@busyboysmum that’s exactly the same bullshite letter I received from “George”!

busyboysmum · 21/09/2017 11:52

I thought it might be. I emailed him back straight away with this:

"Thanks George
So what's the gender audit on the Gender Recognition Bill in so far as it affects biologically born women then please? My take is that it will be so easy for men to claim they feel like they are a woman and then invade women's spaces. I do think that women will be treated far worse than they are today. Just in general.

If you can't talk about the disadvantage that your sex affords you, that disadvantage becomes accepted.

Trans-women may compete against each other in sport as 'women', and actual women won't be able to compete, or if they do are guaranteed a bottom of the table place. In many sports women don't get the recognition they deserve already, and so it will become an even more male dominated arena than it is now.

There will be regular stories in the press about 'women' attacking other women. Rape and sexual assault will be recorded as being committed by far more females than ever before. And although a lot of people will know that they are men, if it is never reported as such, there will just be an assumption that female crime is on the up, particularly sexually violent crime.

We know that already in prisons there is a disproportionate amount of rapists claiming to be women so they can be considered to be moved to women's prisons where they will have access to the very people their crimes are against.

And pointing these things out will be deleted in below the line comments, online, everywhere, because it will be considered a hate crime.

If enough people are legally recorded as women, who are actually men, health statistics will change. The incidences of female health problems will go down and the funding will be cut.

In fact, statistics generally will be skewed. To women's disadvantage.

Giving men the legal status of women, based on gender identity, means that sex based protections no longer exist.

You will not be able to sue for sex discrimination on the basis of the fact that you are a woman.

Say your company has a diversity quota. Six men and six women on the board. That could be six men and six transwomen. And their diversity quota will be filled.
All the above is happening now but with this new legislation no surgery will be needed, no diagnosis by a doctor, no hormones need be taken. 95% of trans women are in fact fully intact men.

Please respond. I need to know how the party I voted for last election is handling this very important issue. I don't want to be fobbed off with platitudes."

A lot of it copied and pasted from much more eloquent posters on here as you might recognise.

Thank you Datun
I have appointment to have tea with my MP - Asian woman - within next couple of months and will share my fears with her face to face

NYConcreteJungle · 21/09/2017 12:43

I don't think you will get anywhere with a hard left Labour leadership. I can't find the information, I recall that labour want to make a new rule to be voted on at conference, that if anyone gets offended at anything another says they will be kicked out of the party, even if offence wasn't the intention.

Albadross · 21/09/2017 14:15

Just saw this and it made me think, and in no way am I likening any person to a pig, simply made me laugh in a guilty sort of way ShockBlush

Ok the joke seems much more offensive than intended (actually wasn't intended to be offensive) and my point got lost so I've reported my post and apologies if anyone interpreted that to mean I'm calling trans people animals or pigs in lipstick - I'm not - I just thought it underlined that changing things on the surface doesn't change the underneath. Maybe just a little too close to the bone and my ASD clouded my ability to see how it would look Blush

misscockerspaniel · 21/09/2017 15:11

Jeremy Corbyn apparently floated the idea of women-only train carriages during his 2015 leadership campaign, although this suggestion, when made recently by Labour MP Chris Williamson, was derided (and rightly so, IMO). So maybe safe-guarding women-only spaces isn't a lost cause with the Labour leader.

HornyTortoise · 21/09/2017 15:16

Female only train carriages, or 'women' only? I expect he meant self identified 'women'. Ugh its infuriating. There doesn't seem to be any party that will actually speak up for female people..not even the fucking Women's Equality Party, which is terrifying tbh...

BetsyM00 · 21/09/2017 16:00

I get what you're saying Albatross. Reminded me of another useless fact I learned today that pigs are private animals and will allocate a private area in their barn as their 'bathroom', so no other pigs can see them pee!

TheWeeWitch · 21/09/2017 16:06

Have just received a package containing my copy of Female Erasure. This is from the foreword, by Germaine Greer -

“Femininity is a de-sexed masquerade”.

