Sorry, I didn't explain it very well in my OP, but my motivation for starting this thread was outrage that an offender, any offender, should be convicted and sentenced and then have the temerity to step outside court and be allowed to diminish his crime or pretend that he hadn't done it.

I can't imagine that it would happen in the event of any other crime.

In fact, it didn't even happen in the case of Max Clifford. But now I'm thinking about it, maybe that was because Clifford was taken into immediate custody and couldn't grandstand on the steps of the court.

It's not just Dave Lee Travis who doesn't think it matters, is it?

the judge said that his assault was "intentional and unpleasant". dlt is "mortified" that he was convicted (not that he carried out the assault)

Though I disapprove of her endorsement of gambling and the Kray twins, I like her work in the Carry On series, particularly in Carry On Spying, which is my favourite of the genre.
