Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

Gender Critical MNers Gathering Together On Twitter.

OverthinkingSpartacus · 10/03/2017 19:43

Creating this thread for those who want to follow/share/connect/engage with other gender critical MNers on Twitter after the suggestion was made on this thread to group together there to raise awareness of our concerns around the possibility of gender self identity replacing gender reassignment in the uk and trans ideology etc.

If you'd like to take part then please Pm me your Twitter name, over the weekend I will compile a list of MNers Twitter names and PM them back out to everyone on Monday. As it'll be an ongoing thing, I will add other Twitter handles that are sent after Monday and send updated lists via PM. Only your Twitter name will be given to other MNers and I won't share your MN username alongside your Twitter account with anyone.

If you know of any other public Twitter profiles that are openly gender critical such as Magdelan Burns, please feel free to share their Twitter names too and I shall add to the list.

Before you sign up for Twitter you will need an email or phone number for verification.
Understandably, many don't feel safe linking personal phone number or personal emails to gender critical posts so it might be best to create a separate email address for social media sites etc where you want to speak about concerns raised in the other threads. Gmail, outlook, yahoo are three sites off the top of my head that provide free web based email accounts.

When you click on sign up in Twitter it will give the option of signing up with a mobile number as a default but if you scroll down a little, there's an option to "use email instead"

Following this link should take you to the sign up page with the email option already selected.

If you are worried about your IP address being used to locate you, you can use VPN (Virtual Private Network) software/services that camouflage your actual IP and make it look as if you are accessing the Internet from elsewhere. I use an Android app called VPN master which can be downloaded from google play and once installed, it's just a case of opening app and and switching it on and accessing Internet as usual. You can have the VPN running all the time but it can drain battery so I open app and turn back off after using. There should be similar apps for iOS and Windows, I will link them in later post if I get time.

I can create a bunch of email and Twitter accounts for people if they are struggling, but wont be able to do it until Monday. I'll be less active online over the weekend but wanted to get the thread up so that people can start PMing their Twitter names.

Just changed my Twitter profile to include #21Csuffragette.

Will be using it in retweets (appropriate ones, football related ones not so much Grin)

Great idea all!

BeyondUnderthinking · 18/03/2017 09:47

I've just added it to mine too
Great post cooljazz

Thisisouting · 19/03/2017 13:27

Hey I've been a bit quiet as I've been ill all week and baby is teething.

Will resume tweeting MPs good post cooljazz

I might start following some of the less radical Radfem accounts and retweeting on my personal account.

Datun · 20/03/2017 00:56

We're getting noticed.

I notice that blog writer just wants to pee in peace behind a cubicle door but rejects the option of a third space.

DameDeDoubtance · 20/03/2017 07:05

Just coming on to post that Datun. Where do you start? How do you convince someone that being feminine doesn't make you female, it just makes you feminine. Nothing wrong with that, we need more men to say fuck this for a game of soldiers I fancy wearing a dress today, open up what it is to be a man.

chanceofrain · 20/03/2017 07:12

Ughhh that blog post made my skin crawl, Datun. We should all go back to discussing how to get little Jimmy to eat his veggies.

The comment at the end was brilliant though - succinct and spot on.

tigerdriverII · 20/03/2017 07:22

Yes, the comment was excellent although I don't understand Andie's response : "…writes John."

jellyfrizz · 20/03/2017 07:41

From Andie's Twitter feed (linked at bottom of page) 8hrs ago:

Just asked a bunch of Mumsnet TERFs what they'd do if their son/daughter turned out to be trans. Not. One. Single. Response. Funny that, eh?

Not sure where this was posted?

QuentinSummers · 20/03/2017 07:42

Cross the commenter has "appropriated" a male name I thought. Which rather proves John's point. It doesn't matter what I'm called, I'm still a woman.

Datun · 20/03/2017 08:05

It wasn't. Apart from anything else we've had several parents of trans children state they massively appreciate our support. And I've never yet seen a mumsnetter refuse to answer any question, ever. Quite the contrary!

I have a strong suspicion that the author of that blog is strangeadventure from the Jeska thread.

I'm wondering if our recent Twitter activity is drawing fire.

Mumsnet is not some piddly little blog. It has millions and millions of unique users every month.

That blogger's article degenerated very quickly - 'mumsnetters are angry, bitter, twisted trolls'.

Angry, yes. Also, intelligent, informed, articulate, rational and courteous.

The more a blogger like that draws attention to mumsnet, the better, as far as I'm concerned.

tigerdriverII · 20/03/2017 08:35

QuentinSummers

I did rather think it was that. But then thought I'd missed the point. If indeed there was one!

#irony

tigerdriverII · 20/03/2017 08:41

I've just asked Andie on Twitter if she can link to the thread she's moaning about.

I wonder what she'll say?

jellyfrizz · 20/03/2017 08:41

Yes. Blogger Realises Pissing Off Mumsnet Readers Boosts Hits.

WobblyLegs5 · 20/03/2017 09:05

It's so badly written I cringed

The oh not all transwomen are criminals point- well no, but at same rates as males and we don't want mixed sex prisions or refuges either. The writter only commented on toilet spaces, no mention of how the law effects prisions/refuges/hospitals/children's showers in school etc

Diminishing us all to toddler mummies & referring to us as a 'brigade'. Sounds like someone who is too familiar with mn insults nor someone who just popped in. Complementing feminIst threads, like adults need positive feedback, to seem reasonable just makes them more unreasonable, no one needs you to decide what's a good feminist discussion & what's not.

The only point vaguely worth anything is about the transman in female toilets, because I wounder what these females want in regard to female spaces- clearly they don't want the 60%rape rate they report in male prisions in us- but otherwuse what's their opinion & how do we find out? If a transman needs to access a dv refuge or psych hospital do they want to be in with females, males or a seperate space (mixed or gender neutral or anything else) same goes for public toilets showers and the like, and do these females want the choice of female or male for pre op smears etc?. I've only ever heard opinions from transwomen, or men who dress as women. But ofcourse transmen are women too & their input in missing in these discussions. Anyone have any links? Rl sources?

WoodPigeonInFlight · 20/03/2017 09:11

I'm tweeting about the Gender Identity Bill using #21CSuffragette and #SexNotGender.

WobblyLegs5 · 20/03/2017 09:16

& hearts pure & open yuk! Man's idea of what a woman should be

WrongTrouser · 20/03/2017 09:19

Transfeminine, non-binary, transgender... a minority within a minority within a minority but confused by a woman using a male philosopher's name as a user name Grin
