I just came on to share this website - My Body Gallery.

Someone on a thread in Chat mentioned it - it's a website with photos of real women on it.

You can put in your height/weight etc and search for photos of women like you - and see that they actually look fabulous. I find it so easy to get ground down by "acceptable" standards of beauty and slimness and beat myself up about a few lumps and bumps.. when actually, women who are roughly the same as me look LOVELY in lots of different ways.

I feel a bit emotional actually, having looked at them and seeing how great they look.

Sadly, Trevor, when I looked for women like me, firstly there were only 3 images because I imagine most women like me don't want their body to be displayed publicly, and secondly, the images didn't look beautiful to me, they just looked fat.

Oh no, don't apologise , trevor, it's an important project. And we could all do with a better body image. I'm more sad that beauty standards have done such a number on me than the link itself.

Urgh, I have just had a facebook disagreement with a female friend who is giving off about "bloody feminists" (her words) disapproving of a trivial shirt when there is Important Science happening. Somebody pour me a whisky please. She is an otherwise intelligent, nice person entering a science based career - albeit a field which is a lot less male dominated than it used to be thanks in large part to all her female predecessors and a lot of enlightened men. Better make it a double whisky.

Better: beauty standards, booty standards - they're both full of shit.

I'm not too impressed with the renaming of the board - why have they taken women's rights out?

Judging by the rest of the boards, and certainly the rest of the world women do not have full humans rights yet. For example, it is still their fault if they are raped when drunk/out on their own/pulling a dogs tail/putting poisonous snakes in the garden etc.

I think they are making board titles shorter in general.

Hmm, I seem to be having a bit of an allergic reaction to the other week's "be nice to the visitors so they don't think feminists are horrid" drive. I have just been really sharp with two people saying dumb things. One probably deserved it, the other probably was just someone who legitimately hung out on MN and had drifted in here on the back of active convos I think. I have failed to get my "nice feminist who does good deeds and talks to the lurkers" badge.

Lurcio I've only managed to be not not-nice by deleting everything I typed. (Why do I do that!?) But I think one day my finger may slip and my nice image will be gone forever.

Sorry guys I think I'm about to lose the plot. Why have they taken women's rights out? And how many times can I type "no a dominant man isn't naice and fluffy and it won't be good fun and how far you go might not be up to you and fucking wise up". Arsehole on C4 saying that men need PUA because they're scared to chat up women because they might be crucified for perceived sexism (or something) like Matt Taylor. Gives me the fucking rage.
