This is what it has come to. A women thrown out of a women's network party because of a man, or more accurately, a boy's feelings might be hurt. What the fuck is going on?

ZigZagandDustin - you are clearly assuming that she is lying - why is that? Were you there?

BeyondAssignation · 12/12/2017 18:47

I think I saw that Lily has said that it wasn't them who complained. They may have also said that they were not approached by V last night, but it was earlier today that I read it so I can't remember.

Im wondering, was Adrie also there? He appears a lot more combatative than Lily (who just seems quite fragile tbh), so I'm wondering whether it was him who complained...?

coffeeclub · 12/12/2017 18:48

As women's officer Lily should have sorted this out.

AssignedPuuurfectAtBirth · 12/12/2017 19:05

Beyond

It was a Women's event, so Adrie would not be there.

Lily was there. And Venice was turfed out because Lily was there, regardless of whether he instigated her removal or not. Lily's presence was the reason for her removal

Assuming that’s a wedding photo on her Twitter, surely as a lesbian Olivia should be even more aware of why women’s spaces are important?!

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 12/12/2017 19:13

I did see this on twitter...

Why be nervous? Why do the job if you are not happy to be on public? This is getting very silly.

BeyondAssignation · 12/12/2017 19:17

I thought adrie was as female as Lily? Am I getting two people mixed up?

AssassinatedBeauty · 12/12/2017 19:20

Is taking a photo with someone in the background literal violence now?

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 12/12/2017 19:36

Only if it's a woman that commits this act of heinous photography. I can't imagine we'd get very far with trying to get a man thrown out of a party (whether trans or not) for doing it to us.

Glowerglass · 12/12/2017 19:41

BLOODY HELL. REALLY?

OlennasWimple · 12/12/2017 19:45

TheCountess - given that men can take photos up the skirts of women and girls and there is apparently nothing that anyone can do about it, I doubt a man would get thrown out of a party for a selfie with someone else in the background

Ereshkigal · 12/12/2017 19:53

Well they did say about Speakers Corner that Maria McLachlan taking photos was a justification for the violence which followed.

Fekko · 12/12/2017 19:53

Stealing their soul?

AssassinatedBeauty · 12/12/2017 19:55

Maybe Venice Allan should be grateful not to have been assaulted and physically bundled out of the event, given the Speakers Corner incident.

SpartonDregs · 12/12/2017 20:18

That doesn't look like a selfie. That looks like a photo taken by someone else trying to get RadFem in shot.

UnderTheDesk · 12/12/2017 20:18

This is bullshit.
Women: we feel unsafe having men in women's spaces.
TW and allies: Bigot! TERF! Die in a fire!
TW: I feel unsafe having this gender-critical woman in a woman's space.
Allies: Don't worry, my love, we'll make the nasty woman go away.

QuentinSummers · 12/12/2017 20:23

That may be the worst selfie I've ever seen. Venice appears to not even be paying attention to the camera Hmm

AndhowcouldIeverrefuse · 12/12/2017 20:30
Shock
53rdWay · 12/12/2017 20:33

I am confused. Where is that selfie/not-selfie photo from in the first place? Is that what Venice Allan allegedly did that made Lily or someone else feel ‘unsafe’, take a photo with someone she disagreed with in the background? Really?

Hope both Venice and Olivia post some more information about wtf happened.

OlennasWimple · 12/12/2017 20:43

TBH, the whole event looks a bit shit with very few people there Hmm

Fekko · 12/12/2017 20:44

Maybe that's the issue. A bIt of a trump revision 'the biggest turnout ever !!'

frogsoup · 12/12/2017 20:51

That clearly isn't a selfie, she looks like she's about to remonstrate with whoever is shoving the camera in her face.

SparklyUnicornTractors · 12/12/2017 20:53

While I won't jump to any conclusions until further information emerges, and while it could certainly be intimidating to have someone taking photos of you that you suspect may be used negatively, two things occur....

  1. when you choose to be a public figure, getting photographed and talked about comes with the job - and if you've spent your first few weeks flinging some pretty major grenades around you have to accept that some of that attention is going to be critical

  2. the level of intimidation from being included in a selfie in a public place is what on the scale of intimidation and unsafeness compared to self identification and any sex offender being able to follow you into a bathroom/changing room? 'Cos I thought it was hysterical and silly to worry about that or claim to feel unsafe?

Nuffaluff · 12/12/2017 20:55

But hasn't she put that photo on twitter alongside a message she's written which suggests it is a selfie? Or has the person replying got that photo from somewhere else?
(Don't use twitter so don't know how it works).
