in the city centre and live a train ride away. The location is central but that is all I know.

ILikeyourHairyHands · 18/12/2017 22:07

Can I also say, I have seen Beatrix Campbell speak before and I see the other two speakers are aligned in some way with trade unions and socialist politics, I'm very keen that this is a single issue movement and not aligned in any way with left or right wing politics.

I do think that's important. It has to be a cross-party consensus and not a movement rooted in party politics. Because that way we lose.

chaoticgood · 18/12/2017 22:44

Sorry for the delay, I'm visiting family at the moment. I have set up the pad and am just about to PM the link to Haidees and B0033. If anyone else wants it PM me or one of them.

B0033 I don't think we can vet people. I, for one, have no online gender critical presence and don't know anyone here. I think the answer is just not to mention any names or details that we wouldn't be comfy with anyone knowing.

DamsonGin · 18/12/2017 23:14

Trying to work out if I go over, can I get home for work the next day.

SporadicSpartacus · 19/12/2017 07:50

Shall be there! I’m looking forward to it.

@Coroo, Leeds is closer to me too - if you’re interested in any sort of action group / collaborating in that general area, I would be up for that :)

Nobrain · 19/12/2017 07:53

Will hopefully be attending

jeaux90 · 19/12/2017 09:05

I'm going! Im in Oxfordshire but I need to be there. Im raging inside about this.

MakeMisogynyAHateCrime · 19/12/2017 10:00

I am in Manchester and very tempted.
I am disabled and do worry about not knowing where the venue will be (I totally get why it is done that way) or it having to change like the event in London. I can’t stand about in the street waiting for details etc.

I’m going to have a think and maybe look to bring my DH (fully supportive of the cause) to help me access.

irretating · 19/12/2017 11:31

Does anyone know how these things get organised. I have the same problem as others, it's just a bit too far away for a work night.

Elendon · 19/12/2017 13:14

Thanks for the message.

If it's central then I will definitely go.

Doobigetta · 19/12/2017 13:45

Thanks for publicising this, OP. I've got a ticket.

SporadicSpartacus · 19/12/2017 16:42

Taking @HairyHands’ point from upthread -

Would also appreciate it being made clear that being GC isn’t a left or right issue. It sometimes can feel a bit like Labour Party internal politics and not a movement that will resonate from all women.

irretating · 19/12/2017 17:28

Women's Place are going to look in to doing a Leeds one.

ApocalypseNowt · 19/12/2017 18:47

I'm in Leeds. Would definitely go if they do!

Kimlek · 19/12/2017 20:52

I’m way down south unfortunately. But will join their FB page. Thanks for posting.

Kimlek · 19/12/2017 20:56

Have shared on FB as loads of mates in Manchester who may be interested.

PlonitbatPlonit · 02/01/2018 20:00

Just bumping this up so that more women hear about it.

mimivanne · 04/01/2018 21:54

Just had an email to say that the meeting is now fully booked, very cheering

moofolk · 04/01/2018 22:48

Just to respond to a few concerns and queries from above.
Yes it's full so if you've booked and decided against it please do cancel. The venue is in the city centre, it's accessible, but will not be publicly announced until the day. The venue have confirmed that they will not cancel due to outside pressure but I personally feel that there won't be 'trouble' as was seen in London.
There will be a post match analysis / defrag / social arranged most likely in a pub back room. If you have any accessibility needs and would like to come to this then please get in touch with the organisers (meeting venue accessible).
And also yay! It's soon!

Ereshkigal · 04/01/2018 22:49

Brilliant that it's fully booked!
