Do you really feel at risk of violence constantly?

NoLoveofMine · 26/08/2017 11:14

Women and girls are at constant risk of male violence simply down to our sex.

OP posts:
Missymoo100 · 26/08/2017 11:20

But men and children are raped too, it's not just down to sex.

CoinOperatedGurl · 26/08/2017 11:22

Exactly!

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 26/08/2017 11:23

Well I thought women were supposed to support each other's choices

No

Feminist or not i am not going to support every womans choice, that mmakes no sense

NoLoveofMine · 26/08/2017 11:24

Since there are constant attacks on women and girls by men and boys unknown to them for no reason other than their sex it is down to sex. Your derailing is tiresome.

OP posts:
Missymoo100 · 26/08/2017 11:26

I can't see how I'm derailing either- simply pointing out generalising about men and porn isn't helpful to anyone.
It seems an example is chosen, used to illustrate how all men are bad and porn is partly to blame- but any discussion further than this has to be shot down.

Missymoo100 · 26/08/2017 11:27

Seems if you don't push the same message on here, your derailing or told to stfu

NoLoveofMine · 26/08/2017 11:27

I can give numerous examples of women and girls attacked by men and boys unknown to them for no other reason than their being female in this country from this year alone, and those are just the ones I can remember off the top of my head which were reported at all.

OP posts:
NoLoveofMine · 26/08/2017 11:28

What's your message? Men aren't responsible for male violence?

OP posts:
Missymoo100 · 26/08/2017 11:31

i don't disbelieve that there are numerous examples- as there are of rape/sexual abuse of men children, violence directed at everyone by everyone. This is just anecdotal evidence.

Oswin · 26/08/2017 11:37

The majority of violence is committed by men.
It's a fact. You can try the bullshit women do it too bit we all know your chatting shit.

Who the fuck comes on to a thread like this and spouts that bullshit ffs.

NoLoveofMine · 26/08/2017 11:37

Quite Oswin. It's tiresome and intended only to deflect from the issue of male violence.

OP posts:
CoinOperatedGurl · 26/08/2017 11:38

No

Feminist or not i am not going to support every womans choice, that mmakes no sense

So are you against rape porn?

Missymoo100 · 26/08/2017 11:39

Not all men are reponsible for acts committed by a minority. Blaming men on a whole, for sexual violence is not useful in identifying the cause or understanding of offending behaviour. There are other factors which mean certain males may commit offences.
Offending behaviour goes beyond just being male.

Missymoo100 · 26/08/2017 11:41

it's not "all" men though is it, it's like your suggesting that just being male is causative of violent or deviant sexual behaviour.

MrsTrebus · 26/08/2017 11:54

For those saying NAM please read this. It's even written by a man:

worldnewstrust.com/there-will-be-no-progress-until-we-name-the-problem-mickey-z

FFS the 'men and children are attached too' is only reinforcing the point. Yes most men who are raied are raped by men. Children assaulted by men. Terrorists are almost always men. We have a huge male violence problem and making excuses for it helps no one

Missymoo100 · 26/08/2017 11:56

Of course men are raped by men, because the offence of rape requires a penis.

Missymoo100 · 26/08/2017 12:05

yes crime is largely commuted by men- this is fact, but its still a small
minority of men.
I think the purpose of these threads is to show a horrible crime and use it as anecdotal evidence of why men are bad. Then we are all supposed to agree about how wicked men are and blame them for everything. This forum serves as an echo chamber for people with the same view. Anyone who disagrees just has to shut up or be accused of derailing. If I'm wrong what is the purpose of this thread? Please tell me the right way to discuss it? To me it's just misandry

NoLoveofMine · 26/08/2017 12:08

A thread about another violently misogynist man is "misandry" 😂

OP posts:
CoinOperatedGurl · 26/08/2017 12:20

Everything MissyMoo said is correct.

Missymoo100 · 26/08/2017 12:21

Well the original tone of this post with the comments made was exactly that. Why can't we debate if and to what extent does porn contribute to male sexual violence, which is a better point to come from this- rather than using an example to act as a batteting ram for men as a whole and paint them all out to be misogynistic

CoinOperatedGurl · 26/08/2017 12:21

We have a problem with violence in the world and often violence by women goes under reported or isn't taken seriously.

Scrumplestiltskin · 26/08/2017 12:25

The thing is, some men are fantastic, of course. I'm married to a good man, and have a son who is growing up to be a decent person, and feminist ally, and know other decent men who don't watch porn, etc.
But yes, when male violence is an epidemic, and when women are treated as sex objects, murdered, raped, tortured, abused, (more often than not merely for men's sexual pleasure,) then I will speak in generalities about men as a class.
It's called class analysis, and it involves looking at the overall behaviours and actions of an oppressor class, such as males.
If this class-based discussion upsets anyone more than the brutal rapes, murders, and abuses committed by men, then maybe they should make a new thread about that issue, rather than derailing this one.

NoLoveofMine · 26/08/2017 12:26

We have a problem with male violence in the world and this thread is about male sexual violence against women which is constant.
