Just a thought

feminism

the advocacy of women's rights on the ground of the equality of the sexes.

Just a thought and I can see me getting my butt handed to me but if feminism is about equality of sexes then should it not support both sexes?
I understand alot of issues in the world directly affect women but sometimes I fine feminism to be used as a big hate compain against men when really it should be bringing us all together and creating a fair and equal society.

Dont get me wrong im all for what feminism is but sometimes I feel that the idea of equality.

An example

I cant say all women do but alot objectify men on their appearance. I seem many people on here talk about "sexy" men in a derogatory way. A crush that makes their "fanny tingle" (yes iv read that) is no different to a guy saying a woman makes his cock hard.
A guy looking at a women body and making derogatory comments is no different from a female seeing a topless guys and making comments about his body.

However there are movements about how men should not look at a womans body and be aroused by it. That is just basic biology

Porn is another example people focus on the women in porn but there are just as many men in porn and alot of women watch porn. The idea that women in porn make unreachable expectations of how a woman should look and behave in the bedroom can be an issue with men in porn. Be it gay, tv or heterosexual.

Who is speaking up for them men?

The idea that women can only be sexually assaulted when I know many males who have been.
Who is sticking up for them men?

The pension age is lower for females, we have the choice of terminating a pregnancy regardless of how a male thinks or feels, we more often then not get full custody of children.

And thats just a few examples.

I often think the true meaning of equality is forgotten.

Right light me up

I dunno Officer, I think there's a risk the sperm stealing harpies would break into the vault, and when the men said that was what happened no-one would believe them.

Do you think that YellowChicken has scuttled back to Reddit a more sympathetic environment?

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 14/04/2017 15:38

When I was tweeting about the Acton FGM clinic, one of the first responses I got was "What about male circumcision?"

So I spent all of 5 minutes finding and tweeting him links to campaigns against male circumcision. No reply, not even a like. I bet he didn't even bother to click on them. Just had to make his point.

Quite Empress. So often the boys/men who derail any campaign for women with "what about men" don't care in the slightest about any issues which face men, just want to attack women and prevent any movement or campaign which helps women and girls. A bit like so many of those who do so are the same types who attack boys and men who aren't "manly" enough yet will start talking about supposed "pressures on men" if a woman brings up misogyny.

IAmAmy · 14/04/2017 15:44

On last year's IWD I saw a boy post "imagine if there was an International Men's Day, it'd be banned for being sexist and anyone who celebrated it locked up!" I and a few others pointed out there was one; his response was the witty "go make me a sandwich babes".

Xenophile · 14/04/2017 15:44

I might start a bookmarks folder of whataboutthemenz links for just these occasions.

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 14/04/2017 15:58

Gosh, what a load of nonsense from the OP.

Im saying a male shoukd be able to opt out of being a parent just as a woman can

Get a vasectomy or don't have sex or only have sex with menopausal women or women they know have had been sterilised.

illegitimateMortificadospawn · 14/04/2017 16:17

Men opt out of being parents all the time. My exBIL is one of them. Its why the CSA was set up...

JigglyTuff · 14/04/2017 16:25

I suspect YellowChicken's mum has reminded him it's time to go and visit his grandparents or something.

RogueBiscuit · 14/04/2017 16:40

Yellow why don't you fuck off and take your support for men to a mra forum? Who the fuck posts this shit on a feminist board?

A man, that's who. A man who wants attention from women.

DJBaggySmalls · 14/04/2017 16:49

Who is demonizing men anyway?

birdbandit · 14/04/2017 17:16

I going suggest the OP hasn't really thought this through before posting. Bit silly.

Seems to be a pro life emotive argument latched on to a vague idea that "men have it bad too" and that women need to fix it for the poor oppressed loves. Give your head a wobble love, and read a few books/newspapers.

SymbollocksInteractionism · 14/04/2017 17:52

A whataboutthemenz links would be ace, I've found myself in a couple of spats recently with people like this about domestic violence. Very tiresome!!

SarcasmMode · 14/04/2017 19:58

I am in two minds.

Yes I think sometimes a lot of feminists can be Cervantes misandrists who see that no matter what a man does he is wrong.

However, until the playing field is equal the harm is naturally more on woman as the more oft discriminated against sex.

I don't agree that it's fair that men are automatic rapists, that a man can't be a feminist, that males are automatically violent etc.

It makes me think of racism. Calling a white person a honky, or a white Cynthia is vile and should not be accepted. However, as a naturally more dominant race in this country the threat is not as threatening in general terms for a white personal (unless accounted by a group from another race). I see the same with sexism towards men - still vile but not so much fear and threat comes from remarks/behaviours aimed at men.

Plus a man never has to worry about a female forcefully inserting a part of their body into a private part into that male. The average man isn't scared to walk alone in case Jessica pushes him to the floor and violates him.

Sorry for the graphic nature but you get what I mean.

SarcasmMode · 14/04/2017 20:04

However I do not agree re: termination and work.

It's the woman's body so she decides - if it was his, he should decide.

Equally it's her who went through pregnancy and needs time off, potentially to breastfeed. It's implausible to get a man to have the same responsibilities there.

BertrandRussell · 14/04/2017 20:28

I do wonder where people read the stuff "a lot of feminists" are supposed to be saying. Where did you hear anyone saying that men are automatic rapists, or automatically violent etc?

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 14/04/2017 20:49

Is Cervantes a typo or is there a reference to Don Quixote here that I am missing?

BertrandRussell · 14/04/2017 20:58

Tilting at windmills.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 14/04/2017 21:07

Ah I see, thanks!

Miffer · 14/04/2017 22:15

Calling a white person a honky, or a white Cynthia is vile

Is it? I wouldn't give a single shit, I don't even know what the second one is and relate the first primarily with comedy.

I am becoming resentful of the whole "white feminist" bullshittery but that primarily comes from white transwomen which is the main reason why.

TitaniasCloset · 17/04/2017 06:04

So far as the suicide stats go, most mental health practitioners will speak to a potentially suicidal patient about preventive factors. These might be religious beliefs, responsibilities, shame on the family or quite usually the impact it will have upon people they love and have responsibilities to, mainly children but perhaps caring for relatives too.

These have a holding affect upon a suicidal person while they get help, or might mean that they self harm with medications instead of choosing a very final method of suicide.

And guess who tend to have the most caring and childcare responsibilities?

You need to look at why mens stats have been higher, not just use it as proof that men have it harder.

ChocChocPorridge · 17/04/2017 08:22

There was a similarly enlightening comment on the restraining patients thread, where MissSma said that the reasons were different for restraining women and men - that women were more likely to be restrained because they were trying to harm themselves, whereas men because they were trying to harm others.

I don't know what it means, but it means something.

patodp · 17/04/2017 10:14

Lol and no feminist ever has ever said men are automatically violent or automatically a rapist.

What feminists point out is the fact that 90% of sexual crime is committed by men... 98% (or even higher) of purchasers of sexual services are male and 88% of violent crime is committed by males. The victims of all of these behaviors are overwhelmingly female victims. This is NOT saying all men are criminals and sexual devianuts, as these stats still apply to a very very small overall percentage of the male population.

Stating that 2 women a week in the UK are murdered by their male partner, compared to 1 male a year by a female partner is not the same as saying "All men are murderers".
In fact men who are murdered by their partner are most likely to be murdered by their male partner.

This is not saying all men are natural born killers. It is putting accountability where it belongs.
