I can't read the leaflet. What does it say? Can someone give an overview please.
Waves back to Plectrum and to 53rd
A large part of the discussion focussed on young females transitioning. The speaker was a specialist in self harm, particularly in young females and saw this phenomenon as an extension of the other types of self harm that young women, and especially working class young women were more disposed to.
It was only really at the discussion at the end, when the remaining trans identified male spoke, that the focus was on MTT. He asked a rather provocative question about whey we considered transwomen rapists. There had been no such language used. The chairwoman did handle the situation really well, as he could have taken over the meeting, and certainly intended to. I spoke to her in the bar afterwards and she said that she had seen too many of these meetings going south because women were trying to justify their position to loud aggressive TIMs and that there was no way she was going to allow that to happen. She held the floor and the room really well.
One of the group lives round the corner from me, with kids at the same schools! We are going to meet up and poss go to see our MP.
The discussion at the very end about the Scottish consultation was interested. Heather BL thought the language was straight out of the TRA handbook and really we should tackle the language before we could answer the questions, because it was loaded to make any opposition look like bigotry. I am assuming a Trans group contributed to the writing of the consultation; anyone know about this?
I met so many people, some from MN and some from other groups I am in. Apologies if I am forgetting MNer names, so many names and groups.
I missed quite a few of you which is a shame. Hopefully next time.
