Two more women attacked by trans activists

At least two more feminists have been attacked by trans chauvinists today, set upon while they were handing out leaflets at the Anarchist Book Fair. One is Green Party candidate Olivia Palmer and the other a trade union rep Helen Steel

OP posts:

Secret that's bloody awesome, that is.

Blanchefleur · 02/11/2017 14:35

Oh Cis, that's awful! How could any sane person object to someone telling a child not to rush into something that will have lifelong repercussions?

I think it would better to try not to cover too many of the implications of the trans agenda in your meeting at the moment, and just focus on this child and the school.

Perhaps you could refer the Head to Robert Winston's recent warnings about the long-term effects of medical intervention, and suggest that this needs to be taken into consideration as part of the school's duty of care to the child?

Point out too that once the lawsuits start coming in, as they are surely bound to, the school could be implicated if it has encouraged children to think that there is something wrong with their healthy bodies.

Good luck!

Because that would be conversion therapy.

Battleax · 02/11/2017 15:17

...

annandale · 02/11/2017 15:41

CMA honestly I would make sure you have a union rep at that meeting and get some ACAS advice beforehand. Have you also written down a complete truthful record of what happened and who said what?

SepiaTintedRose · 02/11/2017 15:49

Cis
I just want to say you are doing brilliantly. It feels like something horrible and insidious because it is.

(Also great username!)

annandale · 02/11/2017 16:06

That SAGES flyer is about a thousand percent better than the leaflet, I have to say.

HouseholdWords · 02/11/2017 17:34

CisMyArse that is AWFUL.

Can you make a record of the conversation you had with the pupil, prefaced by a brief overview of your 5 years of mentoring the pupil? That should count for something - a lot, indeed.

And get a union person in with you.

And the SAGES stuff, plus medical evidence such as Robert Winston et al.

Mumsnut · 02/11/2017 18:10

There's a reddit thread on another thread which is more than eye-opening about the horrors of transitioning, and then realising it was all for nothing / child wasn't trans at all. Will try to find it.

Anlaf · 02/11/2017 18:42

Helen Steel has made a (public) statement on her facebook page -really worth a read.

ArcheryAnnie · 02/11/2017 19:11

Helen really is quite something, isn't she? Much respect to her.

I've been coming out as very strongly gender-crit in some of my organisational circles (mainly to head off gender identity bollocks policies at the pass, before they get traction), and I've found it quite difficult, but I've been avoiding doing so in some others, just because it exhausts me even thinking about having people I've known for decades give me shit about it. Some of these circles overlap with Helen's, and as cowardly as this makes me sound, it has given me a bit of courage to come out as gender crit there, too.

SerfNTerf · 02/11/2017 20:44

Helen Steel is fucking amazing. I grew into a woman with one eye on her activism - as a teenager I followed the McLibel case, genuinely in awe of a woman who would stand up to a huge corporation like she did.

As an adult I have been immensely grateful for her work on the SpyCops campaign and the associated blacklist scandal - this was something that directly affected me as I was on the blacklist and suspect I may have been targeted by undercover police when younger.

And now this. She's speaking out again despite the vitriol it brings her. I'm amazed and grateful to her and to all the women who, like her, refuse to be silenced by anyone.

BlackForestCake · 02/11/2017 20:55

Germaine Greer, Linda Bellos, Claire Heuchan, Jack Monroe, Helen Steel … the TRA hate-list is getting to be quite a Who’s Who of radical women worth reading.

QOFE · 02/11/2017 21:38

I thought Jack Monroe was trans? There was more than one thread on here about it wasn't there?

(I realise this doesn't mean you can't be the worst kind of cunt according to TRAs but I hadn't realised Jack Monroe had fallen from grace)

hipsterfun · 02/11/2017 21:41

Well said, Serf.

ArcheryAnnie · 02/11/2017 23:07

QOFE Jack is female as well as being trans-identified. If you are female, even being trans will not protect you from attack by trans activists, being called "TERF", "cunt", "die in a fire", etc.

BlackForestCake · 02/11/2017 23:31

As far as I understand it Jack now regards herself as a woman, apologies if I am mistaken. But tweeted condemning the thug attack at Speakers Corner.

Ereshkigal · 02/11/2017 23:59

Also IIRC they wanked on about her putting a comma in the wrong place in a tweet and referring to herself as a "trans woman" as a female.

volume37number5 · 03/11/2017 00:36

Cis - not sure what has happened, but sounds awful. One sniff of this type of propoganda in my children's school and I'll be in the headmaster's office pronto.

I've been spreading my concerns re the trans agenda within my community with anyone who will listen. Whilst many just nod politely, I've found a few women for whom the penny has dropped. They are now as appalled & I am. I feel confident that they would back me if I needed to approach the school, & some are independently writing to MPs. One is a well-known journalist & is hoping to write more in the coming months regarding the pertinent issues.

I think having allies is so important, as others have said. Get some advice from Stephanie Davis. Refer the head to Robert Winston's interview, and suggested at the least s/he should do his/her own research before deciding how to proceed regarding such fundamental issues. S/he has a duty of care to these young people. You're doing a fantastic job (though so bloody hard) 💐 . . .

The man responsible for the violence at speakers corner, and subsequent violence at the anarchist book fair has finally been arrested.

SaskiaRembrandtWasFramed · 05/11/2017 13:34

The first comment on that Twitter thread made me laugh - 'Arrested for literal violence?'

Mumsnut · 05/11/2017 14:53

Released without charge?!

Datun · 05/11/2017 14:58

Released, pending further investigation.
