At least two more feminists have been attacked by trans chauvinists today, set upon while they were handing out leaflets at the Anarchist Book Fair. One is Green Party candidate Olivia Palmer and the other a trade union rep Helen Steel

It’s perfect really. They have to shut down debate because debate exposes the flaws in the ideology. So when perfectly reasonable people call for debate, even in the most minimum of terms, they simply can’t do it.

I’ve been reading a thread on Gendertrender which is very interesting. Women, regular women, are identifying as trans. On the basis that although they are born women, they now identify as transwomen. Because gender identification has absolutely zero to do with biology, right? It’s just how you feel. Unquestionable and undeniable.

The horror from transactivists is palpable. According to their own ideology, you can’t tell women that they are not allowed to identify as transwomen on the basis that they are born women, because biology has nothing to do with it.

They are saying, or rather they want to say, you can’t do that because biology matters. Except, according to them it doesn’t.

They are saying women cannot appropriate trans-womenhood. But if transwomen are women (on the basis of a feeling) then women can be transwomen, on exactly the same basis, right? "

Yes it turns out that AFAB actually does mean something to them after all and calling yourself an AFAB transwomen is appropriating trans culture. Or something.

It must have come about from this determination to include non-binary people as transgender, right?

So if I’m assigned female at birth, but I am non-binary (as tons of non-binary people are), that makes me trans. But trans what?

Seriously? How does the next bit work? Because, I’m still a little confused. They identify as trans-women. Where does the woman bit come in? ( still trying to use logic).

Please can someone link the gender trender thread? Sounds a very good way to throw a spanner in the works.

Either biology matters or it doesn't.

Either self identification is valid or it isn't.

Either appropriation is wrong or it isn't.

That reduced is down to the bare truth of all this which is 'but this is about hierarchy where men identifying as women outrank biological women and have the power to lay down the rules for people with real vaginas'.

It's such a great piece of writing by Gallus Mag, both funny and angry. She really lays out the bald-faced, extreme misogyny of gender identity doctrine. What's absolutely crazy is that most mainstream feminists and women's orgs are now in agreement with this insanity as well:

But only women born with dick and balls form a cohesive class of women whose shared biology and cultural experience must be named and respected.

The mob chants from the bookfair yesterday were "Fuck TERFs", "Fascist" and "Out". The "Fuck TERFs" chant was accompanied by the trans women making the finger in what I took to be a rape threat. I did not see the same gesture made by female or male supporters. The "fascist" accusation was made repeatedly, especially by one trans woman.

From what I saw the violence came exclusively from the trans women and not their female supporters, and certainly not from Helen.

The attitude of the mob, and their supporters here, is that Helen be excluded from the bookfair because she holds a different opinion from them, an opinion which they accept as Feminist (hence terF).
