It is a bit off topic for sure, but if you look back through the thread I'm genuinely responding to posters questioning my views.

I actually don't think many of the posters on here are the type of feminist I've got an issue with tbh, but I've met a lot of middle class women (especially when I worked at a large solicitors) who liked to play the oppression card when they're comparatively privileged. Although it is likely chicken and egg since a lot of feminists by nature want to succeed in business and eschew traditional roles, so it's unsurprising many end up in privileged/powerful positions.

I suppose it's fair to say that it's the implementation rather than the concept which I have an issue with.

I've already acknowledged that the dog part was a bit unfounded and that the main thrust of my point is that she is an individual who has done a lot for women but has been victimised because she doesn't fit the modern feminist agenda, like many feminists of yesterday. If we imagine a world were Ruth was genuine for a moment... I have thought all the same things. As a mother of sons I have questioned my beliefs that women as a class are oppressed by men as a class. Especially when my oldest turned 15 and suddenly entered the most dangerous demographic to be in (a 15-34 year old male iirc). Then I realised that it was patriarchy that was putting him there, just like those child soldiers. Of course I like a good dose of Marxism along with my Feminism but I'll leave that for now.
