We're running at about six weeks per pub at the moment! So if you want chat with a feminist flavour, or with fellow feminists, or just want to admire our patriarchy blaster cannon and goat - welcome!

Help, people. There is a thread in FWR where someone is posting about an issue to do with BC in the light of horrendous past abuse, and has explained that she's chosen FWR because she wants a safe place and she wants to avoid an AIBU pile-on... and of course it's shown up in active convos on people's phones and there has been a horrible AIBU pile-on. She must be in bits. It's a difficult issue, because I can see that in an ideal world her partner would have a point, but it's not an ideal world, he went into the relationship knowing the background and now he suddenly wants to "change the rules." And she's getting a right kicking from a load of posters who've never shown any interest in FWR before.

uglyswan · 18/05/2015 19:18

Thanks for the heads-up, Lurcio.

DoctorTwo · 18/05/2015 21:18

I cheered when Andy appointed Amelie as his coach, and I cheer more now he's unbeaten on clay this season. I wish her nothing but happiness.

I've spent a weekend kicking a football around with DGD, and jumping about on her trampoline. 'Twas most excellent.

UptoapointLordCopper · 18/05/2015 21:24

I can't cope with trampolines ...

MsDragons · 18/05/2015 21:34

I love trampolines. We have one, but dd2 says I'm too big to use it :(

SweetAndFullOfGrace · 18/05/2015 22:13

Nicked that sounds very heart rending. I hope she accepts the help Flowers

I love trampolines but I think this is a memory from my (significantly more coordinated and athletic) youth Confused

INickedAName · 18/05/2015 22:45

I love dds trampoline. The feeling in your tummy as you land back down is brill.

The place the gp referred mil to specialises with addictions and eating disorders, but because mils withdrawals are so severe they said they couldn't admit her, because she is at high risk of seizures, they said to take her to a and e, which SIL did, she was finally seen at 9pm after 7 hours in the waiting room, they've admitted her to monitor her and hopefully medicate her to stop the hallucinating, if all goes well she'll be able to go the original place and start a controlled detox. Mil has agreed to stay, she saw the wards and feels comfortable being there. It's the start of a long process, and she might end back to square one after being released, but at least for now, she is safe. Thank you for the well wishes, it's not something I can talk about in rl because I get defensive when people judge and gossip about her, and I don't like to worry dh, who says he is fine but he's not, so it's been good to voice here.

Thank you again.

TheLily1957 · 18/05/2015 22:50

Inicked you sound like a very strong women but i hope you are looking after yourself too.Flowers

ErrolTheDragon · 18/05/2015 23:07

Inicked, glad she is safe and will hopefully get some treatment. I've no experience but I suppose sometimes it takes a crisis like this to force someone to accept help.

YonicScrewdriver · 18/05/2015 23:53

Grrr! Aargh!

Can I please draw every one's attention to the Paraguay rape thread. Amnesty had a similar petition recently.

UptoapointLordCopper · 19/05/2015 09:20

There are a couple of my FB friends where every time they post a photo of themselves someone would comment on how they seem to have lost weight and are gorgeous. My friends are gorgeous, but somehow this commenting on weight-loss thing seems quite depressing ... There are also always comments about how beautiful their daughters are, just like their mothers. Again that's also true ...

alexpolistigers · 19/05/2015 09:31

It's annoying, isn't it LordCopper.

I have been ill and lost weight that I don't want to lose and people have annoyingly complimented me on it, as if it is a good thing to have had health problems with consequences.

UptoapointLordCopper · 19/05/2015 09:35

When I was growing up and was very thin (naturally - I ate 6 meals a day Grin) everyone did feel free to comment that I should eat more. Hmm At that time I was young and scared. Now I would have told them to STFU. In fact I periodically do that in my mind. >

alexpolistigers · 19/05/2015 09:53

I am also naturally slim. I don't need to lose weight for health reasons or anything else. I am entirely happy with my body. I was happy with it before losing weight, and it annoys me that I have, because my clothes don't fit properly. But I accept it as part of life. I don't need anyone else to comment on it, except perhaps my doctor.

INickedAName · 19/05/2015 10:29

I've also lost weight due to ill health, I went from 9 st to 6 st and then being underweight brings more health probs with it, I also struggle when people tell me I'm lucky, then there's the "you look annorexic" comments as a compliment. My close family and friends have stopped doing it, there's just comments from strangers or friends of friends, on the few occasions I've said something I'm called "miserable" so I ignore the best I can now.

INickedAName · 19/05/2015 11:25

Just caught the end of something on This Morning, there's some documentary on channel five tonight called "blinging up baby" it sounds like it's about parents who groom their children so that they look good, with the idea it helps their future prospects, all the clips I've seen feature girls and Mums. Two of the Mums were just talking and one said "it's a waste of a girl dressing them plain". I suppose "stereotyping your daughter" wouldn't make as good a title.

The next segment is a Man who has written a book, which is a manual on how to convince your woman to have breast implants. "big boobs equal happy relationships" apparently.

SmartAlecMetalGit · 19/05/2015 12:57

This is my first time posting here () but I thought this might amuse you all.

Apparently professional misogynists MRAs are getting themselves all worked up over Mad Max: Fury Road, proclaiming it "feminist propaganda" disguised as an action film in order to trick poor unsuspecting men into going to see it......

UptoapointLordCopper · 19/05/2015 13:05

Hello smartalec! I have read about that. Apparently NOBODY barks order at Max. Especially NOT A WOMAN.

shaska · 19/05/2015 14:07

I start to really love the MRA nuts. It's all gone a bit tin foil hat, hasn't it? They'll be talking about vapour trails being giant vaginas in the sky next. If they haven't already.

SmartAlecMetalGit · 19/05/2015 14:46

DepthFirstSearch · 19/05/2015 16:38

My friend, mocking the MRA nuts:

Waah waah, Charlize Theron has just menstruated all over my beliefs, was waah!!!

I'm still laughing.

YonicScrewdriver · 19/05/2015 19:18

Hi Alec! What are you drinking?

DoctorTwo · 19/05/2015 19:24

MRAs are easy to wind up IME. :o

I have a question: would it offend any of you if a man were to chivvy you along by saying "come on woman, sort yourself out." 'Cos I've started to say this. TBF, I use similar with men, swapping 'man' for woman.

Obviously, if the consensus is that I'm being offensive I'll stop.
