Jenni Murray Woman's hour today (trans)

Hey,
Did anyone hear Jenni Murray on woman's hour today, her guest was India Willoughby. India is trans and was advocating that it was correct for the Dorchester to dictate that their female staff shave their legs.

India was very spiked in her conversation and implied Jenni was transphobic because the panalists didn't agree.

Again, a woman being called transphobic because they didn't agree with a transwoman's opinion.

Thank you Jenni for standing up for women!

Star Hairy brilliant!

Kennington · 02/12/2016 15:42

Shaving your legs makes you clean? I have heard it all now.

Notwhatiexpected · 02/12/2016 15:55

HairyLittlePoet, oh my goodness, your poem is a beauty. LOVE it. Thank you!

Hairy that is brilliant! Star

Shaving your legs makes you clean?

I'm going to delight in telling DP he is a filthy, unclean animal next he gets out of the shower without shaving his legs. Or is it just unclean when it's women choosing not to shave...maybe our hair is filled with bacteria and grime and we just didn't realise?

HairyLittlePoet · 02/12/2016 16:21

Those of you who tweet, India's twitter feed is full of people slamming and mauling the "transphobic" Jenni Murray for having the brass neck to challenge India's assertion that we dirty filthy hairylegged women don't deserve jobs unless we shave.

Fly, my pretties, fly...

HairyLittlePoet · 02/12/2016 16:22

Nooooo TOB
It is only women who are uncleaaaaaannnnn.

India can't have dated many male cyclists.

My ex, an avid cyclist, shaved his legs more often than I did.

Did that make him a woman? Oh my GOD, was I GAY??!!11!!

Piffle and balderdash. Meet the new boss, same as the old boss, misogyny is as it ever was. Women in their natural state are unpalatable and unacceptable. Go Jenni!

illegitimateMortificadospawn · 02/12/2016 18:30

Has anyone messaged Jenni or the Woman's Hour team a link to this thread yet? I have a hunch Hairy's poem would really cheer Jenni up, especially if she's getting heaps of shit from the TRAs.

Yourface · 02/12/2016 18:45

There are quite a few tweets on it. Lots from both sides.

Room101isWhereIUsedToLive · 02/12/2016 18:50

When I was dating a trans-women a couple of years ago, she tried suggesting that I should shave my arms. I gave her side eyes.

HermioneWeasley · 02/12/2016 18:58

"there are loads of women who were born as women who subscribe to the bullshit"

Nobody is "born a woman". Are you confused?

Human babies are either girls (female) or boys (male). Woman is what we call an adult human female.

Just mentioning again that it is possible to contact Woman's Hour via their website. I left a comment because I'm worried that Jenni will be hauled ov the coals for transphobia and there is a possibility that the BBC might even enact some pro TRA guidelines as a result (nasty wimmins should not hurt transwomen with mean words or logic). Plus, I bet that trans media watch are out in force saying how transphobia Jenni was ... The link is here

OlennasWimple · 02/12/2016 23:27

Thanks - I've emailed WH

BakeOffBiscuits · 02/12/2016 23:48

I've emailed too.

AskBasil · 02/12/2016 23:48

Wow.
So WH will be full of transplaining from now on.

When Jenni M retires, they'll get India in to tell us wims how to groom properly.

Oh well.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 02/12/2016 23:51

India doesn't believe in Woman's Hour though, thinks it's outdated. Said so on Facebook earlier.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 03/12/2016 00:05

Yes, please do email in all ... I think it is important that we start acting with as much organisation as trans media watch ...

doesthatmakesense · 03/12/2016 00:27

Email sent. It really, really annoys me that I have no easy explanation for why this kind trans politic is so unacceptable. I need it printed on a label so I can stick it on my diary: a nice, easy to understand sentence would be great: "this is not okay because..."

Twogoats · 03/12/2016 00:34

"Gosh yeah, these feminists have been saying all this stuff, and yeah, they just don't get what it's really like to be a woman, you know, yeah."
