I'm just going to sleep, if someone else can add the news links for me please? Thanks :)

Under the Tories, progress is being rolled back for women, disabled people, LGBT people and BAME communities.

It is the Tories proposing self ID, and it was also the Tories who (finally) pushed through same sex marriage was it not? I do not understand how so many people seem to completely miss that transideology in itself is inherently homophobic. They either miss it, or see it and don't care.

Labour is the party of equality. We believe that no-one should be left behind.

Are female people included in this? As its females who will be left behind in all of this rubbish.

Bump!

This is the second of two threads which were originally in chat so destined to disappear after 3 months. I asked for both to be moved to FWR and they were, but the first one seems to have disappeared anyway, which is a shame.

I just want to raise a glass to Venice who started something huge, to Maria who is nails and to all the other brilliant women who have made such a difference and continue to fight for women's rights and safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults.

Turns out THERE IS A FUCKING DEBATE after all.

Wine indeed

NotTerfNorCis · 13/09/2018 21:13

Yep that attack was a turning point. We can also thank Tara Wood for boosting gender critical feminism.

PencilsInSpace · 13/09/2018 21:45

I want to raise a glass to the young woman who was aggressively shoved and intimidated by the TRA who was supposed to be on the same side as her.

Wherever she is today, I hope she is happy and safe and pursuing her goals. I don't care if she would still disagree with me on everything. She was up for dialogue and she went above and beyond in trying to calm down a horrible situation, only to be met with more male aggression.

Flowers and [beer] for that young woman.

BlackeyedSusan · 13/09/2018 22:00

nice one pencils...

GenderApostate · 13/09/2018 22:01

Very well put, Pencils 👍

Agreed Pencils. I'm glad you said this. That young lady has been on my mind quite a lot; more so lately because it's a year since it happened.

I Hope you're ok - wherever and whoever you are. We may have huge fundamental differences of opinion on this but no woman gained any satisfaction from seeing the footage of your 'friend' turning on you like that. You didn't deserve that and your friend clearly doesn't deserve you.

Thanks
CertainHalfDesertedStreets · 14/09/2018 23:32

Thanks for bumping pencils.

Do you know what is fucking tragic? It's that if you look back through this thread, even just the last few posts from last year, there are women writing to their MPs, saying 'women are going to be raped and sexually abused if you put men in women's prisons' and lo it fucking came to pass didn't it?

That makes me so fucking Angry It didn't need to happen. We fucking told them. We're telling them now about GG. Who's next to be sacrificed on the altar of fucking woke politicians?

Thank you pencils x Smile

bzzbeebzz · 15/09/2018 06:15

Thanks to all the women who saw what was coming before I did, fought for women’s rights when no one else thought there was anything to fight for, and spoke up when they were lone voices being silenced.

PersistenceIsNotFutile · 15/09/2018 06:40

These women are sheroes, and I include the young woman Pencils pointed out.

Although living through this turbulence is scary, I know we are making a difference, and we are making history. I am proud of us all.

WhatTheWatersShowedMe · 15/09/2018 06:43

Courage calls to courage.

Saw this on Linda Bellos' FB page just now.

Some lawyer! Has she even looked at the background before pontificating?

LangCleg · 15/09/2018 10:06

Turns out THERE IS A FUCKING DEBATE after all.

And three fucking great cheers for that.

Thank you, women of courage.

Datun · 15/09/2018 10:23

Cheers pencils.

It was certainly the beginning of an awakening.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 15/09/2018 10:39

I was just so relieved he was actually found guilty.
Even though there were multiple witnesses and video, even though he had posted beforehand about fucking up terfs, it still didn't seem to me like a foregone conclusion.
