That thread is equal parts sad and infuriating.
Can see how feminist theory can be intimidating, and I imagine the anger is quite scary too. After all we are still taught that an angry woman is somehow unnatural, especially one angry at men.
Plus I can see why they get frustrated with sentences like "Men do this", because they aren't thinking men as in the class, they are thinking men as in the individuals. It took me a long while to get my head around it, I confess I once used to say "not all men" in response to feminist critique.
It's not easy is it?
Don't know about on here, but I've seen so many people try to explain things and it just never seems to lead anywhere. And there's no way of removing the confusing/scary bits without diluting the important messages. And of course there are enough people who are really keen on deliberately misunderstanding and having other misunderstand.
Wish there wasn't this weird perceived divide between feminists and other women. Like we are some odd other.
I also feel reluctant to go on at those who find it intimidating in case it seems like I am trying to convert them to some cause. I want to run after them going, "we're not scary honest, just talk to us", but that's creepy behaviour.
On that note, less seriousness, pass me a drink!
