Mine's a quadruple gin with a double whisky chaser. I need it after that awful thread. Who knew so many people from the 1950s had been brought forward in a time machine to post on MN? I wish MNHQ would lock threads rather than delete. Some posters were being pretty horrible but it's crap when all the good stuff is lost too.

Whether that thread was about behaviour that was criminal (IMO, yes) or behaviour that was appalling (at the least), that anyone was defending it in any way was shocking.

I agree mostlyhet and even. I've whinged about it before many, many times but there was a thread in relationships by a man saying how he coerced his wife into sex. And I (and others) were chastised by many posters for pointing out that coerced sex = rape, before mn deleted the thread for "privacy reasons"

I've pretty much stayed away since then, though I probably shouldn't.

I thought it was probably that thread, not - that was the one which occasioned my request for a quadruple gin and whisky chaser a few posts back in the pub. It just makes me think of my poor sister, struggling to find the strength and emotional resources to get out of an abusive marriage and being told by the religious elders in the cookie religion that she'd got involved with to give her husband another chance because marriage was sacred and they'd had a word with her husband and were sure he'd be a nice chap from now on. People like the idiots on that thread don't realise or don't care that by minimising and victim blaming they're condemning some woman to a living hell.
