Gender Critical MNers Gathering Together On Twitter.

OverthinkingSpartacus · 10/03/2017 19:43

Creating this thread for those who want to follow/share/connect/engage with other gender critical MNers on Twitter after the suggestion was made on this thread to group together there to raise awareness of our concerns around the possibility of gender self identity replacing gender reassignment in the uk and trans ideology etc.

If you'd like to take part then please Pm me your Twitter name, over the weekend I will compile a list of MNers Twitter names and PM them back out to everyone on Monday. As it'll be an ongoing thing, I will add other Twitter handles that are sent after Monday and send updated lists via PM. Only your Twitter name will be given to other MNers and I won't share your MN username alongside your Twitter account with anyone.

If you know of any other public Twitter profiles that are openly gender critical such as Magdelan Burns, please feel free to share their Twitter names too and I shall add to the list.

Before you sign up for Twitter you will need an email or phone number for verification.
Understandably, many don't feel safe linking personal phone number or personal emails to gender critical posts so it might be best to create a separate email address for social media sites etc where you want to speak about concerns raised in the other threads. Gmail, outlook, yahoo are three sites off the top of my head that provide free web based email accounts.

When you click on sign up in Twitter it will give the option of signing up with a mobile number as a default but if you scroll down a little, there's an option to "use email instead"

Following this link should take you to the sign up page with the email option already selected.

If you are worried about your IP address being used to locate you, you can use VPN (Virtual Private Network) software/services that camouflage your actual IP and make it look as if you are accessing the Internet from elsewhere. I use an Android app called VPN master which can be downloaded from google play and once installed, it's just a case of opening app and and switching it on and accessing Internet as usual. You can have the VPN running all the time but it can drain battery so I open app and turn back off after using. There should be similar apps for iOS and Windows, I will link them in later post if I get time.

I can create a bunch of email and Twitter accounts for people if they are struggling, but wont be able to do it until Monday. I'll be less active online over the weekend but wanted to get the thread up so that people can start PMing their Twitter names.

Magdalen burns account is working fine when I just checked, if working fine means I can still look at it/read everything. I 'recueved' her tweets just yesterday.

Pink stinks is another good twitter to check, about kids being kids rather than the trans stealing fem space but still good.

WobblyLegs5 · 11/03/2017 14:12

I recueved a tweet about the 'eggs' getting treated like bots.

I've never changed my egg the whole time I was there & it's never stopped me using Twitter. Not sure why/if it will make a difference but the tweet said sonething about us eggs being pressumed to be trolls

MercyMyJewels · 11/03/2017 14:13

Miffer
If you follow too many accounts too quickly, Twitter thinks you are an automatic account and will lock it.

Create a new email with gmail or similar. Don't use personal stuff and you don't have to leave another email or phone number - just select skip (gmail). Then set up another twitter account but take your time following people. You should have to give your phone number then

WobblyLegs5 · 11/03/2017 14:16

Mercy, what does it matter if I use my real email? Just curious as I'm a bit techno phoBic & I allways assumed twitter was safe..... (don't use fb bc feels unsafe)

I've had my twitter account for ages. Nothing identifying in names or in my email. It suggests rl ppl I know to contact with but I just ignore that. And afaiw they don't follow me either. Am I safe?

MercyMyJewels · 11/03/2017 14:28

It is safer to be linked to a non personal email account. Also, what do you tweet about? Is there anything about your tweets/following/followers that could give people a clue to your identity - local politics, hobbies, that sort of thing?

Also, accounts can be hacked, so best not to have a real email address. Plus if you need to delete the account, you can delete it and the email account rather than having to delete an actual personal email, with all the hassle (and risk) that that would entail. It is really easy to set up a gmail account, it takes less than a minute

WobblyLegs5 · 11/03/2017 14:45

Can I switch that with the actual account I have? I don't tweet about anything local/personal.

MercyMyJewels · 11/03/2017 14:48

You can change the email in privacy and settings Wobbly

WobblyLegs5 · 11/03/2017 15:02

OK thanks I will look

WobblyLegs5 · 11/03/2017 15:34

OK think I did that. I think.....

