Jenni Murray Woman's hour today (trans)

Hey,
Did anyone hear Jenni Murray on woman's hour today, her guest was India Willoughby. India is trans and was advocating that it was correct for the Dorchester to dictate that their female staff shave their legs.

India was very spiked in her conversation and implied Jenni was transphobic because the panalists didn't agree.

Again, a woman being called transphobic because they didn't agree with a transwoman's opinion.

Thank you Jenni for standing up for women!

Appreciate your pronoun contortions FloraFox, btw.
I do so enjoy the linguistic gymnastics we are required to use lest we get banhammered.

Jenni called India 'him' when referring to whe he was john. Controversial!

ExitPursuedBySantaSpartacus · 02/12/2016 14:25

I've gone for a slightly festive rename.

OlennasWimple · 02/12/2016 14:25

V good Aye

I love Jenni Murray. I'd like her to interview Maria Miller next please

OlennasWimple · 02/12/2016 14:27

Poldarks - I thought it was acceptable to use a male pronoun when talking about pre-transition? So I can say "When Bruce Jenner won his Olympic gold medal he was regarded as the best athlete in the world, but although she still exercises regularly Caitlyn Jenner would struggle to complete ten events over two days"

HOHOHOvariesBeforeBrovaries · 02/12/2016 14:30

I think it's very telling of the echo chamber mentality on Twitter. To the untrained eye it looks like lots of people are supporting India. Dig a little deeper and all those in support are trans.

HOHOHOvariesBeforeBrovaries · 02/12/2016 14:30

Sorry, hit send too soon. Could it be that more and more people are finally reaching peak trans?

PoldarksBreeches · 02/12/2016 14:31

She also referred to 'men' who have had surgery and regretted it...

On Women's Hour, India Willoughby
Protested the dreadful hostility
We all lack docility
And malleability
In all probability
We've outlived utility
We're showing senility
Unacceptibility
Hairy-legged bristly
offends all civility
lacks amiability
prompts irritability
flocculent woollyfly
unshorn pilifery
incomprehensibly
unclean hirsutery
call yourselves womanly?
Buy a depilatory
Shave responsibly.

Offends my fragility.

oops - last line was probably meant to be buried somewhere in the middle. Rushing. Soz! Grin

Brava!

I was stuck in traffic so kind of a captive audience. I started off swearing at my radio and ended up laughing. The absurdity of some of the trans-activists rhetoric is becoming so evident now that their platform is bigger.

PoldarksBreeches · 02/12/2016 14:46

I don't think people are 'supposed' to misgender trans people and refer to their pre trans state, especially those trans like India who believe they haven't actually transitioned but were always their preferred gender.
I mean you can get away with it, in a way you wouldn't if you called India 'he' now, but it's definitely a line being drawn on Jenni's part, even if she doesn't realise it herself.

OlennasWimple · 02/12/2016 14:57

The mental gymnastics needed to say something like "When Bruce Jenner won the gold medal in the men's decathalon she was regarded as the world's best athlete" with a straight face and actually meaning it....

ExitPursuedBySantaSpartacus · 02/12/2016 15:00

But you can't erase history.

PoldarksBreeches · 02/12/2016 15:01

'Why would I shave my legs when living as a man!'
'Exactly'
'No no no you're wrong! Trabsphobe!'

HairyLittlePoet · 02/12/2016 15:03

Tidied it up a bit:

Women. Please Shave Responsibly

On Women's Hour, India Willoughby
Protested the dreadful hostility
When host Jenni Murray
Questioned legality
And palatability
of enforced femininity
our employability
In direct jeopardy
How do you feel about sex inequality?
But India doesn't see what could our problem be;

We all lack docility
And malleability
In all probability
We've outlived utility
We're showing senility
Unacceptibility
Hairy-legged bristly
Offends my fragility.
affront to civility
lacks amiability
prompts irritability
flocculent woollyfly
unshorn pilifery
incomprehensibly
unclean hirsutery
call yourselves womanly?
Buy a depilatory
Shave responsibly.

Does Woman's Hour have a webpage or FB page? I can see India Willoughby has one...

HumphreyCobblers · 02/12/2016 15:28

That poem is inspired

I though Jenni was very taken aback by the hostility, Women's hour in general has been unquestioningly pro the Transactivist agenda. I don't think she realised what a minefield it is to the uninitiated.
