You could! Wink

BriarRainbowshimmer · 10/10/2014 14:09

Anyway, it has taken 9 years to see sense, but I'm now back to F* as my surname.

Tess sorry but your mysterious surname made me laugh a lot Grin

BriarRainbowshimmer · 10/10/2014 14:10

What, where did the rest of the * go? Too dirty for MN?

PetulaGordino · 10/10/2014 14:11

the two * either side of the middle one boldified it (technical term)

BriarRainbowshimmer · 10/10/2014 14:15

Oh. I feel kind of sad that that part of the mystery got solved.

YonicScrewdriver · 10/10/2014 14:23

It's a double bluff.

You are actually Tess French.

I like the mushing together two surnames idea, so Smith and French become the Frith family. Less double barreling nice and equal.

I have not posted for ages but was going to start a thread on good non-profitstereotyped gifts for kids later after reading a lovely book with female builders in (the joy!) if anyone wants to join in.

TeWiSavesTheDay · 10/10/2014 14:35

Fucking autocorrect. Non-stereotyped

DemisRoussos · 10/10/2014 15:22

Ooh what's the book with female builders pls? DD2 would love that.

Well, I spoke to DH and he was totally cool about me wanting to change my name, understood the reasons behind it. Didn't think we should change the DC's surname though because of the hassle it would cause them. Going to think about it a bit more over the weekend. I am worried about the reaction of others if I do change my name, I know I shouldn't worry about it but I do. My extended family will probably think I'm being very pretentious Sad

PetulaGordino · 10/10/2014 15:27

"it is important to me" is enough of an explanation

i understand the worry about other people. i am hoping the inverse correlation of time and giving a shit come into effect

DemisRoussos · 10/10/2014 16:04

Smile Thanks Petula

PetulaGordino · 10/10/2014 16:08

big risk, but calculated, and i needed to do it

trevortrevorslattery · 10/10/2014 16:29

TessOfTheFurbyvilles · 10/10/2014 17:29

Wow - much respect to you Petula.

I would resign, but I'm self-employed, so my boss (me) wouldn't allow it!

OublietteBravo · 10/10/2014 17:59

Go Petula

PetulaGordino · 10/10/2014 18:13

Thanks all. I don't feel very feministy, it feels like the most irresponsible thing I've ever done. But things couldn't carry on as they were. And I have Exciting Plans

PetulaGordino · 10/10/2014 18:14

I should also say I am incredibly lucky that I have this option. It's not risk-free, but I have very supportive people in my life and lots of luck

UptoapointLordCopper · 10/10/2014 18:18

Petula Keep us posted! Sounds exciting. :)

DemisRoussos · 10/10/2014 18:27

DemisRoussos · 10/10/2014 18:27

VeryLittleGravitasIndeed · 10/10/2014 18:30

It will be worth it, you only have one life after all.
