I have met a number of MNers in RL and they have all been lovely. I know if I go on doing this I will meet a total arse eventually but so far so good.

I've booked my ticket too. Can't absolutely guarantee attendance but I'll do my damnedest.

Really hoping to go to this too. I might be too far away for travel in early Jan but if not then I’m determined to get there. Torn between being scared about the threats and violence and thinking “like buggery am I being scared off feminist events by bullies, how dare you!”, but it is worrying

Maybe we should set up a private FB event or WhatsApp group to discuss meeting arrangements. I wouldn’t think the venue will be announced until the very last minute. I imagine any discussion on an open website like this will be being monitored by those who want to stifle discussion and disrupt any meeting.

Agree Agent but wouldn’t both FB & WhatsApp give away our real names?

(I don’t care that much if most people coming along know who I am, I mean, but worried about the kind of protestors who’d be keeping an eye out on this getting access to real names/numbers etc.)

I’d be more worried about linking my MN profile to my real name TBH.

Can’t we just use the PM system here to arrange a meet up time and place ? I don’t think anyone would be daft enough to post that online.

I also wouldn’t be mad keen on linking my MN name - what if one of you is my SIL? Happy to do it through PM here. Just thought it might be easier to send and receive message as a group.

I know, groups are much easier than a dozen PMs.

I’m guessing that the venue will be pretty central, so we could just arrange to meet up in a bar / cafe / book a table in a restaurant. Then if anyone turns out to be a hairy handed trucker, there will be plenty people around.

And people can go by the MN name or RL name, whatever they prefer.

I understand that it’s not like a normal meetup and people will understandably be nervous about trouble makers or being doxed.
