Unbelievable - apparently they've already lost one sponsor...

OP posts:
PuffinsAreFictitious · 08/01/2015 12:48

A board member was allegedly told where his daughter worked and was told she would be raped if they signed CE. GMP say no complaint of any kind has been made.

The only rape or death threats I've seen/have been made to me, have been made by people who think that CE should play prof football, and they are the same ones who have threatened his victim.

Mengog · 08/01/2015 12:55

Something ironic about a threat of Rape discouraging an employer to hire a rapist.

sashh · 08/01/2015 12:56

Agree Mengog I may have to tweet that

BreakingDad77 · 08/01/2015 12:58

So not resigning him due to being a unrepentant rapist had nothing to do with it, it was threats...
This kind of cheapens and diverts attention, seems like a sop for the club to save face with its rape apologists.

PuffinsAreFictitious · 08/01/2015 13:06

It's very clever on the club's part.

Make out that the women (and men) protesting a rapist joining the club are violent and make rape threats too. So they are 'just as bad' as the actual convicted rapist in the proCE lot's eyes.

Next club that wants to sign him will have an added bonus of baying rape apologists saying that feminists want to rape women..... and, nonsensical though that sentence is, they will believe it with all their hearts.

BreakingDad77 · 08/01/2015 13:13

Agreed Puffins

littleboltonn · 08/01/2015 13:19

Puffins

So just to confirm, you believe the board member is making a false allegation and is not a victim? As far as I understood, im suppose to believe victims? In this case I should think the "Victim" is a liar?

PuffinsAreFictitious · 08/01/2015 13:25

No, that's not what I'm saying at all.

What I am saying is that the threat didn't come from feminists. You know, the ones who are protesting an unrepentant rapist's sliding back into professional football.

I do believe a threat has been made. I am sure the victim will make a complaint to the police, and I hope whoever did it is punished to the fullest extent of the law. Which should include jail. I would hope that all the rape/death threats made by OAFC supporters to people who would rather not see him play there which have been passed on to the Police will be treated seriously too.

Nice try though. boltonn.

littleboltonn · 08/01/2015 13:28

Puffin

Apologies if that wasn't your intention but sentences like these

"It's very clever on the club's part.

Make out that the women (and men) protesting a rapist joining the club are violent and make rape threats too. So they are 'just as bad' as the actual convicted rapist in the proCE lot's eyes."

Make it sound like your saying the club are making it up.

Sorry if that wasn't the case

YonicSleighdriver · 08/01/2015 13:31

I am pleased the threats will be investigated:

Greater Manchester's chief constable Sir Peter Fahy said his force would be launching an investigation into threats to the club's staff and their families.
"It is totally unacceptable," Sir Peter told BBC Radio 5 live.
"We will be contacting Oldham Athletic to make sure that it's investigated."

PuffinsAreFictitious · 08/01/2015 13:32

No, what that sentence implied and was pretty explicit about was that they are making out that it was the feminists who are protesting his signing who made the threats.

At no point did I say they were lying about the threats, nor did I imply it.

Rape threats and death threats are disgusting and should be investigated and punished.

EveDallasRetd · 08/01/2015 13:32

Evans statement just released

Ched Evans signed by Oldham Athletic
PuffinsAreFictitious · 08/01/2015 13:38

3 clubs have turned him down, the website, which identified his victim in 2012 and now, in 2015 he apologises?

I'm sure it drips sincerity.

Starlightbright1 · 08/01/2015 13:42

Just heard statement on news. About time but not sure how sincere it is..

Amethyst24 · 08/01/2015 13:49

Also, he can't really say whether the people hounding his victim on social media are his supporters or not, can he? I'm sure they'd maintain that they are.

LightningOnlyStrikesOnce · 08/01/2015 13:55

Harry Redknapp, manager of Premier League side QPR, had told reporters Evans should be given a second chance.
He added: "Once you've done your time you've done your time, and somewhere along the line you've got to come out and make a go of your life.
"So it's a very difficult situation at the moment with the lad who is a footballer and wants to play football.
"He can't just not be allowed to carry on with his life."

From the BBC story.www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/30727729

Please, isn't anyone in the Footballing world going to come out and say rape is bad and should be stopped? Are they all rape apologists?

So sorry for the difficult time the poor rapist who has NOT SERVED HIS (DERISORY) TIME and just wants to play football is having. Angry

PuffinsAreFictitious · 08/01/2015 13:56

I'm pretty sure that his mother, sister, brother and girlfriend support him, all of whom have abused people on social media, and his FFil seems to be his biggest supporter, to the tune of £2 million, and who owns and runs the website which has caused so much of the abuse.

The best way he could show he is sincere is by demanding that the website is taken down.

PuffinsAreFictitious · 08/01/2015 13:57

From Twitter.

Ched Evans: Police say they called Oldham Athletic & sponsors and were told no threats been made; a couple of "low level abuse on Twitter."

Make of that what you will.

Amethyst24 · 08/01/2015 14:51

Apparently the OAFC chairman has stood down www.oldham-chronicle.co.uk/news-features/8/news-headlines/89746/corney-quits-as-ched-deal-off

AWholeLottaNosy · 08/01/2015 16:17

Interesting comments under that article, many basically saying that 'mob rule' ( ie us ) has won!

AWholeLottaNosy · 08/01/2015 16:26

And here is his 'apology', although he still states he's innocent. Huh? Hmm

www.theguardian.com/football/2015/jan/08/ched-evans-apologises-rape-victim-oldham

littleboltonn · 08/01/2015 16:35

Have to say I agree with the comments, while I think Ched should no longer be working as a public figure, I don't think its for me to decide and should have been left with Oldhams fans

Only the fans should have had the final say if they wanted Ched playing for there club, not white feminists sat in london signing a petition

grimbletart · 08/01/2015 16:41

white feminists sat in london

Grin Grin

Oh dear

PuffinsAreFictitious · 08/01/2015 16:42

Having had a good trawl through OAFC's facebook pages and forums over the last few days, I can say with some ease that the majority of OAFC fans who use those platforms were firmly with those 'white feminists, sat in London, signing a petition' whoever they are.

scallopsrgreat · 08/01/2015 16:43

I'm not in London.

I was born in Oldham. I used to go to school with the son of the OA manager at the time. Pretty please can I have a say?

You make it sound like only white feminists are the ones signing the petitions or the ones objecting? If it were left up to fans whether players got signed then football would be even more racist and homophobic (and probably misogynistic) than it already is, judging by the chanting and truly awful behaviour around black and gay players.
