Anyone seen Magdalen Berns? She's an Edinburgh student who does some fantastic feminist videos and activism. She is a lesbian and has gone up against Ada J Wells and been banned from the Edinburgh LGBT society. I think she needs our support!

I, and hundreds of other women, chanted along with her "there is no such thing as a lesbian with a penis" in London in July. Spent the evening with her in the pub afterwards. She was great and no one seemed to care that I'm straight and long into middle age

I am not someone who goes in for being a fan of people but I told her that I was a massive fan. She thought that was very funny. Got a photo with her, which I cherish . She's excellent company, just as funny and fluent as on YouTube.

She's really tiny, very slim, which makes her courage even more impressive when you think of her opponents. Her video about basically being excluded from the LGBT groups which should be a haven for young lesbians was brave but it was also painful. She's a tiger for truth but it's a lot to carry, and she's not that old. It's very difficult to swim against such a tide. I would buckle under the sheer hatred she receives. She's a hero. Needs to stay in politics for all our sakes.

I've just found her channel on YouTube. She is so intelligent - I think she's amazing. The way that she constructs her arguments makes perfect sense.

Massive fan. She's brave and incisive. Talks like she's just smoked one, then casually drops into her monologue that she's a physicist. Love it.

I adore her. She articulates everything about the trans debate that I believe but can't put into words.

She's boss. I do find her videos to be a bit annoyingly "choppy" if that's the right description, a bit sort of MTV generation style... But other that she speaks the truth!
Didn't realise she was banned from her lgbt group. That's terrible.

That's a really important point that she's making about the homophobia.

There is very, very little difference between this and every straight dude who's ever described himself as a "male lesbian" har har har. The message is that lesbianism isn't a real thing. That a sexual orientation can be altered at will - in fact, that it should be. That a sexual preference can be bigoted.

I'm straight, but it's no leap at all to see how fucking horrific that idea is. Homophobic and sexist. If you said the equivalent to a gay man, you'd get the Owen Jones defence "euuuuuuuw, no, vag is gross, fuck off", and that would be that. But women's sexuality is seen as something that is more...malleable (i.e. a fair chance of a guilt trip working).

Owen Jones supports lesbophobia. See this thread from last year. Apparently lesbians who refuse dick are transphobic but anyone who suggests he perform cunnilingus on transmen is erasing gay men.

I really feel for her. I know from hanging about on Reddit that young lesbians in LGBT circles are pretty much under siege from transbians using the women's female socialization and peer pressure to bully them into sex with males. Magdalen gets very angry about it, and so do I. The cotton ceiling was the start of peak trans for me.

I watched her video about non-binary that came up after the one posted above. Her source material for that one is mindblowingly mad. It would be hilarious (sooo bonkers) if it wasn't so earnest and, well, heartfelt. I genuinely had a "stop the world, I want to get off!" moment.

I've had to watch that latest video twice, just because I'm not very clever and didn't get a lot of it first time. I think she's brilliant. She's putting into words a lot of the angry noises I make around this issue. Following her on facebook now.

That video that mag is answering to, has pissed so many people off, my sidebar on youtube was full of replies to it. One reply, the bear or something, was just a compilation of other peoples good replies.

I really cannot wait for her takedown of Everyday Feminism, it's going to be a very beautiful thing
