I'm choking on my porridge. This Trans Health manifesto is...just...gosh.

I've only skim read it but they don't seem to have included Female Genital Mutilation on their list of bad things done to bodies. Interesting!

Yes, I was told things would be better after having a baby - that was a lie too!

Heat is what works for me, heat pads when I'm out of the house, cherry stone microwave bags when at home - you can put lavender oil on it which makes them smell nicer and more relaxing, can be great at night time. Flowers for your DD

LaContessaDiPlump · 21/09/2017 17:53

Just out of interest, is there a ban on cis males discussing their genitalia?

Ereshkigal · 21/09/2017 17:55

I've never once seen it censured or silenced in the same way. The penis bearers are free to discuss prostate cancer as a male issue.

LaContessaDiPlump · 21/09/2017 17:55

Oh what a ginormous shock that is.

CigarsofthePharoahs · 21/09/2017 17:56

Assigned My mum said that to me and I was 14 at the time. I'm currently taking the combi pill with no breaks so no periods! I've been told off about it as it's not recommended, but my periods left me anaemic.

As for that manifesto -
I got rather confused as one hand they were demanding drugs and surgery that will sterilise the recipient, and then condemning sterilisation practices…
Anyway, you can't reverse a hysterectomy or the removal of any body part.
It's so daft it has to be a spoof. I hope it's a spoof.

Ereshkigal · 21/09/2017 18:01

Basically on every female oriented group on fb etc if you make any kind of comment about periods, pregnancy etc, even if you don't say it's about women, some fucker will pop up within about 3 posts to give you a "friendly reminder" tell you to use "inclusive" language like "menstruator" or "people with uteruses"

Lancelottie · 21/09/2017 18:07

Nah, in common with half the school, DD's probably nonbinary/pangender/neutrois/androgynous, so we're fine.

I'm adding Naproxen to my list of things we haven't tried yet, thanks.

I had quite well-behaved periods as a teen, in retrospect. They tended to bugger off for months and come back in three-week-long gorefests (usually coinciding with exams), but they weren't this level of agony.

Cocolepew · 21/09/2017 18:22

You can get Feminax Ultra which is Naproxen OTC. Also try Buscopan which is for IBS cramps.
Magnesium works really well for painful periods.

cafeaulaitpourvous · 21/09/2017 18:51

Fucking periods - I am coming back as a cat...a male cat....

Lancelottie · 21/09/2017 19:05

Googling all of these, thanks! (It doesn't help that DD is prone to constipation a problem since she was tiny and a lot of painkillers slow things down.)

badbadhusky · 21/09/2017 19:07

Fucking periods - I am coming back as a cat...a male cat....

Get ready to have your nadgers chopped off and, no, despite that manifesto there is no putting them back.

It's the interesting conflation of what are human rights and what are generally referred to as economic or second order rights. Conventionally human rights are things like right to free speech, freedom from bodily harm, etc. Things that no-one has to provide anything for- by having a right to free association all I am insisting on is that people are not going to interfere with my activity (and I am likewise constrained from interfering with others).

Second order rights are often called economic rights- things like health care and education. When people insist that things like health care and education are human rights (in the sense of first order rights) then they are things that people must supply. If I have a right to healthcare in the same way that I have a right to freedom of association then someone, somewhere, must be obliged to provide me with that service. The NHS was never conceived of in that sense however it has grown and as a state service the state is obliged to fulfil its duties to its citizens (I.e.: their rights).

Most of the things that the trans manifesto is demanding are second order rights- very little in there is demanding freedom from anything as such, it's almost entirely freedom to have something.

Thus- if we didn't already have the NHS they wouldn't feel entitled to demand access to a series of extremely expensive medical services which someone will be obligated to provide once people start taking this manifesto seriously (which people seem to do on trans issues for some reason? No matter how incoherent...)

SentimentalLentil · 21/09/2017 20:28

I think about this a lot.

That the trans activists are putting their freedom too above our freedom from.

PencilsInSpace · 21/09/2017 20:38

Gosh this is a whole new level of TERRIFYING INSANITY isn't it?

