Hate the way women in porn are depicted as victims. It's insulting.

NoLoveofMine · 26/08/2017 12:47

I'm not talking about "the industry". I'm talking about male sexual violence against women and girls. Many men clearly hate women and girls enough to harass and attack us.

It is completely heart breaking to think of what that fourteen year old is going through.

CoinOperatedGurl · 26/08/2017 12:49

The op makes a direct link between porn and his actions.

NoLoveofMine · 26/08/2017 12:49

Very telling that CoinOperatedGurl has said nothing about the women and girls whose lives have been ruined by yet another misogynist man and described it merely as "other stuff". Instead they choose to go on about how popular "rape porn" is and pontificating about "human sexuality".

Coin go watch some of her vids on youtube. She speaks about how she hates feminists for telling her she is a victim etc and how it's her choice

NoLoveofMine · 26/08/2017 12:51

Indeed Sylvia. That's what my focus in this case is, thinking about how awful yet more attacks on women and girls are and the horrific impact it'll have had on the victims' lives. Her victim impact statement is so saddening.

CoinOperatedGurl · 26/08/2017 12:51

I haven't mentioned the women because I haven't come on here to talk about that. The op caught my eye because of the link to porn. That's what I'd prefer to discuss.

Scrumplestiltskin · 26/08/2017 12:52

I've done things which have landed me in hospital.

Not only that, but apparently if a handful of people enjoy participating in an abusive industry, that has a net negative effect on both its workers, and its customers, then there's nothing wrong with it Confused

NoLoveofMine · 26/08/2017 12:52

Because you quite clearly don't care about women and girls who are victims of male sexual violence.

OP posts:
NoLoveofMine · 26/08/2017 12:53

I think anyone who takes a story which involves a 14 year old girl being the victim of rape and starts talking about how great "rape porn" is shows themselves to be abhorrent.

OP posts:
SylviaPoe · 26/08/2017 12:54

And, as I know you know, the impact of all those who love and care about that person, who are distressed for the victim and worry for themselves and their own loved ones.

Because it is so frequent, and every time it happens it has an impact on so many.

Many women and girls never get over these attacks.

PolarBearGoingSomewhere · 26/08/2017 12:55

This is extremely local to me and one of the routes is one I used to walk / run regularly.

The fear it created in the local area still hasn't gone away.

Absolutely chilling.

CoinOperatedGurl · 26/08/2017 12:55

The op made a direct link to porn. Had there not been that mentioned I wouldn't be on this post as I struggle with empathy towards things of this nature. So if that is what you want to talk about then I'll leave you to it.

Scrumplestiltskin · 26/08/2017 12:55

The man who held Elizabeth Smart captive when she was a teenager regularly looked at pornography, which "just led to him raping me more," the now 28-year-old woman says in a new video.
"He would just sit and look at it and stare at it, and he would just talk about these women, and then when he was done, he would turn and look at me, and he would be like, 'Now we're going to do this,'" Smart said of her convicted abductor, Brian David Mitchell.

SylviaPoe

Many do get over it. Not all women are forever broken.

SylviaPoe · 26/08/2017 12:56

There's a link to porn because three of his convictions are for owning or creating illegal material.

Spot the cognitive dissonance

This is not the only thread where this particular poster is displaying that by the bucket load.

SylviaPoe · 26/08/2017 12:57

'Many do get over it. Not all women are forever broken.'

Nobody has claimed otherwise.

NoLoveofMine · 26/08/2017 12:58

Sylvia exactly right. The impact is never ending on anyone connected, but of course the victims are those who we should think of most. Lives are changed forever and often ruined. I read the victim impact statement of a 19 year old woman who was raped in Manchester last year - she'd dropped out of university, broken up with her boyfriend, become estranged from her father, developed mental health issues and started self harming. That is what these men do. It's not just a news story to be skimmed over and forgotten.

Child abuse images and porn involving animals is always extreme for gods sake. what planet are you living on?

SylviaPoe · 26/08/2017 13:01

Then I suggest you read what he was sentenced for again, Coin.

Scrumplestiltskin · 26/08/2017 13:07

I feel like Coin is deeply personally invested in this, in order to need to believe that sexual trauma does not leave you permanently altered, and that being brutally sexually used for money to the point that you require hospitalisation is not being victimised.
Basically, I doubt that a productive discussion can be had.
