Gender Critical MNers Gathering Together On Twitter.

OverthinkingSpartacus · 10/03/2017 19:43

Creating this thread for those who want to follow/share/connect/engage with other gender critical MNers on Twitter after the suggestion was made on this thread to group together there to raise awareness of our concerns around the possibility of gender self identity replacing gender reassignment in the uk and trans ideology etc.

If you'd like to take part then please Pm me your Twitter name, over the weekend I will compile a list of MNers Twitter names and PM them back out to everyone on Monday. As it'll be an ongoing thing, I will add other Twitter handles that are sent after Monday and send updated lists via PM. Only your Twitter name will be given to other MNers and I won't share your MN username alongside your Twitter account with anyone.

If you know of any other public Twitter profiles that are openly gender critical such as Magdelan Burns, please feel free to share their Twitter names too and I shall add to the list.

Before you sign up for Twitter you will need an email or phone number for verification.
Understandably, many don't feel safe linking personal phone number or personal emails to gender critical posts so it might be best to create a separate email address for social media sites etc where you want to speak about concerns raised in the other threads. Gmail, outlook, yahoo are three sites off the top of my head that provide free web based email accounts.

When you click on sign up in Twitter it will give the option of signing up with a mobile number as a default but if you scroll down a little, there's an option to "use email instead"

Following this link should take you to the sign up page with the email option already selected.

If you are worried about your IP address being used to locate you, you can use VPN (Virtual Private Network) software/services that camouflage your actual IP and make it look as if you are accessing the Internet from elsewhere. I use an Android app called VPN master which can be downloaded from google play and once installed, it's just a case of opening app and and switching it on and accessing Internet as usual. You can have the VPN running all the time but it can drain battery so I open app and turn back off after using. There should be similar apps for iOS and Windows, I will link them in later post if I get time.

I can create a bunch of email and Twitter accounts for people if they are struggling, but wont be able to do it until Monday. I'll be less active online over the weekend but wanted to get the thread up so that people can start PMing their Twitter names.

Also it would be useful for someone to create images using picmonkey (or photoshop skills) which fit the twitter dimensions.
Something with the dictionary definition of woman would be useful. Including the hashtag too. That way it can be retweeted and included in messages on lots of different topics and keeps the message "on brand".
In fact it would be simple to create a catalogue of images of quotes for different replies or occasions. These kinds of things have huge amounts of engagement especially likes and retweets.

Scissorcisters · 13/03/2017 00:25

Eaxactly what I said then.

EatSpamAmandaLamb · 13/03/2017 00:26

Christ.

Scissorcisters · 13/03/2017 00:27

No, Allah.

EatSpamAmandaLamb · 13/03/2017 00:34

Wait, not to derail this but I feel like I have done something wrong. If I have please let me know, I would very much like to contribute to this cause but don't want to tread on toes or cause issues. Sorry if I have misunderstood, I'm in a lot of pain and feel snarked upon when my dog looks the wrong way at me.
I hope my former career (social media, PR and media) can be of assistance.

Scissorcisters · 13/03/2017 00:43

You've done nothing wrong and have much to add. I work in web too. I'm being over sensitive I know and its from a thread yesterday. Sorry. Im passionate about womens safety and it's the one subject theres no grey areas for me.

EatSpamAmandaLamb · 13/03/2017 00:48

Ok, then I misunderstood. A thread in general yesterday? Hope you are ok?
I was agreeing with you by the way.

Scissorcisters · 13/03/2017 01:11

Thank you. Im being terfed on twitter.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 13/03/2017 01:19

All those receiving violent threats should screenshot them and gather as much evidence about where they came from as possible. Keep them (somewhere where you do not have to look at them obviously). This will be useful for

  • posting them publicly (with info that identifies you removed of course) to show what violent, misogynistic scum many of the TRAs are.
  • showing them to MPs and others who think that the TRAs are a bunch of nice people in dresses who are the most oppressed victims in the world.
  • potentially shaming anyone who is identified, particularly if they have a 'nice' public persona.

Also, at all times remain polite and calm. Don't sink to their level. Take the high moral ground.

Make sure that you have optimum security on your own computers and netwrks too - even if you pay someone to install it - some of these scum are keyboard warriors who are quite capable of data theft and a novice twitter user is a sitting duck for this.

Never post anything or even check your account from a work computer.

Be vigilant aorund passwords.

Miffer · 13/03/2017 01:48

Gahhh, fuckers. I want to tweet too. I may actually have to buy a burner phone. Are those real? How do I get one?

Thisisouting · 13/03/2017 08:00

Scissorcisters if they are TERFing you it means you've hit a nerve Grin

Link for today is
transgenderreality.com/tag/cotton-ceiling/

Use #spartacunt

shinynewusername · 13/03/2017 08:14

Sorry but I don't think using a hashtag with cunt in it is a good idea. Lots of people who receive online abuse e.g. MPs will just block whoever has tweeted, assuming it's more abuse. And those are exactly the people we want to influence.

Datun · 13/03/2017 08:26

#terfwar? (Turf war)

#spartfart (Spartacus-famales against radical trans-activists)

Thisisouting · 13/03/2017 08:33

Well we need to agree something and nothing is being proposed so.....

Thisisouting · 13/03/2017 13:05

OK I've had a search on twitter.

we want them to recognise that what we are fighting for is women's rights so how would everyone feel about

#suffregette

It links in with this being part of our on going struggle against men

It's not inflammatory to send out to high profile public figures.

Thisisouting · 13/03/2017 13:13

The first tweets for this hashtag sets up the hashtag. So something like

Stop the erasure of women's rights. I am Spartacus I am a 21st century #suffregette

Link to petition for gender identity bill.
www.citizengo.org/en-gb/pc/41304-say-not-dangerous-gender-identity-bill

Then we start tweeting supporting articles to every MP using #suffregette.