ATH gave two lots of written evidence to the trans equality enquiry and were invited as witnesses to give oral evidence. They are heavily referenced in the Transgender Equality Report in the section on NHS services.

In their first written statement they say:

1.1 Action for Trans Health is a UK network of trans activists and organisations campaigning for trans healthcare rights. Our network of individual members and affiliate groups makes us the largest UK campaign for trans healthcare.

Yet when giving oral evidence we get, My name is Jess Bradley. I am a qualified health impact assessor and I am on the executive committee of an organisation called Action for Trans Health, which is the largest UK‑based democratic campaign for trans healthcare.

I suppose those statements are not strictly contradictory but it's incredibly slippery language. They don't strike me as an org that goes in for 'leadership' much.

I think we should have Maria Miller on for a webchat. I think lots of us have questions we'd like her to answer.

PencilsInSpace · 21/09/2017 20:51

I hope they do submit that to every consultation on trans issues because it will be filed straight in the round folder. That's a better result than being heavily referenced by Maria Miller.

They're terrorists, or at least their org has been infiltrated by terrorists.

I don't use that word lightly. They are using violence and threats of violence to terrify people into silence. I have no doubt they have connections with antifa and pastel bloc. They need attention from Prevent, as do several other trans orgs and uni LGBTQIAAAWTF+*@~# socs. Actually, especially uni SU socs if we want to prevent radicalisation of young people.

This might be of interest to you...

Not all the treatments will be suitable (Aspirin should not be used in under 20s and drugs like Naproxen and Ibuprofen may be contra-indicated if she has asthma) but hopefully will give you some things to discuss with your GP. I second the heat advice and would say take painkillers regularly on the bad days, don't wait for it to be bad. My school had a similar (stupid) rule about pain relief- I just used to keep it in my pocket and take it outside of class time.

Lancelottie · 21/09/2017 22:59

That's really helpful, thanks!

Natsku · 22/09/2017 06:48

Heat definitely helped me too. And, its probably psychosomatic but, I swear my period pains got easier when I started using a menstrual cup.

And def let her take painkillers to school but just keep them hidden from the teachers - its a blanket rule they are supposed to enforce but it doesn't work for girls with period pains who obviously aren't going to get a prescription every month because that would be a waste of GP's time and their time.

cafeaulaitpourvous · 22/09/2017 07:38

If full ‘period experience’ (clots, pain nausea etc etc etc) was available I wonder if trans women would be clambering to experience it .....Hmm

busyboysmum · 22/09/2017 07:49

Jess Bradley is both @nusuk Trans Officer and trustee & organiser of Action for Trans Health who celebrate & call for violence against women. t.co/YFn3StRlNP

I am lost for words

Blanchefleur · 22/09/2017 08:51

Shock at reading that, The WeeWitch !

So, not only has woman been redefined, but so has periods. 'If we take a period to mean a cyclical timeframe of specific symptoms...'

Who needs to have blood coming out of their vagina? If you've got a headache, you're 'on'!

Datun · 22/09/2017 08:55

I've just been explaining AGP to someone on another thread. Fetishising menstruation is part of it.

There are loads of YouTube videos on how to use coloured water, or cranbury juice on pad, to fake a period. There are menstruation 'kits' that you can buy online.

There are videos of transwomen buying tampax and putting them, God knows where, in order to feel the experience.

And bouncing up and down on their bed flicking their hair and complaining about cramps and the need for chocolate.

And the government is about to pass a bill that will enable these fetishistic men to have access to women's intimate spaces.

Meanwhile Lancelottie's daughter is in agony. The GP couldn't give a fuck and the school won't help her to manage her symptoms.

Never has the word patriarchy been so appropriate.

Elanetical · 22/09/2017 08:58

TheWeeWitch that link is genuinely sad. It really does highlight that people with gender dysphoria need psychological support and help to understand that no matter how badly they want something, sometimes it just isn't possible.

No one would give someone with anorexia diet pills. I really don't understand why it's ok to give people with gender dysphoria hormones and surgery. It seems cruel to me, to assist someone in perpetuating their own delusions when physical reality will just always be there. A transwoman will always be biologically male, no hormones can change that Sad