Datun · 21/09/2017 16:25

How can anyone, especially a political leader, identify a need for women only carriages, on the one hand. And on the other, support a law that says any man can use them!!

NYConcreteJungle · 21/09/2017 16:28

One that doesn't think very deeply.

It may be worthwhile issuing Mr Corbyn with a personal invitation to the meeting in Brighton.

BeyondNoone · 21/09/2017 17:19

I wonder if there would be any point inviting Maria Miller and Jess Phillips? As along with the “purported feminists” quote from MM, there was also this (from an Independent article);

To have your gender changed legally, transgender people also have to provide evidence of “living in your new gender”. “What does that mean in 21st-century Britain? That you wear a skirt?”

So MM can see that outward trappings of gender mean nothing and dysphoria (as she wants the essential diagnosis removed) means nothing, yet sex also means nothing too. So what is a women then, Maria? It seems she is so close to getting it, yet she just isn’t?!

nauticant · 21/09/2017 17:34

“What does that mean in 21st-century Britain? That you wear a skirt?”

Logically (stop laughing at the back) with the dozens of genders and the many freedoms they bring, it would be transphobic to insist on a particular style of garb to qualify.

I suspect, if it comes down to it, that qualification will extend to a person having had a firm idea in their mind for the necessary period. Chances are, all they'll need to say is that they've been "consistent, insistent, and persistent" to themselves for a couple of years.

SentimentalLentil · 21/09/2017 17:43

I seem to remember when a family friend transitioned about 10 years ago he had to wear a skirt for two years and I remember thinking it was stupid at the time.

PricklyBall · 21/09/2017 19:04

I had a similar experience, sentimental - a friend told me she'd had to go down the "twinset and pearls" route for a couple of years to convince the psychiatrists - when I knew her she'd settled into a much more comfortable setup of jeans and blouses/kaftans (it was that sort of time and that sort of student environment). I also noticed it with a workmate who transitioned - again, during the transitioning process, she obviously had to conform to what her psychiatrists thought a middle aged woman should look like - she now dresses a lot more to suit herself and looks a lot more comfortable (again, trousers a lot of the time).

FactsAreNotMean · 21/09/2017 19:54

The problem as that once you start looking at the required "qualifications " - as you've described friends experiencing - then it becomes even more obviously gender stereotyped.

nauticant · 21/09/2017 20:57

Which is why it would be logical for there to be no qualifications. That is, nothing beyond having a pink or a blue brain.

The problem though is that if it becomes clear that no qualifications are required, the meaningless of the state being transitioned into becomes apparent. Tricky.

theaveragewife · 21/09/2017 21:37

I'm looking at TAs on twitter, just to get a general view on 'the other side' and have noticed a lot are actually social studies academics & tutors. Which may explain why so many young people are allies right now, and this tallies up with my experience.

I've also noticed a lot of pressure on women in general, it's like acknowledgement and validity from women matters so much - and violence and anger have come from not accepting that they can erase and replace us. Why do they not want acknowledgement from men?Perhaps the arrogance of man in general has led to wanting what they can't physically have.

FactsAreNotMean · 21/09/2017 21:59

That's the problem nauticant - you really are transitioning to a stereotyped gender role.

Somehow got caught up in a stats argument. Like banging my head against a brick wall!

Rumandraisin1 · 21/09/2017 22:31

Video promoting the forthcoming Brighton discussion on gender:

YetAnotherSpartacus · 21/09/2017 22:37

Which raises another point. Are the transwomen who want to sleep with women and those who want to sleep with men equal in terms of driving the most harmful parts of the trans ideology

Many of the more loopy and violent TRAs who are anarchists or members of other fringe left groups and who tend towards being called 'queer' as well as trans are not AGP. They are stereotypical violent men. Many are gay.

FactsAreNotMean · 21/09/2017 22:38

How, when we've got more information at our fingertips than any generation before us, are so many people so utterly ignorant of maths and science AND so utterly unwilling to learn?! It's infuriating