Anther question. So transwomen do not share girlhood. Females share being socialised as a girl. Patriarchies are not all the same & religion yadada all influence how we experience girlhood. And I'm too dumb to see that.

Imo all the other factors are how we experience life. Girlhood is the experience of being socialised as less than males. So how do I counter the above? Other than not engaging with someone who resorts to insulting me with a bunch of big words?? Ideas anyone?

OverthinkingSpartacus · 11/03/2017 17:46

Just quickly checking in to thank everyone for the PMs.

I don't have time to reply to everyone today but I will, we have family staying and it's been hectic is weekend.

Someone asked if we had a hashtag, if everyone thinks it's a good idea is there a current one we can use or should we create a one?

Also about getting high profile twitterers to follow us, we could tweet the link to this thread directly to them.

If everything goes well here and no family drama happens I may be able to PM our list back out this evening or tomorrow Morning to everyone.

MercyMyJewels · 11/03/2017 17:55

Thanks for all your time and effort. Hope you get some lovely family time and Wine

I think a hashtag is a great idea. #MNGenderCritical ?

dangermouseisace · 11/03/2017 18:45

thanks for organising this overthinkingspartacus and have a good weekend.

mercy that sounds pretty succinct.

OverthinkingSpartacus · 11/03/2017 22:01

I think I've sent everyone the list, if you've not got one please PM me again and I will send it.

#MNGenderCritical is brilliant, shall we all use that one then?

OP posts:
Thelilywhite · 11/03/2017 22:29

I like #MNgender critical as well!

StillSeekingResponsibleAdult · 11/03/2017 22:53

I've only just found this thread. I'm a fairly recent convert to twitter and still find it hard work, in the sense there is never enough room to say what you need to say. If the # could be trimmed to #mngencrit it probably doesn't lose meaning, but leaves more characters for other stuff.

genderrefusenik · 11/03/2017 23:04

So I've only had my new gender critical account for a few days and already have a troll following me, waiting for me to tweet something he can pounce on no doubt.

Just a heads up to those who haven't used twitter before, this is likely to happen and it can get stressful when people 'come at you'. You can mute them or block them. You can also quote tweet them and hold their bs up to ridicule

genderrefusenik · 11/03/2017 23:07

Oo, you can also 'soft block' them: block them then unblock immediately afterwards. That way they are no longer following you but they are not blocked -- a bit more wiley way of doing it that's less confrontational

Miffer · 11/03/2017 23:09

MNSpartacus?

Fortheloveofscience · 11/03/2017 23:09

Placemarking - experiencing technology issues but hope to join you all soon

Thisisouting · 11/03/2017 23:10

Awww I've been blocked but I've not picked up a troll

Must try harder! Grin

Thisisouting · 11/03/2017 23:20

Oh and in case I get accused of bullying by a special snowflake I got blocked for 1 tweet stating the scientific fact that there are only 2 sexes male and female. Grin

OverthinkingSpartacus · 11/03/2017 23:50

If I get any abusive messages I'm going to screenshot and share it everywhere. Often the cowards delete the abusive tweets, so a screenshot is good if they try denying it.

To screenshot on iPhones and iPads you press Home and power button at same time.

To screenshot on Samsung Galaxy you press home button and volume up button, you'll get a white flash if successful.

I'm not sure about other devices though.

OP posts:
DJBaggySmalls · 12/03/2017 00:09

Can I suggest #MNGC as it needs to be as short as possible.
And yes, screenshot abusive tweets.

WobblyLegs5 · 12/03/2017 00:10

BiologyisnotBigotry is another nice hashtag, although more characters

If you need to say more you just keep following on in the next tweet. & start using fricken txt speak again (that mn hates!)

Thisisouting · 12/03/2017 00:32

Should we start a more coordinated plan of attack so pushing certain articles or questioning high profile individuals because I've started to just kind of get lost in a feminist/trans worm hole and I think we're just retweeting to ourselves.

We need to get something trending and into the mainstream accounts so we should maybe aim to get some of these articles into view on our personal accounts, from the anon ones obviously.

This would show we are starting to breakthrough into the wider social consciousness rather than in the feminist/trans bubble.

I hope this makes sense this is my post bed ramblings.
