Unbelievable - apparently they've already lost one sponsor...

Yes LeBear: she boasted about how she had done a lot of reading on it. She couldn't possibly have read the evidence or the appeal judge's evidence or she would have known it was not a he said/she said rape case and she would have known why the two verdicts were different and that CE convicted himself by his own words.

It is so irritating when a person on national TV makes such a confident statement that is totally wrong and not even the chairman picked her up on it, let alone the other members of the panel.

I think you are right about her source.

PuffinsAreFictitious · 10/01/2015 19:10

The case came up on the TV in the canteen at work, and I said something along the lines of, "Good, glad he's not going to be playing"

This led to an interesting discussion.

The number of people who think that she went back to the hotel room with both of them was astounding. That because she was drunk, she didn't exactly ask for it, but she should have known better. So, I outlined, gently the actual facts and some people saw it slightly differently. Then someone asked if I was one of them feminists. Yes, yes I am. The silence was deafening. Work might not be quite so friendly anymore... meh.

How? When even on his odious website, it doesn't make that claim?

It's just the assumption that she was a slut and deserved it isn't it? Sad

YonicSleighdriver · 10/01/2015 19:43

Puffins, it's what DH thought too - if you've literally read nothing about the case other than a "CE, guilty of rapimg a 19 year old woman in a hotel last April" type headline then it's easy (in fact, I'm not even sure DH knew CM was there until I told him)

clam · 10/01/2015 20:14

My dh ventured to suggest that he was possibly not guilty (because "he's appealing") and was subjected to a 10 minute tirade from me about the facts.
He emerged from the ensuite waving a white flag.

YonicSleighdriver · 10/01/2015 20:22

Sorry, DH didn't think she was a slut, just that CE and she went to a hotel room then he raped her.

Grin I too am a figment of my own imagination.

PuffinsAreFictitious · 11/01/2015 21:25

Well, I am obviously the product of a fevered imagination, because... I am in the NW, if I look out of my window and squint a bit I can lakes and prettiness.

But obvs, that means I am in Charlton and someone's left their bath overflowing again....

Amethyst24 · 11/01/2015 21:59

There was a dreadful column about this (not London feminists, CE ) in today's Observer. Full of the nonsense that's been criticised on this thread.

Headline was something like "CE may not play professional football for 18 months". To which the only possible response is, "Diddums."

Ah - 14 months. Poor flower. www.theguardian.com/football/2015/jan/10/ched-evans-14-month-legal-battle

PuffinsAreFictitious · 11/01/2015 22:12

My heart pumps actual custard for him.

Amethyst24 · 11/01/2015 22:15

Mine too, Puffins. Such a tragic waste of the young lad's talent, and all because of... Oh, hold on.

PuffinsAreFictitious · 11/01/2015 22:25

I think I'm just going to type out a 'fun facts about your pet rapist' document, and copy paste it to every single thread, every couple of pages, because those myths and lies just won't stop waving.....

EveDallasRetd · 11/01/2015 22:33

DH has been in full agreement with me throughout the whole RCE issue, but has commented recently on how 'feminist' I have become (with a sneer)...

That led to me saying "and the problem with that, exactly? Considering we have two female children and you are married to a woman that spent 24 years in a very sexist male environment?"

The only answer? "oh um nothing, just an observation, that's all"

Grin

Amethyst24 · 11/01/2015 22:51

What I love, Eve is how you were able to say that in a totally relaxed conversational fashion, with no steely glint in your eye at all. Smile

scallopsrgreat · 11/01/2015 23:16

"My heart pumps actual custard for him."

I'm so glad I read that! I'll be going to bed giggling now rather than raging Grin. Thanks Puffins x

And great reply Eve!

BIWI · 11/01/2015 23:49

Why isn't it suggested that he can go back to playing football, if that's what he desires, but on the National Minimum Wage?

Then he can do the job he apparently so desires, but won't be able to afford the celebrity lifestyle that goes with it.

Let's see how long his girlfriend wants to be with him then. Or how long he really wants to be in the job.

(I say this in jest, really - because I still think that as a footballer he would be in the public eye, so still a role model, so shouldn't really be allowed - but it's a thought, isn't it? Remove the money/celebrity lifestyle from the 'beautiful game' itself?)

YonicSleighdriver · 11/01/2015 23:51

Cunning, BIWI, cunning. There's probably a league 328 team out there who could afford that...

EveDallasRetd · 12/01/2015 08:27

Even the lower league teams have supporters wearing shirts with players names on. Can you imagine a 10 year old with "Evans" on his back

Nah, fuck him. He can work for his FIL - preferably in the stock room out of sight.

OddBoots · 12/01/2015 08:37

He effectively would have been playing for minimum wage BIWI, his girlfriend's dad was going to be paying the club to employ him. Quite what is going through that dad's mind I don't know but it wouldn't have been a real job anyway, Oldham would have just been pretending to be employ a rapist - glorified work experience.

PuffinsAreFictitious · 12/01/2015 09:58

Iirc, he was going to get a minimum of £400 a week, up to £10k a month. We should all be forced to struggle on that level of minimum wage.
