1st thread here

MN has invited Paris Lee to speak at its Blogging event.

Meanwhile, actual women are being silenced.

OP posts:

PL behaviour re enjoying being catcalled, fantasising what other people think about her going to have a gangbang etc, is just living out male pornography fantasies. It's has nothing to do with being a woman, just a male fantasy of what it is to be a woman and to be in the position of being a woman in that situation. Isn't there a word for this? My memory is failing me, or perhaps I just can't name the condition as I want this post to stand.

And this is an opposing voice on a women's forum event. Why not get some hairy MRAs and be done with it. At least we would see the wolf, not the pretty frocks and lippy

Tam I am also finding this very stressful. Hope your blood pressure reduces and that you come back soon

Batteriesallgone · 11/11/2016 09:48

I didn't see the first thread.

But now I feel like I've been punched.

Mumsnet inviting PL to an event. Its a proof we still need feminism I suppose. Women supporting women being trodden on and put in their place is A-OK as long as you can make money from it. Sick.

Thisjustinno · 11/11/2016 09:57

Marking place.

CaesiumTime · 11/11/2016 10:06

I agree, Ibelieve

GinAndTunic · 11/11/2016 10:06

Lees and another mtt laughed about fucking a 'crazy bitch' stalker.

WAT

CaesiumTime · 11/11/2016 10:09

The best thing that could happen is that all the attendees to the panel discussion with PL in it showed up wearing "I am Spartacus" TShirts. It's a non violent but clear protest. And makes an elephant in the room.

It almost makes me want to print Tshirts out and go hand them out for free on the day.

GinAndTunic · 11/11/2016 10:21

Am I right in thinking that PL still has a penis?

gin

"I’m not generally keen on discussing the genitals of trans people as a) it’s rude and b) I believe, as a community, that we’ve been reduced to body parts for far too long."

My money would be on 'yes'.

GinAndTunic · 11/11/2016 10:30

I normally don't care about people's genitals but it is relevant in this case.

Datun · 11/11/2016 10:32

Genitalia is relevant in every case, as far as I'm concerned.

GinAndTunic · 11/11/2016 10:33

I am waiting for MN to delete my post but it's ok because my post was answered. And even if the responses are deleted that would be a shame but at least I got an answer to my question.

SpeckledyBanana · 11/11/2016 10:34

Checking in.

CaesiumTime · 11/11/2016 10:38

"Genitalia is relevant in every case, as far as I'm concerned."

I agree.

BitchPeas · 11/11/2016 10:38

Checking in to show my support.

You are all much more eloquent than I am. My mind is just going, what the actual fuck, what the actual fuck, what the actual fuck, over and over again.

Datun · 11/11/2016 10:39

They can't delete Lees' own words being used to clarify the answer to a question!

In fact, this entire thread could be merely links to what Lees herself has said, with no judgement whatsoever. The words speak for themselves.

RufusTheSpartacusReindeer · 11/11/2016 10:42

I am completely confused

I thought it was ok to say penis because women have them too

So saying she is laughing her cock off shouldnt be deleted as its the same as laughing his arse off

Someone needs to release a guidebook...

So i cant say "you are a misogynist" but i can say " i am sorry but i feel your posts may make someone...not me obviously, think that you may have a teeny tiny streak of misogyny in your views"

Can i still tell people to fuck off?

So no one is disabalist or racist either, i can report them for that?

I know a lot of people are distressed by this and fair play...but i am going to be a busy little bunny with my reporting button

Datun · 11/11/2016 10:50

"I’m not generally keen on discussing the genitals of trans people as a) it’s rude and b) I believe, as a community, that we’ve been reduced to body parts for far too long."

The more I look at this, the more imitated I become. It's now RUDE to want a penis bearer out of my space. When it's the ENTIRE reason why????

BeyondReasonablyDoubts · 11/11/2016 10:50

If reporting didn't faff about taking you to another page, I'd do it a hell of a lot more often!!

Datun · 11/11/2016 10:50

*irritated obviously!

RufusTheSpartacusReindeer · 11/11/2016 10:54

beyond

I struggle as i try to remain polite in my reporting

So it tends to be

"I think this person may be being a bit over the top in their posts, obviously i may be mistaken so sorry if this is not the case"

As opposed to

"FOR FUCKS SAKE THIS POSTER IS A CUNT...BAN THE TWAT"

Which is what i am thinking

VincentVL · 11/11/2016 10:56

The sponsor of the panel is Dove now (was Unilever). One of their slogans, "When it comes to your body, love the one you're with".
Paris Lees is a male person who has had a number of surgeries, including 'facial feminisation', in order to present as their idea of what women are. Skim through Lees articles and there is image after image of PL, surgically altered, digitally enhanced, always heavily made up, never in a natural pose. A huge contrast to the other women panellists.

The unmentionable condition, the elephant in the room. Dove wants an image of promoting women's natural beauty, there are no women as unnaturally presented as Lees in any of Dove's advertising. One rule for the xy, another rule for the xx. Cant say men, censored from pointing out that adult males are men, if they say they aren't. Cant say women, because the new definition that 'a woman is someone who identifies as a woman' is as clear as meconium. One rule for these self identified women who were identified as male previously, another rule for those women who have always been identified as women. Thinking and speaking is so fun this new male defined age, mostly the same as the old male defined age, with added language difficulties.
