Ridiculous, victim blaming advice to women and girls anyway but this shows yet again how pointless it is to suggest.

as someone who quite often walks home alone in London and would like the Met, you know, to give a damn if a violent rapist is wandering my neighbourhood...)

I'm exactly the same. For what it's worth I do know they have got a lot better at this in recent years (though far from perfect). My dad is a QC and has worked with them - he is aware of feminist issues and does say they are far better than they used to be.

Lass

NoLove has started another thread (different name), which does explain things somewhat.

NoLoveofMine

The comments and advice on that thread sound very solid.

The nature of mumsnet is that one sometimes chats merrily away about issues and then sometimes people reveal something, like you and the women on that thread, and one thinks oh my.

I'm always shocked at just how many people are inwardly dealing with trauma whilst nailing on a smile. Flowers to you and those women.

Maybe @NoLoveofMine doesn't mind being identified in RL?

I probably am a bit naive. I suppose I should think about these things more. I just feel very comfortable here and there are so many wonderful posters so didn't think much of it but advice is welcome.

Thank you very much Datun and for your message - I will reply properly soon. There are so many fantastic, supportive women on here and I'm very grateful for your kindness.
