Not been in a pub for a bit but just finished breastfeeding my first so will have one of ALL THE DRINKS to make up for lost time.

When I was breastfeeding (more than a decade ago ) I made sure to consult many different midwives, and one said you must stick to red wine, and one said to stick to colourless alcohol so I had all the bases covered.

Has anyone read Cordelia Fine's new book? I saw a review the other day, but I don't really have time to read at the moment so have been on the same book for months.

What did you say to get that response Devi? I can only imagine!

Actually it has really upset me, but also made me angry. I want to hear all women's voices and experiences, I think that's what feminism should be about. All the virtue signalling and infighting makes me sad to see as women should be supportive of each other. Also I think it makes feminism ineffective as no one is ever going to tick all those intersectional boxes.
I'm too second wave is the problem. Need a nice woman only meeting with body hair and lentils

You can't argue with that level of stupid. I feel that as "intersectionality" is generally interpreted in this way, it's not for me. That doesn't mean I don't try to consider issues of race, poverty and disablism in my approach to feminism (not gender identity), but I don't think intersectional feminism was originally meant to be about shaming women and silencing them.

I don't usually watch television but I did last night and saw a deodorant ad that was all about armpits. Lots of different ones, but all of them hairless. Wax, shave, pluck the ad said.

I never think about my armpits. I spray deodorant on them but I have left them in their natural state since my teens. Am I that unusual?

I wax below the knee but otherwise my body hair is untouched. I have never had any complaints.

Devi I enjoyed that article. It seems to me that she is not unaware of the fact that being white and "within acceptable norm" makes life a bit easier for her. Not sure what more she could have done for this specific project.

venus exactly! It has not given me a high opinion of intersectional feminism. How does spending time putting down other women advance the feminist cause?
I feel like they are in denial. But I'm sure they'd say I was in an echo chamber.
