He didn't get it, did he?

My personal view is that a suspended sentence was in order for the level of the assault and the fact that he has no other convictions.

But that speech on the steps of the court moved me to touch him, and not in a touchy-feely kind of way.

The sentence has been referred as too lenient.

I honestly don't know what to think, and I do not think DLT has been harshly treated, btw. I just thought that it was a reasonable sentence.

In my thoughts: it was minor sexual assault - but I'm not diminishing her anger and upset.

He wasn't an authority figure at that time, though I can see why as a grunt, she felt unable to complain about it.

I wouldn't feel aggrieved if he got a longer suspension, but I can't see him going to jail.

I wonder if there is a sanction for a convicted criminal grandstanding on the steps of the court. There should be.

Also intimidating witnesses or observers like Camilla Long. How dare he say where she should sit? He's a convict. She's a member of the public in a public court. Unless she was intimidating him beyond just sitting behind him, he has no right.

I'm not sure that it is a reasonable sentence, but I think that is a problem with the whole idea of a suspended sentence. It really isn't a punishment at all. Obviously he has suffered in other indirect ways, but as a court imposed sanction it seems a bit pointless.

What the fuck?

Is she seriously suggesting that women don't report rape, and that those rapes don't get to court because the Police are spending too much time investigating things she deems 'trivial'? Really? I thought it was more because women aren't believed, that their lived experience is belittled and minimised. You know, like the writer of that piece is doing.

For fucks sake.

This is a good breakdown of the kind of tripe that has been written.