Keep away from the #Transcult #TERF when using #suffregette these need to reasoned non argumentative so that they can't dismiss us and it can be retweeted without outing yourself as a TERF because it's not anti trans it's pro women.

AssassinatedBeauty · 13/03/2017 13:16

Did you mean "suffregette" spelt with an e on purpose, or did you mean "suffragette"?

Thisisouting · 13/03/2017 13:22

Sorry I meant the actual correct spelling?! I've spelt it wrong once and my autocorrect has picked it up?! Blush

I should proof read my messages

MercyMyJewels · 13/03/2017 13:26

I like 21st Century suffragette. How about #21CSuffragette or #newsuffragette or #stillsufferagette

Throwing other ideas out there

#weneedfeminists

or #21stCSpartacus

or #SexnotGender

#BiologyNotGender

MercyMyJewels · 13/03/2017 13:29

Or to be honest i think something like
#GenderIsBollocks

#GenderISSexist

#GenderIsMysogynist

#WomenRejectGenders

Still throwing ideas....

Thisisouting · 13/03/2017 14:01

I think we need to stay away from anything that can be twisted into transphobia because then it's easier to dismiss.

I like #21Csuffragette is my initial idea but I searched on #suffregette and got no results so thought that was shorter, I did think it was weird no one had used it Blush

Can I blame lack of sleep caused by baby I'll give myself a Biscuit

Imalldonethanks · 13/03/2017 14:06

Sorry, I haven't read the full thread but am going to catch up later. In the meantime, I thought I'd share an email I sent to my MP in case anyone wants to use / adapt it.

Dear XXX
I am writing to you with regards the Gender Identity (Protected Characteristic) Bill. I believe it is a Private Member's Bill, sponsored by Mrs Maria Miller, and is due to have its second reading on 24th March.

For numerous reasons, I have grave concerns about the consequences for women (I specifically mean 'cis' women) should the bill be passed.

I believe trans people should be given fair protection by the law to ensure they cannot be discriminated against and that any hate crimes can be prosecuted.
I do not believe, however, that in order to achieve this, the best and fairest way for society is to have a blanket acceptance of 'you are what you say you are' with regards sex.

Sex is a biological feature which dictates many physiological aspects such as strength and speed, as well as certain behaviours such as propensity to violence.
If how a person self-identifies their gender becomes the legal definition of male and female, here are a few situations I fear could take place (and have indeed taken place around the world).

  • People who achieve positions of seniority, particularly in male-dominated fields, and then transition would be counted in statistics looking at equality. I would argue, however, that if you worked your way up the career ladder as a man then you didn't have to overcome any of the barriers that face women, and therefore shouldn't be counted as a woman. Separate statistics should be collated for trans-people, to ensure they are fairly represented.
  • Biological males who identify as women could compete in sports against biological women. This could potentially erase competitive sports for women and be dangerous in the cases of contact sports such as rugby.
E.g. Renee Richards (tennis player. Transitioned to female and now believes it would have been unfair of her to compete as a woman if she had transitioned earlier in life) E.g. Laurel Hubbard (New Zealand weightlifter. Competed and trained as a man, now identifies as a woman) E.g. My own personal experience of playing with a post-operative transgender woman. She admitted she had to play 'within' herself so as not to cause us injury. We went from being a middle of the league team, to thrashing other teams 10-0 regularly when she joined. Great for our league position, but dangerous and unfair.
  • Being able to request a medical professional to be of a certain sex can be very important to many people of both sexes. Many religious men and women would find it difficult to be examined by someone who identified as the same sex, but didn't appear so in reality.
Recording crimes according to self-identified gender as opposed to biological sex means women are now being recorded as committing rape. Which is an impossibility as I understand it, as in law the definition of rape is centered around penis penetration. Would this mean government strategies may need to be devised to tackle the increase in female violence? Much debate around transgender people focuses on the fact they 'feel' like a man, or they 'feel' like a woman. When asked to explain this more, examples are often cited such as 'I liked wearing dresses, nail varnish and high heels. I preferred to play with dolls'. I do none of those things, but do love climbing trees and wearing jeans every day. I also like a woman. Much of the debate reinforces gender stereotypes - that if you have short hair and like football you are 'like a boy', and if you prefer dolls and dresses you are 'like a girl'. It would seem to me better for everyone concerned to try to dismantle gender stereotypes so that it is socially acceptable for boys to cry and for girls to roll in mud. Then we could achieve much greater sex equality which would be of benefit to all.

I would argue that the official warning from the BBC and online abuse in general Jenni Murray received after writing a balanced piece in The Sunday Times about this issue and the fact that many universities are threatening to no-platform eminent speakers such as Grayson Perry is stifling debate. As with many difficult situations where the needs of some people have to be balanced against the needs of others, I feel it shouldn't simply be those who shout loudest win and the rest of us are bigots.

Many thanks for reading my email. I hope I have conveyed my concerns to you enough for you to be present when the bill is being debated and to ensure the rights of biologically born women will not be diminished should it pass.

Best regards,

MercyMyJewels · 13/03/2017 14:09

The problem with suffragette is that is was a fight for suffrage, which is not under threat. Other rights are obviously.

I do think that 'gender' is key to it all. How about something like #NotAGenderSlave

#NoToGenderSlavery

#2SexesNoGenders

#2SexesInfinatePersonalities

MercyMyJewels · 13/03/2017 14:10

2 Sexes [infinity sign] Personalities

MercyMyJewels · 13/03/2017 14:14

#2SexesNoGenderRoles
